“Battlefield Mission: Rescue the Innocent, Mission Briefing: Miss Alu believes that among the Magic Thieves there are also innocent people. Oh benevolent spirits… please rescue them. Mission Objective: Save the Magic Thief civilians trapped by the great fire. Mission Reward: Gratitude coupons from Kitty.”

Queen Mei stood at the entrance of the third floor, looking out over the Magic Thieves’ village set ablaze.
When the players had begun their battle with the Magic Thieves, Queen Mei had already received Jiang Qiao’s message… she arrived at the scene with the Lion Heart Knight and the Carriage Shop in tow.
As for the starting base, Jiang Qiao had left it to the axe-wielding man and the Hawkeye Knight to defend. And naturally, in fitting with the Biland Island attire, they were both decked out in cat headgear.
The axe-wielding man sported a black cat headgear, and the Hawkeye Knight sported a Siamese cat.
“Was it their ruler who set the fire?”
Queen Mei stood beside the Carriage Shop, gazing at the distant village being consumed by flames. When she had entered this place with the players… the village was already on fire.
“In the past, your General Black Ash, who guarded the frontier, would do such things,” remarked the Lion Heart Knight as he observed the flames in the distance, “They would rather burn the entire town to ashes than leave anything for the enemy. That’s the cruelty of… war,” he sighed.
Queen Mei pursed her lips slightly without a word, but now the players in the distance were progressively unearthing the Magic Thief civilians buried in the ruins.
“But, the saints are not engaged in war. As the proxy said… this is their playground,” Queen Mei said as she watched the players helping out the civilians, a smile involuntarily spreading across her face.
However, her smile didn’t last long before it stiffened upon hearing the players’ devilish laughter.
“Damn, damn, damn! Black Pot, you’re so out of line! That was an NPC I rescued!”
“Hahaha! Can Xin, if you catch me, I’ll give it to you. Whoever hands it to Kitty first wins! I’m outta here!”
Black Pot was carrying a Magic Thief girl, who had fainted, on his back—a prize snatched right from Can Xin’s hands.
To the players, this rescue mission was just a mini-game that followed after breaching the instance’s stronghold… and naturally, mini-games are supposed to be fun.
“Armless! Activate awakening!”
Can Xin, an Elemental Mage, certainly could not outrun Black Pot, a Wandering Gunman, so he just bellowed at Armless near Miss Kitty in the distance.
Armless, a Ghost Cry player from their guild, paused in place upon hearing his guild leader’s command.
“But leader, using awakening directly wouldn’t kill the NPC girl?”
“She’s neutral! Our skills won’t harm them! Turn on PK, use! The! Awakening!”
Can Xin growled out those words through gritted teeth.
At their guild leader’s command, Armless had nothing else to consider. He positioned his hand over his katana as the Ghost God Runes that covered his arm all lit up, and the spectral images of numerous ghost gods materialized behind him.
In the next second, the ground beneath Black Pot’s feet became a treacherous swamp.
“Damn you, Can Xin! You’d actually go this far!”
The ground under Black Pot began to quake, and suddenly, a massive beast erupted from the swamp below, biting viciously towards Black Pot.
The Seventh Ghost God, Braxius!
Black Pot, burdened with an NPC, had no way to dodge, so he could only watch in dismay as the awakening attack instantly killed him, turning him into a gravestone; the poor Magic Thief girl lay fallen on the ground.
“That’s the price for taking something from our Abyss Temple,” said Can Xin as he walked up to Black Pot’s gravestone, gave it a kick, then picked up the Magic Thief girl and moved toward Miss Kitty.
“…”
Queen Mei’s expression right now was ‘Σ(ŎдŎ|||)’. She knew the saints had a powerful awakening skill, but this was the first time she had seen a Ghost Cry player release their own awakening.
What was that terrifying Ghost God all about?
No… the crux of the problem was why could these saints so easily unleash such horrifying skills aimed at their own comrades?
Queen Mei had actually had the answer in her heart for a long time, but the problem was that experiencing it firsthand still felt somewhat horrifying.
However, that horror quickly faded with a gaze filled with hostility. Queen Mei’s eyes turned towards a corner of the town, and a figure vanished the moment her gaze shifted there.
“Alu, don’t get distracted. There might still be enemies nearby.”
Lion Heart Knight saw that the players had already gathered and began to play his role as Old Man Donna.
“Mmm.” Queen Mei didn’t chase after the Magic Thief hiding in the building, for her current task was to protect the civilians brought by the players.
Meanwhile, on the other side… Aixin hid on the second story of a building, his entire being plunged into a state of contemplating life.
Queen Mei could understand why the saints would fight amongst themselves, but Aixin could not!
What was the creature that had just burrowed out from the ground? A Ghost God?
The saints summoned such a powerful Ghost God… just to kill their own kin?
As Aixin thought about this, he cautiously raised his head to look again at the distance, the location of Black Ash stewing meat had completely turned into a grave.
Indeed… they were a bunch of brutal characters.
What Aixin wanted to do now was to rescue his kin, but among those saints, there were two very formidable beings, especially that figure wearing a cat headgear. Just looking at her made Aixin’s heart palpitate.
As Aixin was wrestling with the idea of which saint to join, and specifically whom to ally with… heavy footsteps suddenly sounded below in the building.
Aixin’s sword was half-drawn, and he carefully approached beside the stairs…
Just as the figure began climbing the stairs, and Aixin was preparing to draw his sword to attack, he stopped his hand’s movement halfway.
Because she was carrying an ordinary civilian.
“You’re also trapped by the fire? Hmm… I have an intuition, you must be an SSR, right?”
“What SSR?”
Aixin warily watched this figure dressed in a simple gray robe, feeling as if he had seen the person somewhere before!
“This place is about to collapse, if you go out, you may get attacked by other saints, so do you want to join me? I guarantee to sell you for a good price… ah no, find you a good home.”
Magic Thief had been lurking in the ruins for nearly three days. She had almost cleared out all the valuable things inside the ruins, only because of the enemy, she couldn’t move the entire building away.
But now, Magic Thief had discovered an even better business and that was moving NPCs!
The last deal Magic Thief messed up, this one she had to make a hefty profit from!
“You… are willing to introduce me to other saints?” Aixin’s mind was filled with the mission entrusted by Denghis Xisi.
“Yep yep yep! No one knows how to sell better than me! And nobody understands how to sell NPCs better than me!” Magic Thief nodded her head incessantly as she spoke.
