Run Away After Flirting: Get Lost, Mr. Attorney!-Chapter 140: Then Starting Tomorrow, Shall We Begin Dating?
"I don’t know, it’s none of my business," Summer Nolan said with a smile.
"How can it have nothing to do with you? Don’t you still like him and want to reconcile?" Ian Sterling deliberately asked.
"Cough... that was before." She could only continue acting.
So has she really decided to let go of that man? Ian Sterling’s lips curled slightly... Not far away in a car, a man with long legs stacked in the back seat watched them walking the dog together in the neighborhood, looking very much like a couple in love.
His cold and handsome face became even colder. She really is seamlessly moving on!!
Taking out his phone, he dialed her number. After several rings, the call was finally answered, and a cold female voice came through: "Hello, what’s up?"
"Elias seems to be in labor. Could you come to the villa quickly? I can’t handle it..." Elias Spencer said anxiously.
"If you can’t handle it, call a vet or bring Elias to my place," Summer Nolan said coldly, not wanting to go to his house anymore.
"Just come over first," he said in a deep voice before hanging up. He was confident he could break them apart.
Elias giving birth?! Summer Nolan frowned... Should she go?
Ian Sterling overheard the call, suspecting the man just wanted an excuse to get her over there.
"Do you still want to be entangled with him? If you keep going to his house, he’ll just think you can’t live without him. I know a really great vet. Let him come over to help; it should be fine."
"Give me the vet’s number then, and I’ll have him go to Elias Spencer’s place." Summer Nolan accepted the suggestion.
That man strangling his assistant’s scene has been deeply imprinted in her bones. How could she keep getting entangled with him?
Seeing her resolute this time, Ian Sterling felt relieved and gave her the vet’s number.
Elias Spencer had returned to his villa and was currently in a large bedroom on the first floor.
He looked at his ’daughter’ resting in its bed, feeding it some jerky, and petting its head, asking in a deep voice:
"Are you going into labor tonight? When your mom arrives, and if she finds out we lied to her, she won’t come over again."
Elias’s appetite was great, and its spirit was high, happily munching on the jerky with no signs of labor.
"When she comes, even if you can’t give birth, you can at least pretend to whimper a few times pitifully, got it?" Elias Spencer advised once more, not sure if the little guy understood it.
After waiting half an hour, the villa’s doorbell rang. The housekeeper went to open the door and, seeing someone claiming to be a vet called by Attorney Nolan, let him in.
Elias Spencer, looking sharp in a crisp white shirt, was sitting on the sofa, crossing his long legs. When he saw only a man walk in, his expression turned sour—
Was she not always so concerned about Elias? Now that it was about to give birth, she didn’t even show up?
"Did Summer Nolan ask you to come?" he asked coldly, questioning whether that man was more important than Elias.
"Yes, Attorney Spencer, could you take me to see the dog?" The vet responded respectfully to him.
Knowing he had to let the vet examine the dog to avoid suspicion from her, Elias Spencer stood up and took him to Elias’s exclusive bedroom.
The vet opened his medical kit, put on a pair of sterile gloves, and performed a thorough check-up on the dog, then said:
"Attorney Spencer, your dog has no immediate signs of labor, but it should be in the next couple of days."
"Call Summer Nolan and tell her the dog won’t let you near; ask her to come over. Don’t worry, you’ll be rewarded," Elias Spencer said, arms crossed.
Who wouldn’t take easy money? The vet obediently took out his phone and dialed her number. The call was quickly answered, but it wasn’t a woman’s voice on the other end; it was a deep male voice.
"Hello..." Ian Sterling, having coffee at Summer Nolan’s house while she changed clothes in the bedroom, answered her ringing phone.
The vet quickly covered the receiver, whispering to the man in front of him, "Attorney Spencer, it’s answered by Mr. Sterling..."
Remembering clearly the voices and dogs of these wealthy bigwigs, Elias Spencer secretly gritted his teeth, his cool face instantly darkening. He glanced at the time; it was already past ten. Were they still together?
Would they spend the night together again?
"Ask him to get Summer Nolan on the phone."
The vet nodded and said to the person on the other end, "Please ask Mr. Sterling to have Attorney Nolan pick up the phone..."
"...She went to take a shower and isn’t available," Ian Sterling said deliberately. Summer Nolan walked out from her bedroom, hearing his words but said nothing.
Was it Elias Spencer calling?
The fact that these few words came out of that man’s mouth made Elias Spencer’s face turn as dark as the bottom of a pot, and he grimly waved the vet off, who then hung up the call.
Summer Nolan walked over to the man sitting on the sofa and said, "Finish your coffee and head back; I need to rest."
Ian Sterling, slightly nervous, turned around. Did she see him take her call?
"I just answered it since you didn’t come out."
"Mm, it’s fine." She replied nonchalantly, thinking it was good to give that man a little sting, letting him know she was being pursued; who needed him anyway?
Relaxed since she wasn’t angry, Ian Sterling stood up, moved in front of her, and took the opportunity to make a suggestion:
"Let’s be together, my idea is... to fake a relationship. Only this way will Elias Spencer give up. You don’t understand how someone who is often in control finds it hard to accept someone taking things away from him."
Summer Nolan glanced at him, considering Elias Spencer’s antics today, and wanting to get closer to this man, she nodded without hesitation:
"Okay."
Ian Sterling was surprised yet delighted that she agreed, clearly determined to separate from Elias Spencer, and he couldn’t help but hold her hand.
"Shall we start dating from tomorrow?"
Summer Nolan calmly pulled her hand back, reminding him, "We can date, but please, Mr. Sterling, keep a respectable distance. You said earlier we’re just pretending to be a couple."
"If I wanted to be a real couple with you, would you agree?" he asked, looking at her.
"No, I can’t invest in another relationship so soon," she replied.
Ian Sterling nodded understandingly. Pretending to be a couple was better than just being friends; at least their relationship had progressed somewhat.
After he left, Summer Nolan was about to take a shower when her phone rang again. Seeing it was Elias Spencer, she hesitated to pick it up but was worried about Elias’s situation.
Didn’t the vet say he couldn’t get near Elias?
"Hello..." she answered reluctantly.
"That man is more important than both Elias and the lives it’s carrying?" Elias Spencer asked in a cold voice, deliberately provoking.
"Isn’t the vet there with you?"
"Elias wouldn’t let him get close, so he left."
