Chapter 588: Being nosy

"He should be on his way," replied Wen Qinxi and Qie Ranzhe couldn’t help but show a look of annoyance. Wen Qinxi knew why he was annoyed. It might appear like he was the one that spoilt Qie Xieling but the one who was more indulging of him was Qie Ranzhe. In other words, he was his father’s son hence the one who would cry more over his family’s little cabbage being eaten would be him.

Qie Ranzhe’s mood had been especially good when he woke up but when he saw the post that Luo Muchen posted he lost it. He didn’t even see it himself. It was Wen Danzhe’s big mouth that broadcasted it to the entire house.

What made matters worse was that Qie Ranzhe tried to check it with his phone only to find that Luo Muchen’s account was currently private and he had to send a request to him to see it. In this entire house, he was the only one who didn’t have access to Luo Muchen’s profile. It was starting to look deliberate but it truly wasn’t. Who in this house didn’t know that Qie Ranzhe disliked the one surnamed Luo? They had all been following Luo Muchen because it was a way to track Qie Xieling’s movements. If they couldn’t find him they could only check Luo Muchen’s profile.

"Why is he so mad?" asked Nana Qie seeing his son’s cold face.

Wen Qinxi didn’t bother responding. He had no idea how to coax him now so he wouldn’t make trouble.

"Just a concerned grandma over here. Did you two have the talk with him?" said Grandma Wen while placing a plate of fruit on the table.

"Huh? What talk?" asked Wen Qinxi while poking a pineapple with a toothpick from the plate.

Grandma Wen lowered her reading glasses and stared at him like she was looking at an idiot. "What other talk is there? I had the talk with you so naturally you have to have the talk with him. What? You expect this old lady to discuss these things with him," she said and Wen Qinxi exclaimed,

"Ma, come on!" while Qie Ranzhe’s face grew colder.

"Why bother when they already got down and dirty in that ga- ouch," said Wen Danzhe before a couch cushion was thrown at him by his mother. It didn’t hurt but it was enough to throw him off balance.

"Bro, you remember how she had the talk with us? She had a knife on the table and her opening statement was get a girl pregnant and I will castrate you hahaha," continued Wen Danzhe not afraid to offend his mother. That woman scared them so much that Wen Qinxi even returned the eraser a girl had given him the day before.

"You are exaggerating. I didn’t scare you with a knife," she hurriedly defended herself but how could her sons let her forget?

"Woah, you really have a bad memory. You placed it on the table with a bang and even pointed it at us," chimed in Wen Qinxi and Nana Qie’s brow arched as she leaned in closer to ask,

"Did you really threaten them?"

"It’s all Dan Dan’s fault. That brat brought a girl home and thought that I didn’t know," she said. She was a hard-working widowed mother who had no time to watch her two boys closely. Who would have thought that when she came back home late one night after a hard day she would catch a whiff of a girl’s strong perfume? She followed the scent to Wen Danzhe’s room. That night she scared them shitless and her method was too effective because her youngest didn’t even want to settle down.

"Wah, now she admits it," said Wen Danzhe as he helped himself to the fruits on the platter but his hand was smacked mercilessly.

"Ah! Ma, am I not your son," he complained and Wen Qinxi couldn’t help but retort,

"Don’t you know that you are a trash can baby? Mum picked you up and adopted you." His laughter rang through the air while his mother scolded him. Wen Qinxi had said this to Wen Danzhe several times when they were kids and Wen Danzhe would cry. One time he said it just as his mother was stepping through the door. That day Wen Qinxi was beaten till his little butt was red.

Despite that lesson, he still couldn’t resist teasing him. "I am not. I look like ma," said Wen Danzhe and Wen Qinxi replied,

"Sure, sure," clearly taunting him.

Wen Danzhe used the same cushion his mother had thrown at him against his brother but as expected Qie Ranzhe came to his husband’s defense.

"Don’t hit my wife with tgat," he said while blocked the cushion.

"Ran-ge, don’t interfere in this," said Wen Danzhe while Qie Xieling walked into this ruckus.

"What’s going on?" he asked while taking off his shoes.

"Your uncle is adopted," said Wen Qinxi and Wen Danzhe swung another cushion at him.

Qie Xieling quirked his lips while putting on his slippers. "Makes sense."

Wen Danzhe, "..."

Qie Xieling walked over and kissed his grandma and Nana on the cheek before sitting between them. If his father was really mad this spot was indeed the safest in the entire house.

"Look at you. You a glowing. Anything good happened?" asked Nana Qie knowingly.

Qie Xieling felt like something was wrong. What did they mean by glowing? He wasn’t glowing. Only pregnant women glow.

’Shit,’ he swore internally having realised why his nana said that. She was assuming that something had happened last night.

"No no no, nothing happened last night I swear," he said only for Wen Denzhe to mumble,

"That hickey says otherwise."

Qie Xieling narrowed his eyes glaring at him. This was payback for yesterday, wasn’t it? Wen Danzhe was wearing a smug expression on his face clearly gloating.

Qie Xieling who had no idea that he was talking to experienced veterans who could tell the difference between a mosquito bite and a love bite by a human quickly went on the defensive. "It’s a mosquito bite. We went to the city view and stood outside. I probably got bitten there," he said only for him to meet his father’s blazing eyes.

"Is that the mosquito you are talking about?" asked Wen Danzhe while showing him the picture Luo Muchen uploaded.

"You can’t even see my face in the picture. How do you know that’s me?" He said but he soon realised he was making things worse.

"What? Did Luo Muchen actually have the balls to upload a picture of him with someone else?" asked Wen Danzhe ready to throw hands with Luo Muchen.

"Uh no no I mean that is me but it is not today. That picture is old," he said and the room fell silent.

Everyone, "..."

Qie Ranzhe almost had a heart attack. Sure he shouldn’t care about this. His son was a grown man but damn, he couldn’t control himself. He was like a mother hen protecting his chick.

He suddenly stood up and Wen Qinxi had to pull him down. They had to calm him down.

"I am just going to the bathroom," he said but his mother read through his lies.

"Sit down," his mother said and Qie Ranzhe reluctantly sat down.

"You misunderstand. Nothing happened. We were just sleeping that’s all," he tried to explain but that was only making things worse. It was better if he didn’t say anything.

"Explaining it makes it so much worse. Just let it go," said Wen Qinxi and Qie Xieling felt like he was on trial. Other families wouldn’t care but they cared so much to the point that they were nosy.

"Uh, that’s enough. Stop messing with him," said Nana Qie giving her grandbaby a way out but soon he realised that she had evil intentions.

"By the way invite Chen-er over. We are having a barbeque today," she said and Qie Xieling’s back stiffened.

"Wait wait... isn’t it a bit rushed?" he asked and Nana Qie retorted,

"He had already spent the night with you so we as your family naturally need to know what his intentions are. He took away your innocence and people will talk."

Qie Xieling was speechless. It was as though he walked through the door pregnant. Actually, he had already been knocked up once be it virtually but still.

"I am not a girl that you have to worry about my reputation—," he said but like dangling a carrot in front of a donkey his nana pulled up the image of the car.

"It’s getting delivered today," she said and Qie Xieling laughed nervously before getting up in a hurry almost tripping.

"Hey be careful. How would you be able to drive if you broke your leg!" yelled Grandma Wen.

Qie Ranzhe who was struggling to keep calm just now finally exclaimed, "Ma!"

"Don’t ma me and stop yelling. He is a good boy and you need to trust him more," she said but soon she would regret saying those words.

Qie Xieling dialled Luo Muchen’s number while standing at the deck. He could vaguely hear his grandma asking his uncle if he marinated the meat well last night.

He rubbed his thumb with his index finger while nervously waiting for Luo Muchen to answer.

There was a click and a deep husky voice answered, "Yes, baby. Miss me already."

Qie Xieling, "..."

"Fuck," he swore under his breath. Luo Muchen’s voice was so magnetic and entrancing that his ears got pregnant (idiom lol).

He rubbed his ear and put the phone next to his ear again. What followed was Luo Muchen’s deep laughter making him shiver all over.

"My family wants to see you. Don’t come empty-handed," he said and Luo Muchen froze.

He had been shooting at clay pigeons with his mom and Hei Xiwen in the backyard when Qie Xieling called him. He had been enduring Hei Xiwen pretending like he didn’t know how to do it and his mother trying to demonstrate how it was done. Watching his mum flirting was not on his bucket list but who would have thought that Qie Xieling would call him?

He cleared his throat and asked, "What time?"

Qie Xieling glanced back and saw the five people who seemed so chilled. It was obvious that they weren’t ready to receive visitors yet.

"How about around two. Dress casual," he said considering this wasn’t a formal meet-up.

Luo Muchen pursed his lips suppressing the smile at the corner of his lips. He scratched the back of his head and asked, "Does this mean that we are getting married?"

Qie Xieling laughed out loud. What was this man thinking? "No, you wish. I will send you a list of what my family likes. Don’t be late," he said before he hung up.

Luo Muchen bit his lower lip as he stared into the distance for a moment. He rubbed his chest where his heart was. He couldn’t stop smiling almost scaring his mother standing nearby.

He spun around and said, "I am going to the Qie mansion. Don’t wait up."

Luo Shih arched her brow and with a bang, she shot down her target. "Don’t go empty-handed," she said and Luo Muchen yelled,

"I know!" while running back to the house. In no time his figure had disappeared.

Hei Xiwen wrapped his arm around Luo Shih and nuzzled the back of her neck before saying, "We are alone. How about...," before whispering into her ear.

Luo Shih glanced at the large greenhouse he was talking about. She then looked at him before saying, "You are such a pervert," but she still put her shotgun down and led the way. Halfway there Hei Xiwen picked her up and hauled her over his shoulder. Luo Shih’s laughter was carried with the wind before they disappeared into the greenhouse.
