Rose Manor: Tycoon's Relentless Chase-Chapter 386 - 359: Radiant and Brilliant (End of Main Story)
In the luxuriously lit suite, as Shen Jianian was just set down, she noticed the large white bed not far away was covered with fresh, dewy rose petals. At the foot of the bed, swans made of white towels embraced each other with intertwined necks, their wings spread wide, with their necks forming the shape of a heart.
Shen Jianian’s heart suddenly began to race. When she turned around, she saw Fu Jichen, who had locked the suite door, coming back to her.
The moment their eyes met, it felt as if ambiguous sparks were flying in the air, her ears echoed with the words he had just said in the hallway: Tired, are we? So... what about tonight, for the wedding night?
Shen Jianian’s face grew warm, and she was the first to look away.
Fu Jichen casually undid the cufflinks of his shirt: "Do you want to shower first, or should I go first?"
Before Shen Jianian could answer, Fu Jichen’s gaze deepened as he looked at her, slowly approaching while whispering: "Or, maybe we could shower together, that’s also fine." He quickly added under the guise of reasoning, "To save time."
It proved that showering together did not, in fact, save time.
With her hand pressed against the foggy tile wall, clear imprints of her five fingers appeared. Shen Jianian turned her head back to kiss the person who brought her both joy and torment.
The kiss was incredibly long and under the steamy heat, it brought a feeling of near suffocation.
This sense of suffocation wasn’t uncomfortable but rather an ultimate pleasure.
When her body finally made contact with the soft mattress, Shen Jianian was already drowsy, unaware of the time.
The rose petals on the bed scattered onto the floor, the rich fragrance lingered around her nose, and the faint sound of pattering water came to her ears, making her vaguely think she was still in the bathroom. She brushed her hand against the fluffy duvet, indicating she was indeed on the bed.
"What’s that sound?" Shen Jianian asked without opening her eyes, her lips moving slightly to question the man beside her.
The room was so quiet that even though her voice was as light as a mosquito, Fu Jichen heard it clearly. He leaned down and whispered in her ear: "What are you referring to?"
"The sound of water." Shen Jianian, lacking strength, spoke in short phrases.
Fu Jichen understood at once and told her: "It’s raining outside, what you’re hearing is the sound of rain."
Shen Jianian didn’t know what struck her, but a faint smile appeared on her lips.
Seeing her smile with her eyes closed, Fu Jichen grew curious: "Does rain make you happy?"
"No." Shen Jianian was extremely drained, her mind in a haze, unable to gather her thoughts, she answered Fu Jichen’s question purely on instinct, "I just think we’re really lucky. If we had had the wedding a day later and it rained, what would we have done?"
An outdoor garden wedding, interrupted by a sudden downpour, would indeed be unimaginable, undeniably chaotic, not nearly as beautiful as it was today.
There’s a lyric that goes, love is an unchanging superstition of timing and location. She found herself believing in those words now, acknowledging that both love and weddings were contingent on timing and location.
Fu Jichen, however, wasn’t convinced: "Even if it rained, I would have made sure our wedding went off perfectly." Clearly, to him, human will triumphs over fate.
Shen Jianian showed some interest, trying to muster the faintest hint of consciousness through her exhaustion, and asked him: "So tell me, if it rained, what would you do? Could you stop the rain?"
Fu Jichen took less than five seconds to respond: "I would build a glass house and enclose the entire wedding venue in it, allowing everyone to feel the ambiance of a garden wedding without getting wet while also enjoying the sight of the rain."
Shen Jianian imagined being enclosed in a giant glass structure, surrounded by flowers, with clear raindrops falling on the transparent glass roof—it seemed to have its own unique charm.
She was convinced, utterly speechless.
After waiting for a while without a response, Fu Jichen looked down again, only to find the person beside him breathing steadily as if asleep. He tried calling softly: "Shen Jianian?"
"...Hmm?"
The faint reply made Fu Jichen chuckle softly to himself, realizing she wasn’t actually asleep.
Fu Jichen leaned down to kiss her lips and asked: "Do you want some water?" Earlier in the bathroom, she had been complaining she was so thirsty she could drink the shower water.
Shen Jianian mumbled a soft "Hmm," even quieter than before. Fu Jichen wasn’t sure whether it meant she wanted water or she was just instinctively responding to him without fully hearing what he said.
Fu Jichen smiled, got out of bed, fetched a glass of water, and gently lifted her neck with one hand, bringing the rim of the glass to her lips, reminding her: "Slowly, careful not to choke."
Shen Jianian didn’t open her eyes the entire time and drank half a cup of water before her head tilted, fully losing consciousness as she was pulled into her dreams.
