Rogue Villain-Chapter 390: Fix
The elven continent of Arboria. The continent of Tenger. The Land of Dragons. Myrrhia. The Central Isles of Matar. The Vider Empire. The Vampire Nest. Bo’s Island. New Vieva.
Ackster’s voice reached all of those places—places where he or his party members had the connections necessary to bring the Creator’s plan to fruition.
Willow, the Spokesperson of Eternity. The Guild’s connections all over Tenger. Mara and Kargas’ acquaintances and family in the Land of Dragons. Tetraxia in Myrrhia. The Storm ruling family of Matar. The criminal underworld of Vider, who looked up to Makkel, the man who set the imperial family on fire. Shanshi’s kin of the Vampire Nest. Bo. Karandiel’s believers in New Vieva.
During the last two years, all of those places, all of those people, had been hard at work laying out the foundations for the Creator’s masterpiece, their magnum opus. They built and dug structures that, from up close, only looked strange.
But from far away, it became obvious that they were magic circles. Magic circles no one could understand and of unprecedented size. They spanned the entire world in a web of intricate magic.
Even Mara, the foremost mage in Ackster’s party, could barely understand more than a fraction of what each part of the magic circles did. But she could confirm the Creator’s intentions. So, Ackster wasn’t worried about falling for a trap the Creator had made.
When Ackster’s command came, the people who had been waiting anxiously or in boredom got to work. They poured fresh monster blood and corpses into the magic circles. Fortunately, The Calamity had made sure that there was more than enough to go around for the incredible, artistic constructs that, in some places where there weren’t a lot of people, were larger than cities.
Ackster clutched the Alchemaze’s central command token.
The magic circles alone weren’t enough for what the Creator had in mind. The Alchemaze was the foundation, the magic circles that outer layer. But the core of the plan was the current state of the world.
The world’s world power was in disarray. It was unstable. It was something even the Creator had been unable to accomplish on his own, at least to a degree that would make his plan viable. He had been forced to leave it to a fated descendant. Only when the stars aligned and fate intertwined would the Creator’s plan take effect.
Now, that time had come.
A disaster great enough to upset the balance of the world itself had struck. The world power teeming throughout the world was unstable enough—faulty enough—for the Creator’s magic and Alchemaze to rectify what was wrong with the world.
The magic littered all throughout the Alchemaze seeped out of the Alchemaze and into the magic circles. It started extracting the mana and existential power from the monster blood. The blood started glowing with a red light as it powered the magic circles.
Ackster closed his eyes as he felt the entire world press down on him. Through the central command token, he bore the burden of activating the magic circles and shifting the world power to reinforce Millmeria’s defenses.
It was time to fix a breach in Millmeria’s security that had, through the ages, brought about unimaginable suffering and death. It was time to end the Calamitous Cycles.
Ackster followed the instructions in the Creator’s notes that he had memorized and reread countless times. He guided the world power and the existential power through the magic circles and the Alchemaze.
He sensed the world’s barrier against foreign invaders and threats. It was the barrier that protected Millmeria’s inhabitants against all kinds of threats from the universe that most people of Millmeria didn’t even know existed.
For a long time now, an unimaginably long time, that barrier had occasionally revealed a hole. It was only big enough for a weak being to enter the world. But a weak being from another world or the universe could still be enough to overturn the peaceful Millmeria and raze the world to the ground before seizing all the world had to offer for itself or its own civilization.
After all, Millmeria was a rich world with bountiful resources, mana, existential power, and world power. It was a treasure for anyone who knew how to harvest it.
Due to the continuous Calamitous Cycles, the world had never had the opportunity to develop any powerful civilizations that could defend against such existences. There was one being who somewhat kept the world safe. But that being, the Sword God, also threatened Millmeria’s continued existence.
There was also the fact that, despite being so powerful, the Sword God was but one person. He could only do so much against foreign invaders.
Ackster weaved the power of the world together with the existential power of monsters to create a band-aid. He put that band-aid over the breach in Millmeria’s defenses.
As the name implied, it wasn’t a permanent solution. But hopefully, it would last long enough for Millmeria to fix the wound before the band-aid fell off or for a civilization to develop far enough to defend against whatever may threaten Millmeria.
Ackster panted heavily as he made contact with Millmeria’s barrier. He connected with it. It put a strain on his mind that Clear Mind couldn’t handle.
Limit Breaker was already running on its last fumes.
But if he didn’t do this now, the breach would shift away, and the world power would eventually stabilize and become impossible to manipulate as he was doing right now.
Ackster bore the brunt of touching the world with his mind and pushed through the burden. There was no option where he didn’t do this. There was no future where he hadn’t done this.
With his mind blank from the pressure that was too much for any mortal to bear, Ackster put on the band-aid and made sure it stuck tight to the world’s barrier. No Calamity would be able to tear it off before entry.
Ackster was too tired to think of what-ifs. But he didn’t see a reason or a possibility where any other being would do so, either. If they could tear off the band-aid, they could tear through the world’s barrier.
Ackster breathed out a heavy sigh of relief as he smoothened the world barrier and the world power all around Millmeria.
He was done.
’Phew. That was close.’
<Oh, what’s this now?>
