Ruling the Historical Romance Novel as the Female Supporting Character-Chapter 253: The Uncooperative Man
Su Yijia shivered and melted into Qin Kaize’s embrace. His firm grip on her waist kept her from falling. Like a little chick, she was lifted onto his lap, and his tender, scattered kisses ignited her senses, leaving her slightly breathless and dazed.
"Take the medicine first," Su Yijia murmured softly.
Her words seemed to spark a flame in Qin Kaize’s heart, as if they were pouring hot oil on it. His scent, a blend of coldness and passion like sea salt blown across glaciers, enveloped her.
Unable to resist, Qin Kaize’s fingers traced the hem of her shirt, subtly caressing the soft skin beneath. Though he had no teeth to taste her, the temptation was irresistible. He closed his eyes slightly and buried his head in Su Yijia’s neck, trying to calm his growing impatience.
Unseen by Su Yijia, his deep, dark eyes sparkled with a passionate, galaxy-like brilliance. Su Yijia’s mouth hung open slightly as she struggled to regain her composure, feeling the man’s rapid breaths. Despite the urge to tease him, she considered that he might recover quickly and decided it would be better to maintain a warm approach.
Testing the waters seemed a good idea. If she found herself at a disadvantage, she could always be gentle. But if they were evenly matched, she would be as daring as she wished. As for the possibility of not being able to handle it, Su Yijia believed that was impossible. If needed, she could always rely on her versatile system to come up with a remedy.
"Come on, hurry and take the medicine," Su Yijia eagerly shoved the pill into Qin Kaize’s mouth. He swallowed it, but the bitter taste caused him pain, making him clamp his lips shut. Although he didn’t break into a cold sweat this time, his face remained pale, resembling a thin sheet of paper.
It took a full half-hour for Qin Kaize’s breathing to gradually steady. He didn’t let Su Yijia off his lap and wheeled himself toward the bathroom.
"Where are you taking me?" Su Yijia pushed against his chest, only to be held more tightly by his arms.
"Be good, let’s go take another bath together," Qin Kaize tilted his head to kiss her chin. His cool fingers stroked her waist again.
Su Yijia’s eyes widened in disbelief. "You just finished feeling pain and now you want to do this?"
She realized that he was even more daring than she had imagined.
"Maybe I’m already better," Qin Kaize said with a weak but eager smile.
Su Yijia protested but didn’t struggle too hard to avoid waking others. Ultimately, she was coaxed into the bathroom.
When they emerged, Su Yijia was curled up like a cat on Qin Kaize’s broad chest, wearing a slightly smug expression. Qin Kaize’s face was dark, like a thick ink that couldn’t be dissolved. He had hoped to showcase his prowess but was instead met with a harsh reality, leaving him mentally bruised.
Wrapped in a blanket, Su Yijia clung to its edge with her small hands, her eyes sparkling as she looked at him.
"Be good, sleep now," Qin Kaize gently covered her eyes and chuckled despite the situation.
Su Yijia, who was slightly exhausted from the day’s events, yawned and nestled into his arms. Her feet rested on his thigh. Qin Kaize cradled her like a child, allowing her to sleep on him.
After their bath, his body was still cool from the water, but he quickly warmed up, like a living furnace. Su Yijia, in her sleep, wriggled uncomfortably and tried to move down, but Qin Kaize tightened his embrace.
When his body could not move before, Qin Kaize had wished to hold her like this while sleeping. Now that he could, he wasn’t going to let her go. He reached behind him for a large fan and gently fanned her.
After a while, Su Yijia’s restless movements subsided, and her breathing became steady. Her forehead smoothed out as she relaxed. Qin Kaize kissed her forehead, holding her close with the fan still in hand.
Before falling asleep, he reminded himself to buy an electric fan the next day.
In stark contrast to their warmth, on the other side of the base, a heated argument was unfolding, nearly tearing apart the relationship between the partners.
"Xue Qianhao, are you even a man?! You can’t even protect your wife properly and are forcing me to apologize to some unknown woman?!" Wang Futong stood in front of the sofa, glaring fiercely at her husband of barely a month.
Did he think that just because he had risen to his current position, he was all capable? If Qin Kaize hadn’t been injured, he wouldn’t have even gotten this position.
"How am I supposed to protect you? You spoke so harshly in front of the team today. If you don’t apologize, how am I supposed to explain this to them?" Xue Qianhao suppressed his anger and shouted.
He clenched his fists, barely restraining himself from slapping her. He regretted marrying Wang Futong, who had liked Qin Kaize in the past. If he had known, he would never have married her. Her beauty meant nothing if she was lifeless in the dark.
The team members were clearly not supportive of him as the leader and were only waiting for him to make a fool of himself.
"You’re the one in charge, so what do you need to explain? Qin Kaize used to command the team without question, and no one dared to oppose him. If I had known you were so useless, I would have..." Wang Futong’s words were cut off by a sharp kick to her side.
She fell to the ground, stunned and in pain. The kick snapped her back to her senses.
"You hit me? How dare you hit me? I’m going to report you to the leaders!" Wang Futong yelled in fury.
"Go ahead! Go report me! I’ll also report you for being unfaithful, causing trouble, and publicly insulting me. Don’t think that just because your uncle is the director, I have to be a pushover. I’ll see whether the leaders will hold me responsible or if they’ll address your misconduct!" Xue Qianhao scolded, dragging Wang Futong by her hair.
He wasn’t scared of her threats. Instead, he felt a sense of recklessness and frustration. Her reality was far from the idealized vision she had of her marriage. She had thought that with her looks and her uncle’s position, her husband would pamper her, but only half a month into the marriage, she was already facing such mistreatment.
