Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 581: "Who is your husband?"
Qie Xieling smiled as he watched Luo Muchen’s hair flutter in the breeze of the blow drier. He never thought about it before but he loved how soft and silky it felt in between his fingers and how it shone in the light. He moved the drier closer to Luo Muchen’s scalp, making sure to dry every strand. Qie Xieling thought it would be awkward to get along as lovers after being frenemies for so long but he was wrong. It seemed there was no awkwardness between them and they were still getting along just fine. It felt really nice.
Luo Muchen closed his eyes and hummed in contentment. He felt Qie Xieling’s gentle touch on his hair, his neck, and his shoulders. He leaned back and rested his head on Qie Xieling’s abdomen.
Qie Xieling gently pushed his head back while reprimanding him. "If I burn your ears don’t blame me," said Qie Xieling and Luo Muchen chuckled softly while looking at their reflections in the ceiling-to-floor window.
"Then you will kiss it better," he said and Qie Xieling raised his head looking at Luo Muchen through the reflection of the window.
"How come I never knew you were so shameless?" he asked as he lowered his head. Luo Muchen reached back to hold his hand and pulled it forward. He planted a gentle kiss on his fingers and said, "I am only shameless with you."
Qie Xieling’s hand holding the drier paused feeling a tingling sensation spread from the tips of his fingers to his toes. If Luo Muchen kept talking like this he might end up rolling in between the sheets with him on the first night.
"Ah," exclaimed Luo Muchen sucking in a cold breath of air after the hot air from the blow drier grazed his skin.
Qie Xieling switched it off and hurriedly took a look with a face full of concern. His ear was faintly pink but it wasn’t serious.
Qie Xieling rubbed his ear while asking, "Does it hurt?"
Luo Muchen shook his head no. It didn’t hurt at all. Or maybe it did but he was just too excited to feel it. "Stay still. I will finish now," he said and he carefully finished blow drying. As soon as he was done he switched the blow drier off and placed it on the pedestal. He was about to unplug it when Luo Muchen turned around and wrapped his arms around his waist, holding him tight.
Qie Xieling indulged him. They stayed like that for a long while, enjoying the warmth and intimacy of the moment.
"Lin Lin," called out Luo Muchen in a muffled voice and Qie Xieling responded,
"Um?"
"You didn’t kiss it better," he said and Qie Xieling chuckled the vibrations from his chest transmitting into Luo Muchen’s heart. Qie Xieling tilted his head and kissed Luo Muchen’s ear. Luo Muchen felt like spring was bursting at the pit of his stomach. Both his ears were hot.
"It still hurts," he shamelessly said his lips brushing against Qie Xieling’s neck.
Qie Xieling gently rubbed his back while kissing the top of Luo Muchen’s head, whispering in his ear. "Don’t make trouble. It’s already past midnight. It’s not good to sleep late."
Luo Muchen smiled and looked up at him, meeting his gaze. They leaned in and kissed softly, feeling each other’s breath.
They broke the kiss and Luo Muchen turned off the light leaving the dim bedside lamp on. He pulled Qie Xieling closer and hugged him. Qie Xieling snuggled into his embrace. He was a little tired and his eyes were already drowsy. Luo Muchen on the other hand was wide awake. He was so excited that he couldn’t sleep.
"Lin Lin," he called out and Qie Xieling answered with a soft weak, "Um."
He wanted to ask him what they did in the game but he could feel that the person in his arms was already drifting off to sleep.
In the end, he decided to ask him tomorrow hence he could only say, "Good night," while gently stroking Qie Xieling’s back.
Qie Xieling moved slightly on his naked chest as though looking for a comfortable position. "Good night."
Luo Muchen suddenly smiled slyly before saying, "I love you." He was hoping his boyfriend would say it back in his drowsy state but Qie Xieling didn’t fall into his trap.
He directly said, "Go to sleep," his voice hoarse.
Luo Muchen, "..."
He wanted to hear him say it back to him but he could only let it go. His phone suddenly vibrated so he reached out to pick it up. It was another message from BagerZ. He had already made it clear to him that he wasn’t interested. The only reason he didn’t block him was because they had a project together.
Luo Muchen ignored him and swiped away the message notification without even reading it. His fingers froze when he saw that all his backups had been restored on his phone. He opened his gallery and saw one of the pictures he marked as a favourite. It was a picture of him lying in bed with Qie Xieling in his arms. He quickly cropped the picture till it wasn’t showing Qie Xieling’s face. It was only showing his face partially and his fluffy strands of hair. It was an odd image but it spoke a thousand words.
He posted it on his profile and included the caption ’Waking up with you in my arms is the greatest gift’. After posting it his heart felt settled. He locked his phone screen and switched off the lamp. The room instantly fell into darkness. He pulled Qie Xieling even more into his embrace and Qie Xieling who was displeased complained in his sleep, "Husband... don’t move around."
Luo Muchen, "..."
He should have let it go but damn his throat was sour. With this bad taste in his mouth he wouldn’t be able to sleep so he leaned close to Qie Xieling’s ear and asked, "Who is your husband?"
Qie Xieling was especially obedient. He caressed Luo Muchen’s chest while saying, "Mu Mu."
Luo Muchen’s smile grew bigger his heart doing cartwheels. He wanted to know what sort of things happened in that game for such a good thing to happen to him now. He really wanted to know. Too bad he couldn’t for the life of him recall anything. He shut his eyes trying to remember. Tonight he vowed not to sleep until he could at least recall anything that happened in the game. It didn’t have to be a big memory. Anything small would be fine. It would be considered progress.
