Rise to God with Life Skill Professions-Chapter 411 - 401: The Emergence of the Ruins
As soon as the words fell, the scene plunged into deathly silence.
Liu Ji and the others did not respond, as they were well aware that only Qin An was qualified to converse with the shadowy figure currently condensing.
Accompanying Qin An’s words, the shadow continued to materialize.
But during the process, a faint sigh was heard.
"Who would have thought that after so many years, Xunyang Prefecture would produce someone as exceptionally talented as you. This is indeed fortunate for Xunyang Prefecture."
Once these words were spoken, the shadow finally condensed into the figure of a young man in black clothing.
The young man in black was handsome, with long, straight black hair cascading to his waist like a waterfall.
Though his figure was lean, it was as upright as a pine tree, giving an illusion of towering over everything.
Yet a swirl of Evil Qi continuously circled around him, unmistakably revealing his identity.
"Pseudo-God!"
Liu Ji was stunned.
He could sense that the aura emanating from the young man in black was far more terrifying than those blood-red eyes they encountered at the mirage.
If it were to be compared, those eyes were a river, while the young man in black was a vast ocean.
Wu Da and Wu Er trembled slightly and didn’t even dare to meet the young man’s gaze.
Zhu Qingsha tried to suppress her Charming Skill, fearing her Charm Skill might displease the young man in black.
Though they were all intimidated, they could also see that the young man in black seemingly held no killing intent.
Moreover, his words unabashedly praised Qin An.
"Only Mr. Qin can inspire such admiration even in such a dire situation; indeed, this charm is unparalleled."
A thought rose in everyone’s mind.
Qin An didn’t know what they were thinking. He squinted, shook his head, and said, "Senior, you overpraise me. I am merely a junior who hasn’t even reached the Unity Realm."
The young man in black shook his head and said, "You need not be modest in front of me. I am naturally aware of everything concerning you in this Ancient Battlefield relic. My praise is not insincere but rooted in reality."
Qin An fell silent, raised an eyebrow, and said, "So, I see. Senior’s identity is indeed extraordinary."
The young man in black smiled slightly, "It seems you’ve already guessed my identity. Why not say it directly and see if you’re correct?"
Qin An said, "Senior, you are the fragment of this Ancient Battlefield relic, am I right?"
Upon hearing this, Liu Ji and the others widened their eyes in disbelief.
The Ancient Battlefield relic is vast.
It once became a battlefield between humans and alien races, where both sides erupted in a battle that turned the world upside down.
Due to the battle, the Ancient Battlefield has fragmented into countless pieces.
One piece fell into Xunyang Prefecture.
No one expected that the young man in black before them was a Pseudo-God formed from a fragment.
The young man in black laughed heartily, "You are indeed smart, guessed correctly. I am indeed a Pseudo-God formed from a fragment of the Ancient Battlefield relic. But I’m curious, how did you guess?"
Qin An shrugged, "Across endless space, Senior, you can fend off the mirage. Such strength is rare in the Ancient Battlefield relic, and since you mentioned knowing the various workings I performed secretly in the relic, if one could know, it could only be the fragment itself."
The young man in black approvingly said, "Indeed, your strength is formidable, and your mind is equally nimble. Truly a good seedling. Not wasting Jin Fengyu’s efforts to cultivate you with all his might."
Qin An, slightly surprised, said, "Senior has encountered Mr. Jin?"
The young man in black nodded, "Yes, back then, that young man was merely a small Mountain Patrol Copper General. I held him in high regard, gave him benefits, then he rose to become the Mountain Patrol Golden General. You are unaware of these events, and he has never mentioned them to anyone else. Indeed, I named myself Ancient Yi. You can call me by name, or anything else; it matters not to me."
"Senior Gu," Qin An cupped his hands, "You went through such lengths to save us here; you must have other matters to discuss. Why not speak directly, Senior Gu?"
Now that everything has been clarified, and Ancient Yi’s identity is understood, Qin An naturally doesn’t want to waste time.
To return earlier to the Evil Extermination Bureau, he must diligently hone his Scholar Profession skills and step into the Unity Realm.
Crises are increasingly rampant now; a slight misstep could lead to a demise, leaving Qin An to seize every opportunity to enhance his power.
Ancient Yi pondered, "Indeed, your temperament is quite aloof, yet I favor this unyielding demeanor. If anyone shows me servility, I find it distasteful. Well then, I won’t drag out your time. Are you curious to know what the grand plot to overthrow Xunyang Prefecture is?"
Qin An nodded, "Yes, though we are here to execute a mission, we indeed wish to learn more secrets."
Liu Ji also showed a interested expression.
He always felt that the hidden secrets here could astound the world.
Ancient Yi’s gaze swept across Liu Ji and the others, suddenly waving his sleeve.
Soon, a barrier of Evil Qi enveloped Liu Ji and the others entirely.
Liu Ji was bewildered.
He found himself unable to see the outside world, couldn’t hear any sound from beyond, and even his senses were blocked.
"Such formidable methods," Wu Da marveled, "With just this sealing technique, we don’t even have the qualification to resist."
Zhu Qingsha furrowed her brows, "You’re so calm, aren’t you afraid of any unforeseen events?"
Wu Er replied coldly, "I’m not worried."
Liu Ji appeared confused.
Wu Da then explained, "Senior holds Mr. Qin in high regard. The sealing technique just employed was not meant to deal with us but to ensure we don’t hear anything we shouldn’t."
Upon this explanation, Liu Ji immediately understood.
He was able to reach his current status because he wasn’t a fool.
The fewer people know a secret, the safer it is.
If too many people know, and you cannot keep the secret, it might bring about disaster.
"Keep waiting," Liu Ji said.
They couldn’t gain any advantage from the Ancient Yi, and now that it let them rest here, waiting was their only option.
Outside.
Qin An watched Liu Ji and the others enveloped by the Evil Qi and shook his head: "Senior, now that you have sealed them, can you finally tell me the so-called secret?"
The Ancient Yi waved its sleeve, and a stream of Evil Qi lifted Qin An over the ever-flowing river to an isolated island surrounded by it.
With another wave of its sleeve, a round table and two stone stools appeared before Qin An.
On the stone table sat a pot of fine wine and two cups.
"Sit."
The Ancient Yi spoke succinctly, sitting on one of the stools, pouring Qin An a cup of wine, and nudging it toward him along the round table.
Qin An wasn’t the type to hold back; he raised the wine and drank it down.
The Ancient Yi narrowed its eyes slightly: "You’re not cautious at all. What if I had poisoned the wine? How would you respond?"
Qin An shook his head and said, "Given your strength, Senior, you could kill me with ease and wouldn’t use such lowly means."
"You do remain calm," the Ancient Yi put down its cup and said lightly, "Alright, let’s get to the point. I’m going to tell you an earth-shattering secret."
Qin An twirled the wine cup but didn’t speak, patiently waiting for the Ancient Yi to continue.
The Ancient Yi paused briefly, its gaze gradually sharpening: "The ruins of the Ancient Battlefield are slipping out of control, and I cannot manage the entire fragment. All of this comes from that mysterious Pseudo-God."
Upon hearing this, Qin An frowned deeply.
"Senior, please elaborate further."
The Ancient Yi nodded slightly and continued, "Long, long ago, that Pseudo-God fought against two True Dragons. In the end, one of the True Dragons fled to the ruins of the Ancient Battlefield, and the Pseudo-God pursued it."
"Seeing the True Dragon in danger, I used a Secret Technique to hide it, but I didn’t expect the Pseudo-God’s power to be so strong that it shifted its attention to me."
"I once engaged it in battle, but we were evenly matched. It wielded a Divine Soul skill, which was incredibly powerful."
"After that, the Pseudo-God turned its attention to the ruins of the Ancient Battlefield, encouraging the numerous Pseudo-Gods born from it to practice the Divine Soul Refining Body Skill, plunging them into endless madness. By now, half of the Pseudo-Gods have succumbed to madness."
Hearing this, Qin An lifted his head and drank more wine, asking: "Did you not intervene, Senior?"
Logically, since this happened, the Ancient Yi, as a fragment of the Ancient Battlefield turned Pseudo-God, should have intervened.
But why didn’t it?
The Ancient Yi sighed and said, "How could I intervene? The Divine Soul Refining Body Skill is very intricate, and I have no way to solve it. If I acted and destroyed those Pseudo-Gods, the ruins of the Ancient Battlefield would become extremely weak, and I would also become weak, letting the Pseudo-God take advantage."
Qin An showed an expression of realization: "I see."
The ruins of the Ancient Battlefield rely on its fragment, and if those mad Pseudo-Gods were destroyed, the ruins would weaken quickly.
Qin An asked again: "Does Mr. Jin and others know about this?"
The Ancient Yi shook its head: "I haven’t told them."
Qin An frowned and said: "Why not tell them? If Mr. Jin knew, perhaps the Evil Extermination Bureau of Xunyang Prefecture would take action."
That’s what Qin An didn’t understand the most.
Why this secret was unknown even to Jin Fengyu.
The Ancient Yi sighed: "Now half of the ruins are controlled by the Pseudo-Gods. It’s very difficult for Jin Fengyu to even enter and find me, let alone act without obstruction, and I can’t find them either."
"The reason I found you today is simply that you happened to enter the Mirage, which lies between void and reality, allowing me to find the gap between them and convey the answer to you."
"I know you’re puzzled about why I don’t seek others. Only you, who can enter the Mirage and possess the Three True Intentions of Heaven, Earth, and Man, can bear my transmitted voice. The channel I opened for you in the Mirage won’t last long; at least for now, only you can find that door."
With every word, the Ancient Yi’s face grew more somber.
Qin An understood the Ancient Yi’s intentions and asked, "Should this be conveyed to Mr. Jin?"
"Naturally," the Ancient Yi said without hesitation, "tell Jin Fengyu and let their group of Mountain Patrol Golden Generals prepare because no one knows what the Pseudo-God is plotting. If it seizes control of the Ancient Battlefield, it could plunge Xunyang Prefecture into chaos."
Qin An put down his wine cup and nodded, "In that case, I’ll depart immediately. On returning to Xunyang Prefecture, I’ll inform Mr. Jin at once."
Now, everything was clear.
Qin An had no intention of staying here.
After returning, he would first inform Jin Fengyu and then focus on advancing to the Unity Realm as part of his Scholar Profession.
The Ancient Yi nodded, "That’s just as I hoped. If they have any plans, you can enter the Mirage, and I’ll transport you here again."
Qin An stood up and said, "Then please, Senior, lift the seal on them, so we can return immediately."
Time waits for no one; wasting a minute here meant one less minute to strengthen himself.
Getting closer to the big secret of Xunyang Prefecture meant more danger; he didn’t want to waste time.
The Ancient Yi shook its head, taking out a wooden box from its chest and placing it on the table.
Qin An frowned and asked, "What’s this?"
The Ancient Yi smiled slightly: "I have high hopes for you, my junior, so I intend to give you a benefit."
