Rogue Villain-Chapter 289: Hot
The Smelting Furnace had already reached its limit in the face of the blue sun’s domineering and seemingly endless power. Without Limit Breaker, since the soul shard symbolizing the skill had lost its shine, the Smelting Furnace didn’t have any way to resist the blue sun long enough for the liquid Stone of Wisdom to finish what it was doing.
It looked like the liquid Stone of Wisdom was reusing the broken pieces of Ackster’s soul to reshape it with itself as the magic glue and patching over the holes from the missing pieces.
But that was no simple task, even for something as mysterious as the Stone of Wisdom.
Ackster’s soul was already in a state worse than death. He would have succumbed to his injuries even before his soul shattered. Without a part of his body to heal back from, Ackster wouldn’t heal. So, as soon as all of his body was naught but ash, he was as good as dead.
He had managed to cling to his consciousness for a short while to try and muster his skills to resist the blue sun, but even that had its limit. He broke through that limit with Limit Breaker, but when his soul shattered, Ackster’s mind collapsed, as did the usage of Limit Breaker.
With his mind collapsing in such a state, there was nothing about Ackster that was alive.
The necessary condition for Trana’s Covenant had been fulfilled.
However, that didn’t change anything about the current situation of what remained of Ackster’s soul and body.
His skills and the liquid Stone of Wisdom fought against the blue sun valiantly. But the blue sun just wouldn’t stop releasing more, more, more, and more heat!
Even with Ackster’s limitless potential and cockroach-like survival ability, it was a guaranteed death. It was the bare minimum of what Trana had deemed necessary to kill him without giving him a chance of survival. That was what she had to do to use her power to kill Mazar before it faded.
It certainly worked. Even with his skills struggling to hold on, Ackster was dead. Smelting Furnace would have also lost the battle if not for the Stone of Wisdom entering the fray. Smelting Furnace, the Stone of Wisdom, Unstoppable, and Survivalist were the last remaining vestiges fighting in Ackster’s honor.
However, they were not alone.
A few crumbs of the three sources, Will, mana, and vitality, remained. They sought shelter behind the only thing undaunted in front of the blue sun, the Sun God Token.
The blue sun had started to affect even the broken trident. Yet, the Sun God Token remained untouched but unable to touch the blue sun.
Unlike the broken trident, which was just a piece of Heavenly Iron luckily smelted and turned into or maybe even forged into the shape of a trident after its heated descent onto Millmeria either by nature or by intelligent hands, the Sun God Token was properly refined Heavenly Iron.
Crafted by the Sun God to be a symbol of his power for eternity to come, it was forged, refined, and baptized in the flames of the sun brought to the land of mortals by the one who dared call himself the Sun God. The Sun God brought out, altered, and strengthened the Heavenly Iron’s attributes, turning it into a masterpiece even the gods and smiths of the Celestial Realm would admire.
For ages too many for a human to count, the Sun God Token had slumbered, lazily absorbing any heat or fire that came close. But now, the Sun God Token had a miniature sun in front of itself, and it was one that disobeyed itself. It was finally something worthy to use as fuel and to reignite the dead embers inside.
It was time to slumber no more.
It is time for the dawn of a new era steeped in the fires of the past. Forged anew and given new life by the transcendent flames of a dragon, the Sun God Token wakes.
The mystic powers of the gradually awakening Sun God Token spread out. It shielded the Smelting Furnace. No... It caught the blue sun, trapping it and all the heat it released, thereby shielding the Smelting Furnace from the heat.
However, the remnants of Ackster’s three sources weren’t so lucky. They got caught inside the Sun God Token’s trap and faced the full brunt of the blue sun’s restrained and captured heat.
But they didn’t get incinerated.
The Sun God Token belonged to and was made by someone who could be called a god of fires.
The blue sun’s heat and fire, while still intense enough to vaporize iron in moments, wasn’t as oppressive and destructive as before. It was under the Sun God Token’s control. And the Sun God Token was cooperating with the Smelting Furnace to reduce and refine the blue sun’s power.
The Sun God Token, despite all its might and splendor, had spent the last few eras dead asleep without a lick of energy to speak of, after all. Against the transcendent power of the blue sun, there was a limit to what the Sun God Token could do until it restored itself.
Cooperating with the Smelting Furnace’s attributes was only a matter of course. It was also the perfect environment for the Sun God Token to grow and nourish its own fires and heat.
The Sun God token didn’t merely take heat from other sources. It was also its own source of heat and fire. The Smelting Furnace was a place where it could grow itself and help its surroundings grow hotter in perfect symbiosis.
The Sun God Token enveloped the blue sun with its powers as it began to drain away and control the raging heat. It drew that heat closer to the three sources, which, under the onslaught of the blue sun, the Sun God Token, and the Smelting Furnace, were unable to resist. Despite seeking solace and lending their aid in times of need, the three sources succumbed to the fate of all things devoured by Ackster’s Smelting Furnace.
They melted.
