Rose Manor: Tycoon's Relentless Chase-Chapter 351 - 330: Custom Wedding Rings
Fu Jichen left Lan Gui Court and returned to Yunding Palace.
The people responsible for helping Shen Jianian move had already brought over her belongings. There was no need for her to organize them; professionals had arranged everything by category neatly.
Cheng Jin was very happy that Shen Jianian could move in. That evening, he helped the chef prepare a lavish meal, saying it was a celebration.
Just as the dishes were served, the sound of a car engine stopping came from the yard; it was Fu Jichen returning. Shen Jianian met him, took his suit, and hung it on the floor-standing coat rack: "How did it go? Did Shuyao say anything?"
She had arranged to meet Yin Shuyao tonight, but Fu Jichen told her not to go, saying that her cousin had bad intentions, was cunning, and had done a lot of things to kick her when she was down in the past.
Shen Jianian had no recollection of what Fu Jichen mentioned, but there was no reason for him to deceive her, so she chose to believe him unconditionally.
Tonight, it was Fu Jichen who went to meet Yin Shuyao on her behalf.
"Not much," Fu Jichen said, holding Shen Jianian’s hand and walking toward the dining room, his steps steady and slow, summarizing in one sentence, "She’s now doing business with her parents, probably encountering some difficulties. She saw your news online, and contacted you to try and benefit from your success."
Fu Jichen pulled out a chair for her to sit down and then sat opposite her.
Shen Jianian had a thoughtful expression. Indeed, yesterday, when Yin Shuyao called her, her tone was a bit strange. At first, she was cautious, as if afraid Shen Jianian wouldn’t pay attention to her. Later, when she found out Shen Jianian couldn’t remember the past, her attitude became particularly enthusiastic.
"In my memory, my uncle’s family owned a company and were prominent figures in Yicheng. Why would they come to Beicheng for business?" Shen Jianian’s memory still lingered before her parents passed away; the Yin family’s economic situation was quite good. They couldn’t be compared to those wealthy clans, but they were definitely considered wealthy.
Fu Jichen served her a bowl of soup: "Your cousin married into the Qin Family, a powerful local family in Yicheng. The Yin Family’s company was acquired by the Qin Family. With her marriage falling apart, the Yin Family no longer exists."
Shen Jianian was extremely surprised: "How could this happen?"
"Let’s not talk about other people’s affairs," Fu Jichen said. "Just remember not to associate with that family. They schemed against you in the past."
There were some nasty things he didn’t want to mention to sully her ears, unnecessarily adding to her troubles.
Shen Jianian drank the soup, remembering: "Oh."
It’s somewhat regrettable to say, her uncle’s family indeed were some of her few relatives in this world.
Fu Jichen didn’t let her fall into a low mood and quickly changed the subject: "Do you have any plans for the weekend?"
"No," Shen Jianian said, raising her head, "but next week I need to go to the symphony orchestra."
"Can I take you to see a doctor?" Fu Jichen didn’t use a commanding tone but discussed it with her.
Shen Jianian lowered her eyelashes. Fu Jichen mentioned this to her yesterday, so she was mentally prepared, but she still felt some resistance.
She knew her body well. The aftereffects of that car accident ran deep in her bones. She seemed normal most of the time, but having survived that close call, how could she be truly normal?
"You don’t have to go if you don’t want to. Let Aunt Cheng supplement your nutrition..." Seeing Shen Jianian’s resistance, Fu Jichen didn’t try to persuade her, his tone was natural, respectful of her decision. But before he finished speaking, Shen Jianian looked up as if she had made up her mind, with a determined look in her eyes: "It’s good to have a check-up."
Before, in Jiang City, if she felt any discomfort, she would hide it from Pei Che and Zhou Ruo and visit the doctor by herself. She wasn’t someone who avoided medical treatment.
She just felt a bit awkward about exposing her physical problems to those closest to her.
At this moment, she probably understood why Fu Jichen never told her about how he became disabled.

Fu Jichen cleared his weekend schedule and took Shen Jianian to see a doctor he had made an appointment with in advance for a comprehensive physical examination.
The doctor had ties with the Fu Family, so he was particularly attentive to Shen Jianian. However, his appearance was quite stern. When looking at the medical report, he had a serious expression, making Shen Jianian anxious, unable to stop watching the doctor’s mouth for fear he would announce something bad in the next second.
As Shen Jianian’s husband, Fu Jichen accompanied her, steadily watching the doctor in his sixties, politely addressing him as "Uncle Fang," as he asked, "How is it?"
Upon hearing this polite yet slightly tense "Uncle Fang," the man reviewing the report lifted his head, eyeing Fu Jichen’s extraordinarily handsome face.
Having known him for some years now, Doctor Fang had never seen this nephew-in-law look like this.
"The medical report shows nothing concerning," Doctor Fang said.
Shen Jianian secretly breathed a sigh of relief, relaxing her tightly clutching fingers as her heart settled. Yet Fu Jichen didn’t drop his guard, mentioning some of Shen Jianian’s conditions to the doctor.
The doctor suggested prescribing a regimen for her to follow, especially during spring and summer; waiting until autumn or winter would be too late.
After leaving the office, walking down the corridor, turning the corner towards the elevator, Shen Jianian excused herself to the restroom, telling Fu Jichen to wait there while she retraced her steps.
She didn’t go to the washroom but returned to Doctor Fang’s office.
Doctor Fang was writing something with his head down. Hearing a knock at the door, he looked up to see Shen Jianian, who had left and then returned, poking half of her body inside. Doctor Fang put down his pen and asked her what other questions she had.
After hesitating for a moment, Shen Jianian opened her mouth to ask the doctor if her body was suitable for childbirth.
Doctor Fang was stunned for a second, then a gentle smile spread across his dignified square face. Shen Jianian blushed under his gaze; she didn’t dare to ask earlier when Fu Jichen was there.
Doctor Fang spoke in a warm voice, and his words reassured her: "It won’t be an issue."
After a pause, for safety’s sake, he added, "But I would still recommend a specific examination before deciding to have a child."
"Okay, thank you, Doctor Fang." Shen Jianian felt much relieved.
Doctor Fang smiled, "Just like Jichen, you can call me Uncle Fang."
Shen Jianian readily called him "Uncle Fang," and as she backed out, she said, "I’ll leave you to your work then."
She left the office, closed the door, and quickened her pace towards the elevator. Just as she rounded the corner, she saw Fu Jichen waiting there, his tall figure particularly striking. He glanced sideways at her, noticed her flushed cheeks, and asked, "Is it hot?"
Shen Jianian touched her cheek with the back of her hand, feeling the warmth, indeed a bit hot: "A little."
Fu Jichen smiled, asked no more, and ushered her into the elevator to the parking area.
This time they didn’t let Qu Mo drive; Fu Jichen handled the wheel himself. Shen Jianian sat in the passenger seat, and after they drove for a while, she noticed the direction was off.
"Aren’t we going home?" She turned to look at the driver.
Fu Jichen rested both hands on the steering wheel, easily changed direction, and drove onto another road: "It’s rare to come out, let’s relax a bit before going back."
People tend to feel gloomy coming out of the hospital, a change of scenery can lift the mood greatly.
Shen Jianian had no objections. It wasn’t until the streets outside the car window grew livelier that she began to feel curious. She thought a place to relax would be a park or an amusement park, but it seemed Fu Jichen had a different idea.
However, she thought it made sense; Fu Jichen probably wasn’t interested in places like parks or amusement parks.
The car eventually parked in a designated spot in front of a jewelry store. A valet quickly came up to help open the car door.
Once inside the store, Shen Jianian remembered to ask Fu Jichen, "What do you want to buy?"
Fu Jichen’s gaze roamed over the sparkling counters and said, "You mentioned last time that the diamond ring on your hand isn’t convenient for everyday wear, let’s pick a new pair."
Shen Jianian followed him to look at the rings in the showcase. The sales associate in uniform spotted them, her eyes gleaming, and smiled as she approached to serve them: "Are you two here to look at wedding rings?"
Shen Jianian raised her eyelids, "Mhm," and then shook Fu Jichen’s hand playfully: "Only buying for me? You’re not going to wear one?"
Fu Jichen slightly bowed his head, his lips curled up: "Didn’t I say, we are picking a pair? Mrs. Fu, your comprehension skills are lacking."
Shen Jianian: "..."
The sales associate walking with them couldn’t help but suppress a laugh while turning her face away after hearing their conversation.
Noticing the smile the sales associate couldn’t hold back at the corners of her lips, Shen Jianian slightly lowered her eyes, leaned closer to Fu Jichen, and said in a voice only audible to the two of them: "Your surname is not very good."
Fu Jichen was hearing someone say this for the first time, arching a brow at the person speaking: "What’s wrong with it?"
"Mrs. Fu sounds like a rich lady, it’s tacky." Shen Jianian had her own reasoning.
Fu Jichen, for a moment, couldn’t find the words to refute her, chuckled silently, and turned to the sales associate nearby: "Do you have any unique designs?"
The sales associate promptly replied, "Yes. We have an exclusive collection series; all the wedding rings in this series are unique, custom-made according to the customer’s size."
Fu Jichen nodded, gesturing to indicate his interest. The sales associate, somewhat excited, quickly brought out the collection for them to choose from.
Shen Jianian took the lead and chose a pair of rings with a simple, elegant design. The sales associate measured their ring finger sizes, stating that the rings would arrive in half a month.
When it came time to pay, Shen Jianian quickly said, "Let me."
She pulled a card out from her purse, placed it on the counter for the cashier to swipe, and pushed the card Fu Jichen had taken out back into his wallet.
The cashier looked to Fu Jichen with a questioning gaze, and he curved his lips into a smile: "As she wishes."
The lady wants to give him a gift, he had no reason to refuse.
Shen Jianian’s card-swiping posture was quite dashing. After doing it, when she saw the receipt slip out of the machine, she felt a bit of a twinge—her salary from a movie was gone.
The payment from Wang Kelun’s movie had just been deposited into her account the day before yesterday, and it was gone in a blink, not even enough time to warm it in her hands.
