Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 544: "Do you trust me?"
Luo Muchen ignored them as he grabbed Master Bi to put him in a cage beside his father. Bi Yize dragged his mother and sister back into their residence.
"You know it better this way," said Bi Yize. This was the only way to appease Qie Xieling and hopefully the rest of their family would be spared.
Luo Muchen closed the cage and wiped his fingers with a handkerchief like he had touched something dirty. Master Bi scooted over to the bars and with a crazed expression, he said, "Why are you even following his orders, huh? You are the most revered martial artist in the entire continent yet here you doing his dirty work."
Luo Muchen who had volunteered himself, "???"
He walked away his expression cold only to hear Master Bi yell after him. "While you are here doing his dirty work he is replacing you with a new lover. He used you and now he will toss you out like garbage.
Master Lee who had witnessed his son’s vicious and insidious nature wished he could cover Master Bi’s mouth and make him stop talking.
Luo Muchen’s steps halted and for a moment he froze there seeming lost in thought. He then turned to walk back and Master Bi mistakenly thought he had managed to reason with him.
Luo Muchen walked over with calm steady steps but the mercenaries behind him could tell that he was pissed off and on the verge of exploding. They pulled the reigns forcing their horses to distance themselves from the cart with the cage.
Luo Muchen unlocked the cage and Master Bi thought he was being let go. He moved to the door only to be dragged out of the carriage before he was thrown to the ground.
Luo Muchen kicked him fiercely in the stomach and the older man rolled a few feet. Master Bi scrambled to his feet and he was about to run away when Luo Muchen raised his hand and one of the men threw a rolled-up whip. He caught it and swung it. With a crack, it tore through the air and wrapped itself around Master Bi’s neck. Luo Muchen yanked the whip and forcibly pulled Master Bi who fell to the ground in an instant.
Luo Muchen struck him several times and each time he struck him the people over the wall of the Bi mansion flinched. They heard their former master wail in pain which reminded them of Qie Xieling and how he used to cry just like that when Master Bi came to punish him. The day Bi Yu discovered how easy it was to incite her father to punish Qie Xieling she would accuse him of the most ridiculous things and under Madam Bi’s urging Master Bi would strike him with a whip at the centre of the courtyard for all to see. After that, they would pour a bucket of salt water on his wounds.
Luo Muchen finally stopped his breathing heavy. He beckoned one of the mercenaries over and just like he did to Qie Xieling before they poured salty water on his wounds but this solution was even more concentrated. The man screamed like he was being set alight. One of the men gagged his mouth and his cries became muffled.
"Put him in the cage. We went stop until we reached the palace," he said before mounting his horse. The black stallion set off and in the blink of an eye, it was gone.
The mercenaries, "..."
They had received the news earlier but didn’t dare open their mouths to tell Luo Muchen. They kept their mouth shut for their own safety. As expected his reaction to the news was extreme. The man rode for three days and three nights straight without rest exchanging horses at the outposts every eight hours. No one dared to speak to him the entire way.
Qie Xieling had no idea that there was a tanker of vinegar coming his way. He was busy getting back at Bo Ailun almost bringing the man to tears. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Stand still," said Qie Xieling watching Bo Ailun trembling while he had an apple on his head.
"Your majesty... I can’t," he cried out and Qie Xieling smiled sinisterly while Jolie excitedly watched the good show.
"Don’t you trust him? He has excellent marksmanship," said Jolie.
"Of course, I don’t trust him," he said and quickly covered his mouth having realised how disrespectful his speech was. "This servant mean-."
"Too late. You can’t take it back. His majesty now has real reason to pierce your head with an arrow," said Jolie enjoying messing with Chubs. Oh, how she missed it when he was a little rolly-polly. It was fun making him cry.
"Stop scaring him," said Qie Xieling and Jolie pouted her lips.
"Oh come on. It’s all in good fun," said Jolie and Qie Xieling pulled the string of the bow and said,
"Stay still."
With a whoosh, the arrow tore through the air and hit the apple accurately. Bo Ailun heaved a sigh having survived but who would have thought that Jolie would hand him another? That wasn’t even the worst part, Qie Xieling covered his eyes with a black ribbon.
"If you value your life don’t move," said Jolie.
"Your majesty, I really can’t... I am scared," he said in a soft pleading tone but Qie Xieling replied back in an almost coaxing tone,
"Shh shh shh, trust me. Be good and let me take care of it."
Luo Muchen who was standing behind the door and heard a small part of the conversation, "..."
Be good and take care of what? Bo Ailun even started sobbing after that. Luo Muchen kicked the door down seething in anger. The strong pungent smell of vinegar was choking.
Qie Xieling turned his head while taking off his blindfold. Bo Ailun took this as a sign and ran away while Jolie stayed to watch.
She knew about the rumours but she didn’t correct the elders and let them know that Bo Ailun was no lover but an adopted son who had a debt to pay. There would always be only one lover and that was Luo Muchen.
Qie Xieling raised the bow again and this time he aimed his arrow at Luo Muchen. "Do you trust me?" he asked and Luo Muchen smiled slightly before replying,
"I do."
Qie Xieling released the arrow and with a whoosh it flew inches past him and stabbed the lead falling next to Luo Muchen into the tree trunk. Luo Muchen didn’t even flinch. He just kept his gaze fixed on Qie Xieling his heart beating fast.
