Ruling the Historical Romance Novel as the Female Supporting Character-Chapter 197: Do You Want to Find Your Master?
"Are you hungry? I’ll make some congee for you," Su Yijia said, getting up from the bed. She headed to the bathroom, splashed cold water on her face to calm down, then emerged when completely composed. Not in a rush to assist Qin Kaize, she stooped down and rummaged under the bed. Rising again, the bracelet obtained from the draw was now on her wrist.
"It’s something my master gave me, I only just remembered this morning," Su Yijia noticed his gaze and revealed her new possession while helping him into the wheelchair.
"Look at this bracelet’s floral inlay. It looks solid, but it actually has a hollow space in the center where my master stored silver needles soaked in an anesthetic he prepared. See this button here? If I press it inward, the anesthetic needles will shoot out." She gestured towards the bathroom door, bending her wrist at a ninety-degree angle.
The moment she touched the button, a nearly uniform sequence of ten needles shot out from the front of her wrist with minor intervals. Su Yijia was certain there was a half-second delay between each needle. In other words, the number of needles shot out could be controlled by varying the pressure on the button, which would require precise handling from the user.
Su Yijia pushed Qin Kaize toward the bathroom door, allowing him to inspect the puncture marks made by the needles. Ten needles had completely penetrated the door, leaving only finely spaced holes that were impossible to remove.
"Let’s just leave them there. After all, no one will touch them," Su Yijia said nonchalantly.
Looking down, she noticed a mix of awe and admiration in Qin Kaize’s eyes. "Your master is very skilled and caring towards you."
"Of course, the old man only has me as his disciple. If he didn’t care about me at that time, these skills might have been lost in the future," Su Yijia said, lifting her chin proudly, like a proud peacock. After all, the fabricated character was impossible to locate, making her lies even more seamless.
"Do you want to find your master?" Qin Kaize suddenly asked, feeling grateful to the old man for teaching his wife so well. With the bracelet, her ability to protect herself was greatly enhanced.
"I do, but it’s better to wait until information is more accessible. As long as my master is alive, and I stand tall enough, he will find me," Su Yijia tried to maintain a somewhat serious expression, sighing softly.
Guiding Qin Kaize to the bathroom for washing up, as they left the room, she immediately sensed eyes peering from all around. Holding her breath, she counted; there were a total of twenty-four pairs of eyes.
Alarmed, she leaned out of the corridor’s window, peering into the courtyard where Xia Weiguo was.
The people in the courtyard who heard the commotion also lifted their heads to look at her. Observing her odd expression, they all were startled. However, it was Xia Weiguo who was the first to realize that something was amiss.
With a flicker of surprise in his eyes, he smiled and waved at Su Yijia, signaling her to come downstairs. When she was down, Xia Weiguo came to her and quietly praised, "Our Yijia is very perceptive! But it also shows that our team’s training isn’t sufficient. We must enhance their training upon our return."
It turned out it was their own people who had arrived. Su Yijia breathed a sigh of relief, explaining somewhat shyly, "It might not be their fault. I’ve always had a strong perceptivity."
"There might be others in the world with similarly strong intuitions. We can’t let our guard down," Xia Weiguo said seriously. Observing his unwavering attitude, Su Yijia refrained from further explanations. She silently felt sorry for those people in her heart. Sorry, she didn’t mean to - but those people appeared so suddenly. However, if the criteria for training were based on her ability to detect them, those people would probably never qualify for training, ever.
With everyone gathered, they naturally didn’t linger in the county. After breakfast, the group went to the cooperative to buy vegetables, meat, eggs, rice, and noodles. Once they had made their purchases, they boarded the ox carts and set off towards the village.
Xia Weiguo arranged for four ox carts: the people occupied one, while the other three were filled with their belongings. The distance to the village was only about 40 to 50 kilometers, but the path was more challenging than the one they had taken by minibus. Even though they had ox carts, they still had to walk and push the carts for a significant part of the journey.
The good news was both Su Yijia and Gao Huabin had great power. Even if half a cart was buried in the mud, they could easily lift it with one hand, astonishing the ox cart driver. The way he looked at Su Yijia was somewhat fearful. A man being strong was a good thing, but a woman having such strength might make her future partner miserable. A slight reprimand might result in her picking up people like they were little chicks. The driver wondered if her husband, who was paralyzed, might have been beaten by her.
"Yijia, come over for a moment; I want to discuss something with you," Xia Weiguo gestured to Su Yijia, stepping aside to the roadside.
"Yijia, could you sell me one of those Great Strength Pills?" Xia Weiguo asked, a bit hesitant. Despite Yijia’s intention to gift one to him, he knew these items were made from quite expensive medicinal materials. He couldn’t ask for it for free. If it weren’t for the remoteness of this place, where dangers increased exponentially, he wouldn’t have asked for it.
"Uncle Xia, what are you talking about? Not to mention how good you’ve been to me, just considering your relationship with Kaize, I can’t take your money," Su Yijia replied, frowning. She refused Xia Weiguo’s attempt to pay, and from her bag, she took out a soy sauce bottle containing the Great Strength Pills.
"Then that won’t do. Your Great Strength Pills are too precious, and making them also costs a lot," Xia Weiguo firmly refused.
"You’ve spent so much on us; how could I take money from you? This batch of pills I made were intended for personal use and to share with the people close to me. If you insist on paying, then from now on, you can’t spend money on me either," Su Yijia tightly gripped the bottle in her hand, looking straight at Xia Weiguo.
"Okay, I won’t pay; I’ll just eat it. But let’s make a deal: If I take your Great Strength Pill this time, in the future, whatever I give you, you can’t refuse," Xia Weiguo joked with a smile.
"Then won’t I profit a lot?" Su Yijia laughed along.
Xia Weiguo poured out a pill from the soy sauce bottle, took it, and then returned the bottle to her. He didn’t intend to give it to anyone else. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Even though they could benefit from taking the pills and better complete their current mission, the pills were not his to decide. Moreover, such a precious and powerful substance couldn’t be shared even with those he trusted, as there was no guarantee they wouldn’t let the information slip in a moment of enthusiasm to help their team grow stronger.
