Road to becoming the wealthiest: Starting From Treasure Hunting in the Cabinets-Chapter 46 - Attack
Chapter 46: Chapter 46: Attack!
Chapter 46 -46: Attack!
After checking the first container, Sean moves on to the second one.
In the second container, there is a pile of miscellaneous items: picture frames, paint, chairs, and easels.
Sean wonders if there once was a painting enthusiast who had painted here?
Ignoring it.
There is still nothing valuable in the third container, and Sean is somewhat disappointed.
The assistant cuts open the door of the first container, revealing several large wooden boxes.
On top of the boxes are Chinese characters which read “Caution: Fireworks”.
Upon seeing this, Sean’s face was filled with surprise:
“As expected, they are from China!”
“What is this stuff? What do these characters mean?” Someone who doesn’t recognize them asks.
Some people immediately take pictures and send them to others for help.
Jason quietly asks Sean:
“Bosuns, what’s inside these boxes?”
“Hmm, you can think of it as fireworks.”
“Oh!” Exclaiming, Jason immediately shuts up, as if it was a big secret.
Sean wanted to remind him that this wasn’t a secret, but seeing as Jason seemed unnerved, he decided against it.
Jason was cherishing his opportunity to follow Sean.
When everyone finishes looking at the containers, the auction begins.
“The auction starts now. The reserve price is 200 dollars, and each bid increase must be no less than… no less than 50 dollars. Okay, let’s begin!”
The auctioneer is a young man, apparently a newbie, who even stammers slightly when speaking.
Sean finds this quite amusing since this kind of auctioneer is a first for him.
“Hush–!” Some people start jeering, as this kind of auctioneer is also a first for them.
When people hush, the auctioneer’s face turns somewhat red.
The container owner’s expression next to him isn’t pleasant either.
Hiring a cheap auctioneer really doesn’t amount to much!
Sean raises his hand:
“300 dollars!”
Seeing Sean raising his hand, the auctioneer reaches out towards him as if he’s his savior:
“This gentleman bids 300 dollars, 300 dollars, 300 dollars. Is there anyone else with a higher bid? Higher bid for 300 dollars…””
He cherishes this opportunity very much.
As Sean starts bidding, others begin raising their offers too.
Even though they haven’t seen Sean before, these folks are aware of the formidable Chinese treasure hunter who recently arrived at the port.
Very soon, the price skyrockets to 650 dollars, and Sean raises his bid again:
“800 dollars!”
“800 dollars, 800 dollars, this gentleman raises the bid again to 800 dollars, is there anyone who can match it? 800 dollars…””
The auctioneer is very grateful to Sean, and even raises his voice when calling out Sean’s bidding price.
After several rounds of back-and-forth, Sean eventually wins the container with a bid of 1,200 dollars.
“Congratulations!” The auctioneer loudly speaks to Sean, extending his hand towards him.
Had Sean not intervened in time, the auctioneer might have lost his job after today.
“You’re welcome.” Sean shakes his hand: “You did well later on, just be bolder, and consider them all a pile of cow dung…””
“Haha, you’re very humorous!” The auctioneer releases his hand, “My name is Cook, thank you!”
Afterward, the auctioneer loosens up considerably, though Sean doesn’t go to those two places.
He and Jason inspect the containers, checking the items inside one by one.
“One hundred small fireworks, forty medium fireworks, and twenty-four large fireworks.”
“One dragon dance set, two lion dance sets.”
“Some lanterns and couplets are also included.”

Sean understands that these items should be sold in Chinatown for the approaching Spring Festival.
He calls Mr. John, who informs him that he doesn’t have any connections in that area.
After thinking for a moment, Sean calls Monica Brown.
“You’re saying you have a batch of fireworks, dragon dances, and lion dances?”
Monica Brown didn’t expect Sean Knight to call her about this.
“Yes, I don’t know if you know any relationships in Chinatown, but this stuff can only be sold to our Chinese people.”
Monica thought for a while and said, “Then wait a moment, I’ll make a call.”
Monica hung up, and Emily Taylor asked by the side:
“What does he want on the phone?”
Because Sean brought them a fortune, vented their anger, and cooked a good meal for them, Emily’s attitude towards Sean had improved a lot.
“Sean has a batch of fireworks in hand. He wants to sell them but has no channel to do so. He’s asking if I know anyone.”
Emily tried to think.
Monica thought for a moment, and said with a smile:
“My father has a friend who runs a trading company in Chinatown. Let me ask him.”
After saying that, she turned to the address book, found the number, and dialed it.
Emily had a complex expression on her face.
“Monica, what made you call me?”
“Uncle Richardson, I have something to bother you…”
“You say!” The other party was very forthright.
“My friend has a batch of fireworks, shipped from S City. He’s asking if there’s anyone interested over here…”
“Fireworks? I want them! The Spring Festival is coming up, and I’m out of stock. I’m worrying about it!”
“Then I’ll tell him your number, and you two can talk!”
“That’s great. I’ll give you a big red envelope when the deal is done!”
“No need, no need…”
After hanging up, Monica sent a text message to Sean, telling him about the matter.
Just after Sean finished reading the text message, the phone rang again.
“Are you Sean? My name is Howard Richardson, I’m a friend of Monica’s father, running a trading company in Chinatown. I heard you have a batch of fireworks?”
“Yes, big, medium, and small, four boxes in total. Besides, there are Dragon Dances, Lion Dances, and some lanterns and couplets.”
“That’s great, where are you? I’ll come to check the goods, and we’ll talk.”
“I’m at the port, Warehouse 44.”
Half an hour later, Howard Richardson drove the truck over.
Seeing Sean’s situation, he was very surprised:
“Mr. Knight, are you a container treasure hunter?”
“Yes, this container was abandoned after it came ashore. Mr. Richardson, you can check the goods first.”
Howard cautiously opened the boxes, saw the intact fireworks inside, and searched for the production date.
“Good, these were produced three months ago, they’re considered fresh stock.” Howard looked through the other boxes and randomly checked the items.
“By the way, these Dragon and Lion Dances…”
“I’ll take them too!” Howard agreed directly
“Let me tell you the price, and you can see if it works.”
Howard took out a calculator and said to Sean:
“Small fireworks are 5 dollars each, medium ones are 15 dollars each, and large ones are 50 dollars each. Dragon Dances are slightly more expensive, at 800 dollars, while Lion Dances are of good quality, priced at 500 dollars each, as for the remaining lanterns and couplets…”
“I’ll give you the lanterns and couplets for free!” Sean interrupted, “We’ll have more opportunities to cooperate in the future.”
“Generous!” Howard gave a thumbs up and looked at the calculator:
“4,100 dollars, I’ll pay you right now…”
“Okay!”
“You don’t need to pay Monica’s commission separately; I’ll give it to her together!” Howard repaid the favor.
“Mr. Richardson is amazing!” Sean also gave a thumbs-up.
That’s the attitude of doing business!
Although the profit wasn’t much, Sean felt good and gave Jason a hundred dollars, as there were fewer items this time.
Jason was embarrassed to accept, but Sean said:
“We still have to help Mr. Richardson load the items.”
He rushed to the next freight yard in a hurry.
Unexpectedly, danger was waiting for him!
