Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 537: Easier to provoke a beast when they are caged
Qie Xieling appeared unaffected by Lee Ya’s remarks but he was fuming internally. He trusted his man but he didn’t trust those heifers. They looked like they were about to devour him.
As if they could feel a shift in the atmosphere, the Elders sent their men to get the women away from Luo Muchen and occupy the seats surrounding him.
Bi Yu and Zi Mixen made threats and one of them who didn’t even need to be mentioned pretended to fall like she had been pushed hard.
Master Zi who was watching from afar got up to save his daughter. He wanted to chop off their hands for daring to lay a hand on her but he caught a glimpse of Elder Song with his hand on the hilt of his sword. Elder Song was itching to start a full-blown war. The tension was high and all he needed was just a spark like the Sarajevo incident that started World War One.
Master Zi knew taking them on now in front of everyone was a bad idea so he restrained himself and sat back down. Elder Song was a little disappointed. He removed his hand from his hilt with a snort and Elder Xuan chuckled softly.
Meanwhile, Qie Xieling was busy plotting murder and insufferable torture. Well, blame it on the hormones. He was even more possessive as of late and a slight provocation would tip him over the edge.
He was about to turn away when he saw Luo Muchen raise his hands. He was holding up a poster with his name on it was the words ’I love you’ in big characters. Qie Xieling’s ears felt hot. Fuck, his man knew how to make him happy.
Lee Ya rolled her eyes as she walked away. It was annoying to watch them all lovey-dovey forcing dog food down their throats.
Lucky for her she didn’t have to endure it for long because the competition had begun. The host announced the rules which were no killing and one would lose if they were thrown off the platform or if they quit.
He then called out the names of the first two opponents. The first opponent was Bi Yize going up against a disciple from the Lee clan called Lee Jun.
The crowd had been hoping that Qie Xieling would be one of the first few to fight so they were a little disappointed but the cheers were still sonorous as they stepped on the platform.
Bi Yize glanced at Qie Xieling who was standing at the bottom of the platform and Qie Xieling met his gaze before looking away appearing disinterested.
Bi Yize was eager to impress him. He wanted to show Qie Xieling what he was missing. He sincerely believed he was better suited to protect Qie Xieling, unlike Luo Muchen. He wanted to make up for his past mistakes and prove to Qie Xieling that he had changed. Taking this as the last chance to prove himself he decided to showcase his prowess.
Bi Yize had on a calm and confident expression, and his eyes were sharp and piercing. He held a sword in his hand, but it was still in its sheath. Just his mere presence on that platform sent young women into a frenzy. Who in their right mind didn’t want to enter his courtyard and be his concubine?
On the other side, Lee Jun had a fierce expression and his eyes were full of contempt and hatred. He held a sword in his hand, and it was already unsheathed, shining with a cold light.
The host announced the start of the match, and Lee Jun wasted no time. He dashed towards Bi Yize, swinging his sword with great skill and agility. He aimed at Bi Yize’s chest, hoping to pierce his heart with one strike.
Bi Yize did not move. He stood still, watching Lee Jun’s attack with a faint smile. He did not even unsheath his sword. He simply tilted his body slightly and dodged Lee Jun’s sword by a hair’s breadth. He glanced at Qie Xieling but Qie Xieling wasn’t even looking. He was busy snacking on melon seeds while looking in Luo Muchen’s direction. His lips twitched wishing he could throw his sword at Luo Muchen and skewer him like a kebab.
Lee Jun was surprised, but he did not give up. He changed his direction and slashed at Bi Yize’s neck. Bi Yize did not move. He stood still, watching Lee Jun’s attack with a faint smile. He did not even unsheath his sword. He simply raised his left hand, and grabbed Lee Jun’s wrist, stopping his sword in mid-air.
Lee Jun was shocked, but he was persistent. He used his right hand and punched Bi Yize’s face but Bi Yize simply lowered his head and avoided Lee Jun’s fist by a millimetre.
Lee Jun was furious, but he did not have any more strength. He felt Bi Yize’s grip on his wrist tighten, and he felt a sharp pain in his arm. He looked down and saw that Bi Yize had twisted his wrist, and dislocated his elbow. He dropped his sword and cried out in agony.
Bi Yize did not stop there. He lifted his right leg, and kicked Lee Jun’s chest, sending him flying off the platform. He landed on the ground, coughing up blood before losing consciousness. The spectators were enthralled by Bi Yize’s ruthlessness especially when he had the reputation of being gentle and kind-hearted. Something must have set him off to be so harsh to someone weaker than him.
He had defeated Lee Jun with ease, without even unsheathing his sword and did not even break a sweat.
He walked off the platform and sat next to Qie Xieling. While sitting he could feel a sharp gaze slicing through his skin but he didn’t care. It is easier to provoke a beast when they are caged. If Luo Muchen dared to step into the arena he would get Qie Xieling disqualified as it counted as outside help.
