Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 30: "Watch your back,"
Qie Xieling put his hand in his pocket while mouthing, "Watch your back," before walking away coolly.
He passed by Luo Muchen without saying a word. Luo Muchen just watched him leave with a look of helplessness.
When Deming passed him though, Luo Muchen stopped him and said, "Delete that video on the school forum and your cell phone," his voice calm and cool giving one the illusion of gentleness and someone easy to bully.
"Or else what? Tsk...," he said trying to walk away.
Luo Muchen let him walk past him before saying, "Or else I will make your life hell for the rest of elementary school and high school. I will make you wish you had never even messed with Qie Xieling."
Deming felt his blood run cold as a tremor spread deep into his soul. He was even more afraid of Luo Muchen than he was afraid of Qie Xieling not because of the issued threats but rather the aura emanating from him.
Qie Xieling was the type that would revenge on you once and forget about it. Luo Muchen on the other hand, seemed to be the type that would never issue a punishment worth the crime. Deming could clearly see it in his eyes.
"You have up until tonight to meet that deadline otherwise don’t blame me for what happens next," he said his voice still as gentle as before.
After saying that he followed after Qie Xieling but didn’t dare approach. He just followed five steps behind him and when Qie Xieling stopped at the mountain peak looking at the beautiful view, Luo Muchen stopped behind him not saying a word.
Even Bo Ailun knew not to approach when Qie Xieling was in a bad mood. It was best to leave him be and let him calm down first before saying anything. Bo Ailun would rather wait until Qie Xieling came to him to initiate a conversation that way one wouldn’t step on landmines. After all, he is his father’s son. The temper came with the family lineage.
"Let’s head down east to the temple and then will head back for lunch," said teacher Wong and sounds of complaints could be heard echoing in the mountains. Everybody seemed tired and sore from all that hiking. As rich city kids, when had they ever walked this far?
"Come on, your parents consented to you facing hardships. I am just a messenger," he said and the park rangers began to lead the way while the female teacher was making a head count.
Qie Xieling remembered that he was going to pray for his dad and immediately felt way better. This wasn’t his first time being in a temple and unlike most of his classmates, he was familiar with the ins and outs.
While he was lighting a pair of candles Luo Muchen stood next to him and seemed a little confused about what to do.
He could have attached himself to teacher Wong like the others but he would much prefer being next to Qie Xieling. Qie Xieling didn’t poke fun at him. "Light up your pair of candles and put them together," he said without even looking at him.
Luo Muchen showed a subtle smile and did as told. Following Qie Xieling’s lead he lit up the bunch of incense in his hand and put out the fire. In front of the main goddess Qie Xieling leaned in close to Luo Muchen and explained what he should do.
Seeing that face that was close to his, he gulped with his breath caught in his chest. In that half a minute he switched from being nervous and sweaty to wanting to get a little closer. He was starting to feel quite feverish and would suffocate to death if this continued. Lucky for him Qie Xieling stepped back and with three incense sticks in hand, he closed his eyes before bowing three times.
The entire time Luo Muchen followed after Qie Xieling like a baby duck that had imprinted itself on the first person it saw.
Qie Xieling wasn’t bothered by it. He was still unhappy but he somewhat was unbothered by Luo Muchen’s presence. Qie Xieling sat outside overlooking the mountains while waiting for the others to finish when an ice chill brushed up against his neck. He inhaled a breath of cold air while dodging to the side.
"The fuck," he swore with his hand on his neck.
When he looked up he saw that it was Luo Muchen who had been pressing a bottle of peach iced tea on his neck.
"Here," said Luo Muchen as he sat next to Qie Xieling.
"Class president, how did you even know that I like this," said Qie Xieling while accepting the bottle.
Luo Muchen didn’t want to answer that question. In his long quest to impress and get close to Qie Xieling, he knew a lot of things. "I have two eyes," he replied and Qie Xieling didn’t doubt that. He drank this almost every day and it was like a daily staple.
While he was twisting the cap open, Luo Muchen asked, "You bought a talisman?"
Qie Xieling took out the red and gold bag while saying, "Yeah, for my dad. He keeps working overtime sometimes and he gets really tired and ill the next day. I brought it for him."
Luo Muchen who was as clueless as Qie Xieling nodded his head in understanding. He also wanted to buy a talisman for his mother but she would probably mock him for believing in feudal superstition.
Luo Muchen still wanted to know what happened last night. He wanted to know the full story but he really didn’t know how to ask. He had seen the video and watching that broke his heart. He couldn’t let those idiots get away with it but he still wanted to know why Qie Xieling even went there in the first place.
He shuffled a little closer and was about to ask when Bo Ailun came from behind them and draped his arms on both their shoulders.
"Why are you two sitting here all alone? I was looking for you everywhere," he said before squeezing between the two separating them. "Look what I got," he excitedly said and Qie Xieling leaned in closer pulling the small fanny pack open.
"The way you are so proud I thought you got something illegal," said Qie Xieling taking out two twirling lollipops.
He moved his hand behind Bo Ailun and tapped Luo Muchen’s shoulder with one of the twirl lollipops.
Luo Muchen who was starting to feel like the third wheel again was a little surprised. He didn’t think Qie Xieling would give him one.
While unwrapping the lollipop Qie Xieling asked, "Do you prefer the strawberry and cream one?" and Luo Muchen nodded his head.
Qie Xieling directly handed over the one he unwrapped and took the tropical mango flavour from Luo Muchen.
Bo Ailun, "..."
He also liked the strawberry and cream flavour so why wasn’t he given priority? Luo Muchen just stared at the lollipop with an indescribable emotion in his eyes.
