Ruin Me, Alpha-Chapter 26: Devoured by Obsession
I pushed the bedroom door open with my shoulder, still dripping from the shower, wearing nothing but his black shirt that hung to mid-thigh. The scent of soap clung to my skin, but it couldn’t wash away the blood I’d seen downstairs or the rage still burning in my chest.
Devon stood at the window, moonlight cutting across his back. Black tank top stretched tight over muscle, grey sweatpants slung low, hands buried in his pockets. He didn’t turn.
My voice came out low, cracked. "Why did you kill him?"
He stared out at the dark forest. "People die on battlefields, Irene."
"He wasn’t just people. You hunted Baron. You went for him on purpose."
Only then did he turn. Those grey eyes pinned me in place, cool and unreadable. "That day I killed three thousand men. Baron wasn’t special."
I stepped closer, fists clenched. "He was to me, you bastard."
The word vile slipped out before I didn’t even feel it leave my tongue.
In two strides he closed the distance. His hands rose, cupped my cheeks so gently it hurt. I didn’t fight. I knew it was pointless.
He drew my head to his chest, arms folding around me like iron bands wrapped in silk. And fuck me, I hugged him back. My arms slid around his waist, fingers digging into the hard planes of his back. I buried my face against him, breathing in cedar and citrus and the faint metallic trace that was always there now.
How did this even make sense? Finding comfort in the same man who’d ripped my heart out and fed it to me?
We pulled apart an inch. My hands stayed locked around his waist. His stayed cradling my skull like I was something precious and breakable.
"I will never stop loving you," he said against my temple, voice rough. "I will chase you through every lifetime if that’s what it takes. I don’t care if it’s the last thing I do."
I nodded once, throat too tight for words.
He leaned in. I met him halfway. The kiss was slow at first, then hungry, teeth clashing, tongues sliding, moans spilling into the quiet room. Wet, filthy sounds that made my body answered with a rush of heat.
He bent, scooped me up bridal style like I weighed nothing, and carried me to the bed. Laid me down, climbed in behind me, dragging my back flush to his chest. My ass met the hard ridge of his cock through the thin sweatpants. I ground back on instinct.
He growled, hand clamping on my hip. "Don’t start what you can’t finish, little wolf."
I did it again, slower, deliberate.
His grip tightened, holding me still. "Irene."
We stayed like that, me naked under his shirt, him wrapped around me like he expected me to vanish if he loosened his hold even a fraction. His mouth brushed the shell of my ear.
"If you ever leave me for another man," he whispered, lips grazing my throat, "every wolf in this pack, every wolf in the whole damn region, will be dead by morning."
My pulse spiked. "How?"
"You planning a genocide because I might kiss someone else?"
"You leave me by dusk," he said, voice velvet and venom, "there’s a mass burial by dawn."
The words should have terrified me. Instead heat flooded my core.
I turned my face into the pillow, then the words tumbled out anyway. "I’ll never leave you for anyone, Devon."
He exhaled like I’d handed him the world. "Thank you." A kiss pressed to the corner of my mouth. "Thank you so much."
A heartbeat later I asked, "What are you going to do with the bodies downstairs?"
He pecked my lips again, lazy, possessive. "Watch."
I rolled to my back. His heavy thigh slid between mine, pinning me. I stared up at him. Moonlight carved his face into something cruel and beautiful.
"What?" he murmured, smiling that slow, heavenly smile that made my stomach flip.
"You’re beautiful," I said before I could stop myself.
He laughed once, low. "Can’t believe the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen just said that to me."
He leaned down, erection pressing into my thigh through the fabric, and kissed me again. This time I didn’t kiss back. I pushed him to his back, climbed astride his hips, and peeled his shirt off my body in one motion.
His eyes went feral.
Naked, I took his rough hand and brought it to my breast. "Do you like us beautiful the same way you liked Andrea?"
He squeezed, thumb rolling my nipple until I gasped. "I don’t like Andrea."
I started rocking, slick folds dragging over the hard line in his sweats. "Ever loved anyone but me?"
He hesitated one heartbeat. "Yes."
I ground down harder. "Should I kill her? That seems to be what you do to anyone I’m romantically involved with."
His hips jerked up. "Won’t be necessary. She’s already dead."
I stilled. Then kept moving, reaching for the hem of his tank top. I dragged it up and off, palms sliding over warm muscle and crisp hair. He sighed, eyes half-mast.
"She was killed," he said.
I leaned down, tongue tracing the ridge of his pec, down the groove between abs, circling one flat nipple. "What did you do to the people who took her from you?" I whispered against his skin. "Did you teach them the same lesson you teach everyone who touches me?"
"Why?"
"Because it turns me on."
His cock twitched hard beneath me. "I haven’t gotten my full revenge yet."
I lifted my head. "That doesn’t sound like you. You always finish what you start."
I slid lower, hand slipping beneath the waistband of his sweats. My fingers closed around hot, thick velvet over steel. I stroked once, twice, then faster. His head fell back, groan rumbling from his chest. I worked him ruthless until his hips stuttered and he spilled over my fist and his stomach, soaking the grey fabric.
I rose up on my knees, shoved the sweats down just enough, and straddled his face.
"Open."
His smirk was pure sin. Mouth opened eagerly. I sank down, guiding myself between his lips. He swallowed every drop of my first climax like he was starving for it. Then his tongue speared inside me, fucking deep, teeth grazing my clit, sucking until my thighs shook and I screamed into the second orgasm.
This one he let spill over his chin.
I dropped forward, tongue darting out to lick my own release from his jaw, his lips, sharing the taste in a messy, open-mouthed kiss.
We were both trembling.
And still, it wasn’t nearly enough.
