Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 201: Second base
Seeing King Luo sitting at the table with a tray of food in front of him, Qie Xieling suddenly felt hungry. He was either hungry for King Luo or the food covered underneath. Whichever one it was he was not going to pass up the opportunity.
Qie Xieling rose gracefully as King Luo opened the metal food cover dome. The aroma of roasted chicken wafted through the air, tickling Qie Xieling’s senses and causing his stomach to rumble in response. He was now more than certain that he was hungry for food more than for King Luo.
His gaze never left the king’s face, a playful smirk dancing on his lips. King Luo smiled warmly, his eyes sparkling with affection as he motioned for Qie Xieling to join him.
"Your tummy is already singing," said King Luo and Qie Xieling wasn’t embarrassed in the slightest. "Come and sit," his voice soft and inviting. He pulled out a chair, its polished wood gleaming in the warm glow of the candlelight. The table had been set with care, adorned with dinner rolls and a small bowl of rich gravy to accompany the succulent roasted chicken.
Qie Xieling obeyed, his eyes fixed on King Luo. The way his heart was pounding in his chest made him even more terrified of what would happen when they stepped out of this game.
He brushed off the feeling weighing heavy in his chest and sat there without reaching for the food on the table.
He had decided to test the boundaries in this situationship and see how far King Luo was willing to go. With a mischievous glint in his eyes, he looked up at King Luo. "Your Majesty," Qie Xieling started, his voice barely above a whisper, "would you feed me?"
King Luo was about to tell him not to call him that as it felt weird but his eyebrows shot up in surprise when he heard his coquettish words.
He had not anticipated such a request, but he was willing to indulge Qie Xieling’s whims. With his strong arm, he pulled Qie Xieling’s chair closer till their knees were brushing against each other in a delightful intimacy that sent shivers down Qie Xieling’s spine.
An image suddenly flashed in his mind like they had most definitely done this before. Before he could even make sense of the flashback, another image of Luo Muchen feeding him soup sprung up on him and for a moment his mind was elsewhere.
His brows creased his gaze a little distant and King Luo noticed. He had no idea what or who Qie Xieling was thinking about. His eyes droop a little and his mind suddenly strayed back to what Yunning said earlier. In this moment he seemed to forget that Jolie told him that this wasn’t the Eling he knew before but Qie Xieling.
"Would... would you do anything for Yana?" he suddenly asked and Qie Xieling snapped out of it.
With a puzzled look on his face, he asked, "Huh?... What are you mentioning her for? I am hungry."
From Qie Xieling’s expression, he really looked like he didn’t care for her but this wasn’t enough for him. He leaned in closer and asked, "Would you do anything for me?" his voice as alluring as the song of sirens at sea.
Qie Xieling, "..."
His heart jolted in his chest like it had been electrocuted. He grabbed the tray about to feed himself when a hand covered his. Qie Xieling looked up and met King Luo’s gaze. King Luo rubbed the back of his hand as he pulled it away from the tray.
Qie Xieling glanced down at his hand that was being held by him and he internally swore, ’Shit,’ having realised that he was truly done for. This was it. He had fallen hard for a game version of his friend. He took his hand back but King Luo didn’t react.
A tender smile graced his lips as he picked up a piece of roasted chicken, his fingers brushing lightly against the golden skin. He extended his hand toward Qie Xieling, offering the morsel.
"Here," he said his throat bobbing with a fiery yet tender gaze. Qie Xieling’s breath caught in his throat, his heart fluttering as he leaned forward, parting his lips to receive the bite. The tender meat melted on his tongue, its flavours exploding in his mouth. But it wasn’t just the taste of the food that thrilled him. It was the intimacy of the moment, the unspoken connection between them.
As King Luo continued to feed him, Qie Xieling’s eyes never left his face. With each bite, their bond deepened, and the unspoken words of love resonated between them. It was a dance of trust and vulnerability, a silent affirmation of their affection that neither of them had publicly expressed.
Time seemed to stand still as they shared the meal, lost in their own world, oblivious to the outside pressures and responsibilities that awaited them. His simple act of feeding Qie Xieling became a ritual, a symbol of his devotion to him.
"Do you like it?" he asked and Qie Xieling moved his leg a little. Their knees were brushing against each other making a brush creep up Qie Xieling’s cheeks.
"I like it a lot. It tastes good," he said but King Luo wasn’t too happy about that response. He wished Qie Xieling was enjoying the food he cooked instead of what Boran made.
Like he had a sixth sense Qie Xieling went on to say. "But I would enjoy it better if you made it."
King Luo couldn’t help but chuckle softly his eyes turning into crescent moons as he took a bite of the chicken. He really wanted to kiss him. No wonder he fell in love with him in another world.
They finished their meal and Qie Xieling slipped underneath the quilt but his ankle was suddenly caught and he was pulled out. His eyes widened as he spun around only to find King Luo lying on top of him with his hand pressed against the bed.
"Ah, why so impatient? Fine, we can only go as far as the second base. Just don’t try and get out of wearing those clothes tomorrow," he said and King Luo who wasn’t pulling him out of the quilt for that couldn’t help but chuckle.
"I pulled you out so you can go take a bath. You aren’t going to sleep like that after all that happened today."
Qie Xieling, "..."
