Chapter 340: Chapter 277: Fall of the Calvanot Empire 2

The man had gray hair, a face covered in wrinkles.

He spoke quickly, panic in his voice, "My apologies for his lack of manners Apostle Gray. Lucas is a very strange kid, also known to the church."

Gray swatted her hand dismissively, a smirk on her face, "No worries, Eric I found him quite amusing."

Eric’s shoulders lowered, a relieved expression on his face. "Well that’s good. Would you like some refreshments?"

Gray shook her head, "No, I have to complete a task, Lucas will tell you the details."

Eric simply bowed respectfully as she made her way out the church, Lucas waving goodbye.

"Head Priest, Eric she ruined my afro I worked hard to comb it," Lucas said, all the while holding a mirror as he gazed at his reflection. He was using his other hand to try and mold it into a state that was acceptable.

Eric raised his head now that Gray was gone, hissing at him, "Never be that bold to talk back to an Apostle! Especially Gray. You were lucky not to have been turned into a doll!!"

Lucas’ response to the scorn he was facing was a look of confusion as he tilted his head.

Eric sighed, "Nevermind.... what did she tell you?"

As soon as the explanation had finished leaving the boy’s lips, Eric’s face turned pale. Sweat started dripping down it as he processed what he’d just heard.

"Everyone listen quickly. Half of you need to seal all windows while the rest activate the holy barrier! There’s no time to waste!"

Hearing his shout, the priests and healers were brought out of their prayers. Quickly shuffling around the church. A wave of voice started filling the once quiet area.

Their faces held urgency and understanding in it. There were some regular civilians inside, unlike the priests and healers they looked clueless. They held gazes filled with confusion and a slight glint of fear at the urgency all suddenly gained.

Lucas looked around frantically as the church members carried out Eric’s order.

He turned to him, "Head Priest Eric what is going to happen? There isn’t any news of a monster wave."

"There is something going to be worse than that. This Empire is going to turn into a hell on earth," Eric said as sweat dripped down his face, his fist tightening.

Through gritted teeth he muttered, "It’s their fault for provoking Paige’s church."

As Gray walked through the bustling streets people looked at her with mocking gazes due to her clearly being a member from the church due to her outfit, while others ignored her presence entirely. Her bald head shone underneath the sunlight.

"Hey beautiful, why don’t you come with us?’’

Gray turned towards the source of the voice. There she saw a man and woman, both standing before her.

"Even though you’re bald, your body proportions are great," The woman complimented, all the while looking Gray up and down with a smile.

"I heard that the church isn’t doing well nowadays, so I’d you spend a night or two with us, I could pay you 3 silver coins," the man said with a cheeky smirk.

"You’ll enjoy the best threesome of your life," the man claimed. The woman beside him nodded silently in agreement.

"How annoying," Gray muttered as a black portal appeared behind her. From it, two large hands emerged, grabbing both the man and woman by the face. Their eyes widened with shock but before they could let out a single sound, their heads were crushed. Blood splattered onto the stone sidewalk.

Screams started to fill the air, as people witnessed her kill the two individuals.

The screams didn’t seem to bother her; however, as she got down on her knees. Raising her head to the sky, her hands clasped together, "Please bless me with your divine power to enforce judgment on this disgusting empire."

Once Gray was done praying her body glowed with a bright pink aura and the cross underneath her eyes glowed before she got up with a sinister grin.

A golden and black hoop appeared over her head as two huge golden keys appeared in her hand.

At this point, those who saw her kill the two people started to run away, while some were paralyzed with shock and fear. Chaos filled the area.

"Big sister; you may kill them all," Gray commanded and a huge black and golden doll with 6 arms emerged from a black portal.

The second it fully stepped out, a massive pressure was released, causing those who started to run and those paralyzed in fear to cough up blood.

None could withstand the pressure, either fainting or dying on the spot.

The doll was in the shape of a woman, having empty eyes as its body had a pink glow.

It was up to 30 feet tall and faint lines of thread could be seen connecting it and Gray to each other.

The big doll stretched out its arms as tens of thousands of portals started to appear across numerous places in the empire.

Puppets of all sizes came out of them, beginning to attack the people. The citizens, confused and afraid, were unable to combat them. About 100 people died just in the first minute.

There was chaos. People ran frantically, screaming in terror while other’s clutched their wounds. Children crying at the loss of their parents.

Knights of the kingdom arrived as quickly as possible, doing their best to fight off the sudden enemies.

It proved too difficult as seemingly endless golems and puppets poured out of the portals. The knights were quickly overwhelmed. Some of the golems casted explosion magic, destroying the surrounding areas and many buildings, buildings that held those attempting to hide from them.

5 minutes later

A figure appeared before Gray, wearing all black clothing. It raised its head, revealing its hollow eyes along with a wooden face.

"Master, we have taken over the palace and the knights protecting it are dead. The only ones spared are the nobles you said to leave."

"Good, make sure they have no idea of the situation that is happening to the empire," Gray commanded.

"As you wish master," the puppet lowered its head once more before disappearing in a flash.

"Time to turn the empire’s own army into my personal puppets."

The first puppet which had emerged, known as the sister puppet, had been beside Gray during the whole invasion.

It had been still but once the words left Gray’s lips it moved once more. Stretching its hand onto the ground as Gray walked towards it.

She sat in the palm of the sister puppet, resting her legs on top of each other thigh to thigh. The sister puppet raised her up, elevating itself as well.

Gray started scanning all around until her eyes rested on one place in particular.

"Let’s go there. That’s where the leaders of this pathetic kingdom stay," Gray instructed and the puppet lowered slightly before launching itself up in the air.

Now that she was up high Gray could see everything. She looked down coldly at the now burning empire. The ground was dyed red with the blood of the citizens, tall building structures were collapsing. She was able to still spot a few people running around. Trying their best to escape the puppets but they were never able to. Some ran into closed off alleys, being surrounded while others simply weren’t fast enough.

To her surprise a few attempted to fight back, including the remnants of the knights order as well as a few Adventurer’s.

No matter how many puppets and golems were destroyed, many more emerged from the portals. It was a seemingly endless wave of monsters. Monsters who felt no pain, grew tired, or had emotions. Their sole purpose was to kill.
