Roadmap to the Boundless Sky-Chapter 10Book 3, .2: Getting Rid Of The Anomaly (Part Two)
Book 3, Chapter 10.2: Getting Rid Of The Anomaly (Part Two)
Xiao Man ran over, pulled the mannequin out of the closet, and dragged it while huffing to the backyard.
Chen Chuan didn’t help him. Since Xiao Man was the cause, he had to bury the supernatural being himself to get rid of this anomaly. No one could interfere.
If Xiao Man died, the supernatural being might disappear as well, which meant that if no one took up the mission, things might actually end with his death.
But that wasn’t a good solution. Since the supernatural being had pretended to be Xiao Man’s brother, if Xiao Man died, then bigger problems might stem from it.
Also, the mannequin couldn’t have appeared in the shack out of the blue. If Xiao Man had never seen it before, it meant that Xiao Man’s brother had brought it back.
But for what reason?
He recalled the mannequin’s appearance and thought of a possibility, but there was no longer any meaning to dig into it.
After some time, he heard the sound of dirt being shoveled in the backyard, and the intensity of his second self blurring out gradually faded away.
Chen Chuan had decided to take on supernatural beings to stimulate his mutated tissue, but that depended on the type of supernatural being he was dealing with. It was impossible for him to capture this sort of supernatural being, and its effects on its surroundings weren’t strong. Otherwise, everyone within its vicinity would have died. That was why Chen Chuan didn’t even consider capturing it.
After a while, Xiao Man came back covered in dirt, but much more calm. He looked at Chen Chuan and asked, “I’ve buried it. Is that all I needed to do?”
“It is. You did well, Xiao Man,” Chen Chuan praised him.
“Thank you, Mister,” Xiao Man said gratefully.
Chen Chuan patted his shoulder and said, “You’re a brave little guy, Xiao Man. Let’s go out and tell them that it’s done.”
“Okay!”

Brother Chong, the tiny man, and Qi Gao had been waiting outside for more than an hour, but they never heard anything from within the shack. The tiny man grumbled, “Can he really do it?”
Qi Gao began to feel nervous. Even so, he appeared confident, though it wasn’t all an act. After all, Chen Chuan was a Martial Valor University student, and he had witnessed Chen Chuan’s strength before. He should be fine.
“The door’s open!” the tiny man cried out.
Chen Chuan followed behind Xiao Man as they came out. Then, he turned to Qi Gao and gave him a nod. The man sighed inwardly in relief.
Xiao Man went to Brother Chong and apologized. “I’m sorry, Uncle Chong, Brother Ding. I’m sorry to everyone else too.”
“You don’t have to apologize to us, Xiao Man,” the tiny man said. “When your brother was alive, he took care of us too. We understand how you feel, but...”
Xiao Man wiped away his snot and said, “The mister told me that the thing wasn’t my brother. I won’t let it affect anyone else anymore.” 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
“The anomaly has been taken care of. You can wait for a few days to confirm it before paying us,” Chen Chuan said.
“No need. Since Xiao Man was willing to come out with you, we trust you,” Brother Chong said earnestly.
Qi Gao took the chance to step forward. “Well then, guys, don’t you think it’s time to carry out your end of the promise?”
“Of course. Xiao Ding, give them their reward,” Brother Chong instructed Xiao Ding.
Xiao Ding grumbled but still took out a wad of cash from his back pocket. Due to Qi Gao’s request, they had brought the payment in cash. This way, they wouldn’t have to use the platform, and no one would be able to find any traces of the transaction.
Qi Gao took the cash and counted the bills. Once he was sure the number was right, he reminded them, “Don’t try to retrieve the deposit you paid to the mission platform. You won’t be able to get it back. You’ll just get into trouble, and you’ll get me in trouble too. Bye now.”
Chen Chuan gave them all a nod and a second one to Xiao Man. Then, he left with Qi Gao. Soon, they got into the SUV and left the area.
Once in the car, Chen Chuan took out a notebook and a pen. As he carefully thought about his words, he wrote down a heading.
The Emotional Anchor to a Family Member.
Recording the supernatural beings he met had become a habit. Later on, he would file them away, just like Cheng Zitong.
Qi Gao was ecstatic. While they didn’t get a lot of money, the mission’s success had proven Chen Chuan’s abilities. This meant they could get more missions in the future. “Think a seven-three split between you and me is suitable, Chen Chuan?”
“Let’s go for fifty-fifty,” Chen Chuan offered instead.
While the money was important, finding a supernatural being he could use was even more so. If he could find one that could provide enough stimulation to his mutated tissue, the money he could save would cover whatever he gave away to Qi Gao.
After some careful consideration, Qi Gao said, “I’ll be honest with you. I’m in great need of money right now, so I’m going to shamelessly agree to your offer. I’ll think of some way to return what I owe you in the future. Anyway, where are we going right now?”
“It’s late, so I should go back to the university,” Chen Chuan answered.
“Okay. I’ll send you back.”

Half an hour after they left, an armored SUV stopped at the entrance of the run-down neighborhood.
A man with a glowing suit and hair gelled into spikes asked, “Is it here?”
“Yes. This is where the mission is.”
“What a run-down place. Dachen, deal with it as soon as possible so that I can go back to eat.”
“Got it.”
The door opened, and a man with a ruthless face and a baseball cap got out. With a saber in hand, he went to Xiao Man’s shack.
