Chapter 176: Su Xinyue with No Way Out

"It’s okay. As long as this person doesn’t intervene and stop Su Xinyue and Qin Mingcheng getting the marriage certificate tomorrow morning will be fine," Su Yijia tucked the leaf into her pocket.

Once she left, Gao Huabin swiftly finished the dumplings, drank half of the bottle of milk, and immediately climbed back up the tree to continue keeping an eye on the situation at the Qin family’s residence.

The entire night passed, and Xia Weiguo did not return. Su Yijia and her grandparents were somewhat worried, but Qin Kaize explained that Zhu Zirui and the two security guards were with Xia Weiguo. He reassured them that it was probably due to the investigation, which offered them some relief. However, by the next day, when Su Yijia took him out, Xia Weiguo had still not returned.

She realized something significant must have been discovered. Though she was eager to know the outcome, she knew she had to monitor Su Xinyue and Qin Mingcheng’s efforts to get their marriage certificate first.

When they arrived outside the Qin family’s residence, some neighbors immediately approached Su Yijia with a mysterious air.

"Su, what happened between your sister and your little-brother-in-law last night? We heard your sister screaming for most of the night. That really scared us. You should talk to your little brother. The pregnant woman’s body is weak. If they want to quarrel, they should wait until your sister gives birth to the baby. Otherwise, the Qin family might really become barren," a neighbor warned, both alarmed and concerned.

Su Yijia didn’t need to guess; they must have fought again. And, once again, it was Su Xinyue who had been assaulted.

"Alright, I’ll talk to them. But both of them have strong opinions, so they might not listen to me," Su Yijia responded with a hint of embarrassment.

However, it was clear she wasn’t particularly interested in intervening, and there was no need to press further on the matter. They couldn’t help but feel a sense of regret, acknowledging that the Qin family had completely fallen apart.

Although everyone knew the three members of the Qin family weren’t exactly good people, they were more inclined to believe that the core issue was Su Yijia’s extreme temperament. They thought she had the capacity to control the people in the Qin family and saw no reason to push things to a disastrous level.

Inwardly, they wished to express their concern, but none of them dared to educate Su Yijia, afraid the matter might redirect onto themselves.

"Alright, alright... Thanks for taking care of the issue. We have to go to work and school the next day. The noise at night disrupts our sleep. We don’t mean anything else," the neighbor, who had been speaking, explained awkwardly with a nervous laugh.

Observing their fear, Su Yijia didn’t pay it much mind. She nodded casually and pushed the door to enter the yard.

The gates, usually sturdier than those of other households, now appeared desolate and lonely. Su Xinyue and Qin Mingcheng had already packed up, sitting at opposite ends of the yard, ignoring each other. Yet, while Qin Mingcheng seemed content, Su Xinyue appeared visibly worn out.

When Su Yijia arrived, there was a hint of resentment in Su Xinyue’s eyes. However, it was short-lived and quickly returned to a calm state, as if she had accepted her fate.

"Let’s go, stop dragging your feet," Su Yijia impatiently urged them.

Only then did Qin Mingcheng and Su Xinyue get up and followed her to the car.

At the marriage registration office, Su Yijia handed a bag of candies to Su Xinyue and helped adjust her clothes. She observed the visible bruises on Su Xinyue’s skin, apparently the result of pinching and hitting, but Yijia didn’t hide her smile

Su Xinyue clenched her teeth in utter hatred, barely containing her explosion.

"As someone else’s wife now, you should act more compliant. Don’t be willful anymore. And don’t think of other things. If you cause a scene in front of those people later, I’ll have you sent to the police station for hooliganism. Although both of you won’t be executed, you could easily face a sentence of ten or even twenty years. You have many suitors and talent, but relying on him to rescue you—don’t bet on it. I’d rather have him put in jail alongside you when he starts his action."

Yijia’s face wore an elegant smile, but it appeared sinister to Su Xinyue. Her words were like venomous fangs, wrapping around her neck, making it difficult to breathe. The scorching sun intensified the chilling effect as beads of cold sweat formed on her back.

"You are not! You are absolutely not human!" Su Xinyue took two steps back, her voice a mix of shock and fury.

"Su Yijia, that foolish person, was toyed with for twenty years, never figuring out anything. Even if provoked repeatedly, intelligence doesn’t just appear out of nowhere."

"You might consider a different perspective. Perhaps I knew everything for these twenty years, just repeatedly giving you all chances. Your manipulation of my marriage finally broke the camel’s back. You all are now under my control only because I will no longer indulge you," Su Yijia tilted her head, her gaze icy as she raised an eyebrow towards her.

Su Xinyue didn’t believe a word of what Su Yijia was saying, but she couldn’t find any grounds for rebuttal. Moreover, not just Qin Mingcheng, even Qin Kaize and Gao Huabin wouldn’t believe her. She wanted to protest, as if struggling, but eventually resigned, hanging her head in defeat. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

"Have you had enough of making a scene? Then get in there and get the marriage certificate," Qin Mingcheng extended his hand, gripping Su Xinyue and dragging her inside.

"Be careful. Staff might think you’re forcing her to marry you with this behavior," Su Yijia cautioned from behind, anxious.

Su Xinyue, her elation crushed, plummeted into the abyss. She felt Su Yijia was too terrifying, sealing off all her opportunities.

Would she truly have any chance to escape from Su Yijia’s subsequent scheming? Su Xinyue was deeply doubtful.

They came out within half an hour. Qin Mingcheng was excited, as if he’d received a passport to freedom. However, Su Xinyue seemed like she’d received a death notice, utterly dejected, drained of all spirit and energy.

"Sister-in-law, take a look. This is my marriage certificate with Su Xinyue," Qin Mingcheng tried to please Su Yijia, handing her the thin piece of paper.

That address disgusted Su Yijia. She felt she might not be able to stomach being called "sister-in-law" in the future. Nonetheless, she forced herself to overcome the revulsion and carefully examined the marriage certificate. After confirming there were no issues, she returned it to Qin Mingcheng.

"Alright, you two can go back now," Su Yijia said disdainfully, gesturing for them to leave promptly. However, Qin Mingcheng was looking at her with hopeful anticipation, making her feel uncomfortable.

"Sister-in-law, we’re having a banquet tomorrow. Is there something you’d like to eat? My wife and I will buy it and she will cook it for you."

"No need. I’m afraid she might poison me," Su Yijia rejected with a shiver, baring her teeth in discomfort.
