Rise of The Strongest Monarch-Chapter 84: Visions
As I try to focus on the fight I can see the strange flashes from before, almost like I am seeing the past. The environment around me keeps changing back and forth, like it can’t make up its mind.
"Liam?" Amelia calls out, her voice fading into the distance.
I close my eyes for a moment as I try to relax.
Blink. Blink.
As I open them back up I can see city streets all around me, zierel seem to be waking all throughout them. It is only noticeable with small features that they possess.
Claws, the eyes themselves, small distorted limbs, and just the constant lingering darkness. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Why am I seeing a vision like this? It doesn’t really tell me much or give me any idea on what the hell is happening here. And why would it be during the fight?
Too many questions, not enough answers. The usual problem I seem to face when it comes to things I want to know or need to know.
I’ll just have to push forward until I can see what’s really in front of me again.
I start to walk along the city streets, nothing here is modern like the buildings I know. It almost feels as if I’m in a fantasy novel of some sort.
The building designs are quite nice at least, especially with some of the different symbols etched into the sides.
But the strangest part about it all... I can feel their eyes watching me as they walk past.
Grab.
"No need to be scared," a girls voice speaks up while holding onto my hand.
I turn my head slightly to see that it is the same exact girl from before.
"Aren’t you fighting against Zeno right now?" I question with confusion in my voice.
"I’m afraid I don’t understand what you’re talking about but we should walk," She responds while continuing to hold my hand.
I begin to walk with the girl, noticing that the eyes are no longer on me.
"Did they stop staring because of you?" I ask with curiosity in my voice.
"You’re human. It is expected when none of us are like you," She answers in a blunt manner.
"Right," I say softly.
"I think you are experiencing this because you are infected with our blood," She replies without even looking my direction.
This girl really is something... I don’t understand any of this. Why does she know about my infection too?
"Being infected means I can see this?" I ask with confusion in my voice.
"Zierel don’t typically see visions of our home but for you it might be because of the mix of blood," She responds.
"Then why am I just seeing this now? I’ve been infected for a few months now," I question with even more confusion in my voice.
"I don’t have every answer you are looking for," She responds with a calm tone.
It is kind of stupid to assume that she might give me answers to everything I need, but this is strange. The fact that I’m even talking to someone inside of this vision.
Celeste also didn’t mention anything about me having this experience before.
But the girl did say that Zierel don’t see these kinds of things so I don’t really know what else to expect. I just know that I have to get back to what’s really happening right now.
Zeno is fighting against the girl I’m talking to right now and I don’t want to be stuck in here.
"You said I was fighting someone?" She asks with a curious tone.
"Yes," I answer without hesitation.
She just stops walking for a moment, almost like she is stuck in thought.
"I’m assuming it is a light bearer since that is the only reason I’d fight anyone," She says while looking closer at me.
"Why does it matter?" I question.
"Because light is deadly, but I think I can beat him," She answers with some confidence.
And now she has given me even more of a reason to get the hell out of here while I can.
Ba-dum. Ba-dum. Ba-dum.
My heartbeat is loud as hell again, what is going on? Am I panicking without realizing it... I need to get my shit together if I want to help in the fight outside of this.
Think Liam, think. What can I do to bring myself back to the reality at hand?
Poke. Poke.
My attention is taken once again when I notice the girl poking my cheek.
"Thinking of how to leave? I don’t blame you since this place isn’t really great for humans," She says softly, a smile on her face.
"Why aren’t you hostile towards me?" I ask, keeping more of a serious tone.
"Something is connecting us and I don’t know what it is," She answers a bit more nervously.
"Do you have a name I can call you?" I ask without thinking.
"Rose," She answers.
"Liam," I introduce myself.
Everything starts to slowly disappear after our introductions are done, almost like that is all it took for me to leave. She finally lets go of my hand as well, giving me the go ahead to leave this place.
But the eyes are now staring at me once again.
I quickly close my eyes and hope for the best since I don’t really know a way out of here otherwise.
Blink. Blink.
After blinking I open my eyes to the sight of Amelia standing in front of me again. The fight is still raging on in the distance with no real end in sight.
"Are you okay Liam?" Amelia asks with concern in her voice.
"Yeah, I just zoned out really bad," I answer while wiping my face.
"I’m still a bit lost on what to do with this fight since I can’t even keep up with them," Amelia says, changing the topic.
I’m glad she didn’t push on what happened since I don’t even know how to explain what I went through. Seeing the home of the zierel is definitely not something I can easily explain.
Even celeste has been quiet about her home or anything to do with it. She’s just been on my side with killing her kind for whatever reason.
Then again, she also told me not to trust Airi before? Or am I remembering something wrong about this whole situation.
"You remember right. I don’t think Airi is a good person in the slightest," Celeste chimes in with more of a serious tone.
Why do you think she’s not a good person?
"Her entire aura just radiates death and I don’t think that is normal for a light bearer," Celeste answers.
I never really got that vibe from her before but maybe there is something that you see and I don’t. You are technically enemies at the end of the day so maybe that’s why you feel that way.
Zierel feel like they radiate death from their auras as well so I don’t think they are good in the slightest.
"We definitely aren’t. I’m sure I’d be ripping apart some unfortunate human right about now if I wasn’t here," Celeste responds without any hesitation whatsoever.
You’re definitely back in some sort of mood right now and I don’t know if that’s good or bad. Feels bad since you are talking about ripping apart humans.
She doesn’t really say much else after that, just a single wriggle through my arm before silence.
"I’m serious Liam," Amelia speaks once again.
"Huh?" I question with a bit of confusion in my voice.
"I genuinely don’t know how we can help when we can’t even keep track of the enemy ourselves," Amelia answers with a frustrated look on her face.
I look towards the fight once more, realizing that it really is impossible for us to help here. The speed of the fight has only gotten faster during the last few minutes.
"We’ll just have to put our faith in Zeno for the time being," I say with a serious tone.
"So we just sit here?" She questions.
"Pretty much. It’ll be suicide for us to try to intervene right now," I respond while crossing my arms.
After that Amelia just takes a seat on the ground while we both continue to watch the fight ahead.
I’m positive that Airi is still unconscious from the damage she took before as well, so it really is all on Zeno. I don’t think there’s much more he can do against the girl though.
Zeno seems to be better with range and she won’t give him the chance to use that to his advantage.
Yet he wouldn’t be a strong light bearer if he had to rely on range alone to kill zierel. There’s more to him that we haven’t seen, at least that’s just one of my guesses at this point.
Step. Step. Step.
Just barely I can hear footsteps approaching from behind us, but it couldn’t be another enemy... Right?
