Roadmap to the Boundless Sky-Chapter 31Book 3, : Block And Attack
Xiongjian Yi’s arms were crossed in the seventh car. Because of his size, he made the two security guards beside him look delicate.
With a stony face, he sat still, but the two security guards kept watching him warily. Even the driver occasionally stole glances at him through the rearview mirror.
Just then, the car passed by a corner and inevitably slowed down. Xiongjian Yi’s expression changed, and he leaned back.
A saber flash resembling a wheel came cutting down from above. The refined force from the saber rammed into the car, and it was cut into two.
The two halves of the car tumbled and bounced off the road, but the people inside weren’t weaklings. Even the driver had immediately wrapped his head and curled up his body to protect himself.
The second half of the car only bounced off the road a few times before a powerful force shoved at it from the inside, and it flew off the road. When it landed, it kept bouncing and tumbling nonstop until a tall man standing at least 2.1 meters came out. Black, tight-fitting clothes covered his bulging muscles. He had such long arms that his fingers seemed to be able to easily brush against his knees. The man was wearing a pair of goggles and had his hair in a ponytail
He was Xiongjian Yi.
Based on his movements and refined force, Chen Chuan could tell that he was already a Third Limit martial artist.
That was to be expected.
If he hadn’t reached this level, he wouldn’t have dared to come crawling back to the Great Shun Republic.
But that was fine. Now, Chen Chuan knew that this man was his target.
Chen Chuan didn’t have time to fight at leisure. The Gong family had security guards, and if they surrounded him, he’d be in great trouble.
So, Chen Chuan slowly straightened his back. The moment his gaze met with Xiongjian Yi’s, he clenched his saber hilt tightly and charged forward while swinging his saber upward.
Xiongjian Yi didn’t have a weapon because the Gong family had been keeping a close watch on him, but he didn’t need any. He was a grappler, and he was covered head to toe in custom-made protective gear. Combined with his refined force, he could withstand weapon attacks to a point.
In the face of the saber flash, he moved backward and tilted his body back, avoiding the blade by a hair’s breadth. At the same time, he watched Chen Chuan’s movements.
Next will be a downward slash...
The saber changed its direction to a downward slash. Xiongjian Yi continued moving back, and the blade grazed the tip of his nose.
His eyes remained fixed on Chen Chuan.
And then a thrust!
Just as he predicted, after missing with the downward slash, Chen Chuan brought the saber hilt to his waist and channeled all his power downward. The tip of the saber was turned to him to deliver an explosive thrust.
Xiongjian Yi had been waiting for this moment.
His back muscles rippled. The instant Chen Chuan delivered the thrust, his refined force would fade, and he would need to gather power again to generate his next attack. If Xiongjian Yi closed in during the gap in the chain of attacks, he could seize the saber, grab Chen Chuan, and break his bones.
Chen Chuan’s gaze remained calm as he kept his eyes fixed on Xiongjian Yi. The moment he was about to deliver the thrust, he let go of all inhibitions on his mutated cells and activated the Furnace Breathing Technique. His blood started boiling, and he used all his strength to thrust the Frost King Saber forward.
His saber had been slow in the beginning, but halfway through, it suddenly sped up. Chen Chuan moved so fast that he turned into a blur that even Xiongjian Yi couldn’t see clearly.
What?
Xiongjian Yi’s eyes widened. His prediction about Chen Chuan’s last thrust had been made based on the first two slashes, but the sudden change in speed caught him off-guard, and he couldn’t react in time.
Still, his body reacted instinctively. With his mutated tissue channeling power forward, he brought his arms up, crossed them over his chest, and moved back.
However, the lightning fast saber pierced through his arms, went through his chest, and came out of his back with a sickening sound.
With just one attack, Xiongjian Yi was injured badly.
But Third Limit martial artists were tenacious, and this wasn’t a mortal wound to him. Still, his arms were pierced through, and grappling was his greatest strength, so this was the same as him losing his ability to counterattack.
Yet if Chen Chuan pulled the saber out, he would surely die. If they had been alone, then no matter how much he struggled, he wouldn’t have been able to turn the tides.
Fortunately, the Gong family’s security team was nearby. They would soon react to the situation and provide reinforcements. Xiongjian Yi tightened his muscles and mutated tissue to clamp down on the saber.
Meanwhile, Gong Zhanyi’s armored car came to a stop. Despite being ambushed, he showed no signs of panic and just asked calmly, “Who’s the attacker?”
Since they were experiencing domain interference, he couldn’t judge the situation for himself, but he had a knowledgeable person next to him. The man took a look and said, “Sir, I think that trench coat belongs to the National General Affairs Bureau...”
Gong Zhanyi’s expression changed. They had predicted that the Resolution Department might try to capture Xiongjian Yi, and Gong Zhanyi could still deal with them, but the National General Affairs Bureau?
“Kill Xiongjian Yi, now!” he growled.
“Understood!” The butler’s heart skipped a beat.
Once Gong Zhanyi gave his order, the members of the motorcade brought their guns up without hesitation.
Meanwhile, Chen Chuan pulled the saber back, along with Xiongjian Yi.
Since Xiongjian Yi had been pierced, he couldn’t generate a complete wave of refined force. In an instant, he was dragged over to Chen Chuan, who shoved a palm forward.
It sent alarm bells ringing in Xiongjian Yi’s head. The mutated tissue in his neck pulsed to protect it while he ducked his head down so quickly that his ponytail swung at Chen Chuan like a whip.
But Chen Chuan ignored it and rammed his palm into Xiongjian Yi’s forehead. Refined force blasted into him, and blood gushed out of Xiongjian Yi’s mouth and nose. He was thrown backward, and his neck was exposed.
Chen Chuan then grabbed his cheeks and slid down until he reached Xiongjian Yi’s neck. He dug his fingers in and yanked down.
Rip!
The soft tissue, flesh, and bones were all yanked off.
Xiongjian Yi could only let out a breathy moan. Blood gushed out where flesh was torn and landed on Chen Chuan’s scarf.
At the same time, Chen Chuan felt movement behind him. He twisted his saber and switched places with Xiongjian Yi.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Gunshots rose in the air, and all of them hit Xiongjian Yi. Most of them landed on his protective gear and slid off.
Then, Chen Chuan heard something strange before feeling Xiongjian Yi’s tensed muscles relaxing.
The firing stopped.
Chen Chuan looked up and saw a huge hole in Xiongjian Yi’s forehead. The bullet had gone through the back of his head. It was accurate and fatal.
Even a Third Limit martial artist could not survive their brains being reduced to mush, no matter how tenacious they were.
Chen Chuan saw his second self blurring out violently for a moment before the effect disappeared.
Hurried footsteps came from behind him. The Gong family’s security team had run over and spread out while training their guns on his back.
Yet Chen Chuan acted as if he didn’t sense them. He calmly pulled his saber out of Xiongjian Yi’s body.
Once the blade’s chilling light appeared under the sun once more, Chen Chuan flipped his wrist and flung the saber. Once Xiongjian Yi lost all semblance of support keeping him upright, he fell backward and crashed on the road with his limbs akimbo.
Shao Heng’s team had also arrived, but to their surprise, the fight had already ended.
It had been less than twenty seconds since Chen Chuan jumped down from the balcony.
When they arrived, they saw Xiongjian Yi falling while Chen Chuan stood on the road with his saber in hand and the Gong family’s security guards had their guns trained on him from all sides. They appeared really nervous.
Chen Chuan turned to the squad and recognized them as part of the Resolution Department based on their uniform. Immediately, he understood what had happened. They had been stationed in the area to clean up the mess if he screwed up. He raised his saber and walked over to them.
Meanwhile, the butler turned to Gong Zhanyi, only for the latter to shake his head. Without his order, no one fired a single shot and just watched Chen Chuan leave.
Shao Heng gave a signal to a team member, and they went to the manor that served as Chen Chuan’s station.
Once Chen Chuan made it over to them, the team member returned and threw a sheath to him. “Yours, Chen Chuan.”
Chen Chuan caught it and thanked the team member before looking at Shao Heng. “Sir, Xiongjian Yi has been confirmed dead. According to protocol, I need to go back and make my report now.”
Shao Heng grinned. “Not bad, kid. Go. What’s left is not within your job scope, so leave it to us.”
Chen Chuan gave him and the team a nod before straightening out his scarf, putting the Frost King Saber back into its sheath, and leaving the place.
Turning his gaze forward, Shao Heng motioned for a team member to speak to the Gong family. Just then, his Realm Pass started functioning again, and Li Fusheng’s voice came through. “How’s the situation over there?”
“Xiongjian Yi’s dead, Captain Li,” Shao Heng answered.
“So soon? Did you kill him?” Li Fusheng asked.
“No. It’s that new kid. Chen Chuan, right? When we arrived, he had already killed Xiongjian Yi.”
Li Fusheng was silent for a moment.
“What did you say?”
“I said, when we arrived, Chen Chuan had already killed him!” Shao Heng shouted.
“Are you sure?” Li Fusheng sounded as if he couldn’t believe it.
Shao Heng turned to Xiongjian Yi. “There’s a bloody hole in his head, and his brain has turned to mush. I don’t think he can be saved.”
Li Fusheng sucked in a deep breath and said, “Take Xiongjian Yi’s corpse with you.”
“And then?”
“Leave. We’ll let the higher-ups take care of the rest.”
The call ended, and the team member who retrieved the sheath produced something else. “Take a look, Shao Heng.”
Shao Heng did and was shocked.
Holy... These are all powerful medicines that can bring out a person’s potential, and he took them all at once? Isn’t he worried about overdosing? Do all kids nowadays push themselves so hard? he wondered.
