Rotting Land: Survive-Chapter 430 - 428: Reunion (6)
After breaking through, Wei Dazhuang stopped the car again after reaching a safe distance.
Taking advantage of the break, Hu Xiaodong and Lin Junfu, who were hanging onto the roof of the car, also climbed inside.
The group reunited once more, feeling a mix of emotions, but given the current road conditions, they refrained from talking and set off on their journey.
"Dazhuang, open the back door. Come on, Xiao Hu, Acheng, let’s throw these corpses out!"
Considering the smell inside the vehicle and its impact on the women and children, Lin Junfu felt it was better to dispose of the dead bodies.
Hu Xiaodong and Acheng had no objections and immediately got to work.
"Hey~ Uncle Lin, where do we find Brother Qiang and them?" Acheng asked about the team’s next steps while dragging the corpses.
This question was something Lin Junfu hadn’t specifically considered. After all, his mind had been focused on escaping, so at the moment...
He struggled to roll the beasts off the car from the door, wiped sweat from his forehead with his arm, and then turned to Wei Dazhuang asking, "Dazhuang, what do you think?"
As the only person in the team who had contact with the logistics team, Lin Junfu placed his last hope on Wei Dazhuang.
"I have an idea, but I’m not sure if it will work!" He truthfully relayed what Dai Sha had said about the whereabouts of the second team when they returned from the granary.
This was the first time Lin Junfu and the others heard about this. After listening to Wei Dazhuang’s story, the survivors expressed their anger towards Sang Biao’s misdeeds.
"So you’re saying the second team members are all trapped in Bieyuan District?" Lin Junfu repeated it without further comment.
Wei Dazhuang replied as usual, "I don’t know! That’s just what that bastard Dai Sha said! It might even be a ruse, who knows."
Hu Xiaodong rubbed his chin thoughtfully, "Either way, let’s head to Bieyuan District first. If the second team is really there, Xu Renjie would definitely go there with his temperament."
Despite his words, Hu Xiaodong was not very optimistic.
It had been over half a month since the incident occurred, and even if Xu Renjie intended to investigate, there was no reason for him to stay in a location provided by Dai Sha.
So the chances of finding anything this trip were very slim.
But still, they had no other better ideas at the moment.
Lin Junfu and Hu Xiaodong shared the same thought, but there was a more pressing issue: "Does anyone know where Bieyuan District is?"
At this question, everyone exchanged looks.
The survivors weren’t locals, so they couldn’t possibly know Bieyuan District’s exact location.
And He Jing, the only one in the car who might provide a concrete clue, remained like a wooden doll, staring blankly into space.
Having no other choice, Wei Yang patted Fangfang’s head and gently asked, "Fangfang, have your mom or dad ever mentioned Bieyuan District that Uncle Lin mentioned?"
Fangfang blinked her big eyes and seriously thought about it, but she was only six years old and couldn’t remember such an obscure place.
So, unfortunately, Wei Yang’s question led to nothing.
"Well, I don’t know the exact place, but from Dai Sha’s tone back then, Bieyuan District should not be far from the stadium! I think we shouldn’t waste time talking here, let’s just circle around the stadium a few times, see if we can stumble upon it!"
Wei Dazhuang, who typically disliked idle talk, straightforwardly suggested his idea.
In response to the man’s straightforward words, Lin Junfu agreed, "Yes, Dazhuang is right. We really don’t have the time for chit-chat! Let’s wander around the stadium a bit, and if we can’t find it, we’ll figure out something else."
Once the plan was made, everyone found a place to sit down.
After all, the closer they got to the stadium, the higher the risk for the survivors.
No one could guarantee that Dai Sha’s group hadn’t sent patrols looking around.
And if they were encountered by them, it would truly be a case of "losing the bait along with the fish."
Wei Dazhuang drove the bus carefully; honestly, maneuvering this metal hulk was a huge test of his patience.
Especially with every turn, he had to make every effort to prevent the vehicle from scraping against anything.
With Wei Dazhuang’s not-so-skillful control, the group of survivors began their wanderings around the stadium.
Tang Xiaoquan was alone, leaning on the balcony of the rooftop as a lookout. The gentle northern wind brushed his forehead, causing his bangs to flutter.
Looking at the dome structure emerging between buildings in the distance, Tang Xiaoquan felt a bit excited.
To him, tomorrow was going to be a very pivotal day because as soon as Wei Dazhuang confirmed the condition of the drainage, the real rescue operation would commence.
And for the arrival of this day, Tang Xiaoquan had truly waited a long time.
These days, he worried and racked his brain for the sake of his comrades and Wei Yang.
But no matter what, his efforts and struggles were about to be rewarded.
He could hardly wait to enter the stadium and reunite with the woman he longed for day and night.
Tightly clutching the jade pendant against his chest, Tang Xiaoquan took a deep breath.
As he exhaled heavily, a somewhat jarring engine roar reached his ears.
Almost instinctively he straightened up, then leaned forward to carefully scan the surrounding streets.
Soon, he spotted a black shadow appearing at the corner’s edge.
A moment later, the red body of a bus slowly came into view.
Damn it! As these words flashed through his mind, Tang Xiaoquan immediately sent a warning signal into the house.
Upon hearing his warning, the remaining survivors quickly went into combat mode.
Lei Tong was the first to draw the Type 92 pistol that Xu Renjie had taught him to use, and sprinted up to the balcony.
"What’s the situation? Where’s the enemy?"
Concise and straightforward, Lei Tong quickly threw out two key questions.
Tang Xiaoquan didn’t waste words, pointed quickly through the balcony railing gaps, and answered, "Over there, at the 11 o’clock direction, red bus, see it?"
Following Tang Xiaoquan’s pointing, Lei Tong easily locked onto the target.
With such a vehicle, there must be quite a number of people inside.
Lei Tong subconsciously tightened his grip on the Type 92; he could already predict that if a fight broke out, their chances of victory weren’t looking too good.
But when enemies meet on a narrow path, the brave one wins.
In the dictionary of the Sharp Blade Company, there was no such word as fear!
"Alright! Xiao Tang, keep watching here, I’ll head down to guard. Let’s stick to the plan, don’t expose the target casually, and focus on capturing more firearms!" (To be continued.
