Chapter 146: Chapter 145 How Can I Just Not Control This Hand? (1 more)

It was now 2 a.m., and various guilds and players had essentially completed the first step in pioneering: securing a spot to claim their territory.

Jiang Qiao floated above Biland Island in the form of a light sphere, with Hai Lan also drifting alongside him.

“All the portals they’ve built have to be activated?”

Hai Lan had unusually had her fill today, grasping a can of Want Want milk in her hand and sipping through a straw.

“Whichever is constructed first will be the one activated,” Jiang Qiao said as he looked down at Biland Island. From his high vantage point, Jiang Qiao could only see a corner of Biland Island.

Yet in that corner, players had already started building their strongholds in succession. There were a total of thirty-seven strongholds on Biland Island, twelve of which were constructed from the Hardy Hold Seed.

...

The most aggressive of these was the stronghold of the Abyss Temple. Situated farthest from the initial stronghold, it lay within a forest completely crystallized, surrounded by various lord-level monsters.

The next was the stronghold of the Dancing Nuclear Guild.

However, looking at the current stage of completion of the strongholds, the one built by the Abyss Temple was unexpectedly much further along than the one by the Dancing Nuclear Guild.

The Dancing Nuclear Guild was still at the stage of building walls, whereas the Abyss Temple had not only completed their walls but had constructed them to a height of ten meters. In comparison, the five-meter-high walls of the Dancing Nuclear Guild seemed more like decorations.

Because they were closer to the safe zone around the initial stronghold, other guilds deemed walls as the least essential construction. Instead, they were busy researching other things, such as portals.

Jiang Qiao was currently floating above the stronghold of the Cola Fanatic Guild. The Cola Fanatics were incredibly timid; their stronghold was built practically next to the initial one.

Timid as they were, the structures they built were quite bizarre. The first thing they constructed wasn’t any sort of wall but a bottle… a super-sized cola bottle, specifically a commemorative glass bottle from 1991.

“The Nuclear Cola Divine Sect?” Jiang Qiao drifted above, observing their guild’s constructors stack one piece of building material after another onto this giant cola bottle.

Cola was the emblem of their club, as well as its crest and flag. Seeing the scale of their ambition, Jiang Qiao guessed they intended to build a cola bottle inside the stronghold as tall as the Eiffel Tower.

‘A mysterious civilization had built a marvel.’

For some reason, this phrase popped up in Jiang Qiao’s mind, but he quickly turned his attention to another construction project of the Cola Fanatic Guild.

That was the mainline quest portal.

The portal was one of Jiang Qiao’s schemes, a real scam, fooling the players out of their collected Mother Crystals.

Everything on Biland Island could bring Creation Energy to Hai Lan; the corpses of lord-level monsters, for each one the players killed, and each one Hai Lan devoured, she could extract between twenty to fifty points of energy.

The Mother Crystals within those monsters were the most essence-rich source of energy, with lord-level Mother Crystals being around fifty points each.

If players hoarded the Mother Crystals in their backpacks or used them all for farming… Jiang Qiao would definitely feel he was at a loss.

So he used the portals to ‘recycle’ the players’ Mother Crystals, much like disassemblers.

Now, the highest contributor was the Cola Fanatic Guild.

“Should I say, as expected of the chief chairman of the Fureya Protection Association?”

Jiang Qiao descended from the sky and sat atop the portal of the Cola Fanatic Guild.

This portal was the most commonly seen circular structure, about five meters tall, with an energy pool underneath it that radiated light.

This portal was a mainline quest structure given for free by the system. It would automatically grow once Fureya’s portal fragments were buried in the soil.

“Chairman, I’ve asked around our guild, and most of our Mother Crystals have been tossed into the charging pool of the portal, keeping a few epic ones as seeds,” said a guild member, dumping their bag upside down to reveal three Mother Crystals glowing with a crimson light.

These Mother Crystals were epic seeds produced inside lord-level monsters, of the same grade as the Flame Roar Mother Crystals.

“Throw them in,” Xue Bi looked at the bubbling energy pool in front of him, feeling an odd sensation as if he were some major villain.

“Chairman, this is our guild’s startup fund. If we toss all of it in, we won’t have enough resources to build our guild stronghold,” said the member with concern.

“Resources can be directly bought with money, so just throw them in,” Bubble said, feeling even more like a villain, especially with the guild members behind him looking at the three mother crystals with pained eyes.

“Right, since the guild leader is rich.”

The member got the idea and tossed the three mother crystals into the energy pool.

The progress bar in the energy pool rose by 0.3, that number of increase…

“Based on this rate, we only need a thousand epic mother crystals,” Bubble crouched in front of the energy pool, observing the data within it at this stage.

Their guild members had thrown in nearly two thousand ordinary and inferior mother crystals, and now the energy pool’s charge had only reached one percent.

Sure enough, that’s the thinking of a tycoon, Jiang Qiao thought, listening nearby. Logically, other guild leaders would be thinking ‘we only need to kill a thousand epic bosses.’

Bubble was thinking about buying them directly.

“Xue Bi, what’s the current price of an epic mother crystal on 4396?” Bubble called out to the player behind him who was an Ice Master.

Ice Master is one of the specialty jobs of an Elemental Mage, characterized as a Magic Warrior. Agile, strong, and intelligent, an Ice Master’s magic damage certainly isn’t as high as a real Mage’s, but the unique feature of the game is that Ice Masters can punch people with their fists.

“Right now on 4396, there is only one epic mother crystal for sale, priced at 110,000,” Xue Bi responded as if she were playing the role of a secretary of sorts.

“Buy it,” Bubble said.

“Guild Leader, a mother crystal is something every epic boss will drop; I don’t think it’s worth the price, not even at one-tenth,” Xue Bi voiced her opinion.

Bubble didn’t reply to Xue Bi; he opened his web browser and began browsing 4396, entering ‘epic mother crystal’ into the search.

Xue Bi’s face darkened as she grabbed Bubble’s arm with both hands.

“Guild Leader! I think you’ve spent too much money on this game, especially on such meaningless things!”

“This… this is an investment! Just… just like when I… built the club… before, didn’t we… earn back the capital?”

Bubble was just a weak Elemental Bomber, who naturally couldn’t match Xue Bi’s power as an Ice Master Martial Artist. To stop Bubble from doing something foolish, Xue Bi even initiated PK mode.

“The club had investment potential, I can accept you spending big on fortress construction, that’s useful for club publicity, but… mother crystals are items that will inevitably depreciate in the future. Spending money on them is simply falling into the game officials’ trap! If you want mother crystals, we can kill the epic bosses on this map.”

“By grinding… if we count killing four a day… it would take at least half a year to… open this portal! Let go of me! Xue Bi!” Bubble’s hands were trembling as he tried to click on the purchase interface.

“You’ve really been a bit off lately, Guild Leader.”

“Let go of me… I want to spend money! Ah!”

Bubble was forcibly pulled away from the bubbling energy pool by Xue Bi, under the silent gaze of mourning guild members, his cries for Cola echoing throughout the entire camp.

“Fureya… Fureya is still living inside a tree hole!”

“Is this confusing reality with the game?” Jiang Qiao sat on the portal, scratching his head somewhat helplessly as he watched the scene below.

“This is reality,” Hai Lan emphasized.

“Reality…” Jiang Qiao stood up from the portal, looking back towards the sea on the other side of Biland Island.

At that moment, Jiang Qiao happened to see a ship heading towards Biland Island. If all was as expected, it should be the vessel of Miss Lyla.

“The efficiency of buying groceries has exceeded my expectations,” Jiang Qiao glanced once more at the guild leader, Bubble, who was kneeling on the ground, being lectured by Xue Bi about ‘you’re not young anymore, you’re a successful businessman, how can you fall into such a childish spending trap’ and the like.

“Guild Leader! Otherworld dried meat is on sale at 4396!” someone in the guild shouted.

“What?!”

Upon hearing this news, Bubble, who had just been saying ‘I can control myself,’ immediately opened the official website of 4396.
