Chapter 64: Zeno Against The Abomination [2]

White light begins to grow brighter and brighter from my pistols as I aim towards the goliath once again. I pull the triggers the moment the light stops forming.

BANG!!!!!

The beams of light fire away at the goliath with a trail following behind it, until finally it hits it right in the chest.

FLASH!!!!

Light engulfs the area as a gust of wind blows bust me, leaving nothing behind but a screech from what was once there. The goliath isn’t dead yet.

I can’t see the goliath at the moment but I know that it is somehow alive after all of that.

Sometimes it really does take the ultimate cleansing technique to wipe these assholes out. I might have to use it after all this time... How surprising is that.

We have a purpose, something to thrive towards no matter what.

Killing these monsters so that the humans here have a chance at living once again. I don’t want them to deal with what we had to during the great war.

A surge of energy flows into my right eye as I continue to stare ahead, keeping my focus on the direction of the zierel.

I lift one hand up before taking a deep breath in and then letting it back out.

Most light bearers have refused to use such a technique because of the effect it has on the body, but I believe this will be fine.

Luminous Dominion.

I watch as a bunch of statues begin to form all around the goliath ahead, each one holding a rifle in their hands. Within seconds they begin firing, sending a barrage of light into it.

The gunshots echo off of the buildings around me as the goliath begins to cry out.

Each moment that passes by, another barrage fires off until the zierel starts to turn into ash.

Thud.

I fall to my knees for a moment as the fatigue starts to kick in, leaving me with just enough strength to keep myself upright.

Snap.

The luminous dominion disappears as the ashes of the zierel lay on the ground where it once was.

I knew that it couldn’t survive such a powerful technique like that... Otherwise I’d be fighting it forever. A goliath of that scale with the ability to constantly regenerate after my attacks is a lot.

Most light bearers would’ve fallen back until they could come back with reinforcements.

Just, I’m not the type to run away from a fight. I’ll never leave behind a bunch of kids just to save my own damn life, that’s just not who I am in the slightest.

"Hahaha," I begin laughing as my guns disappear.

I look back towards Liam and the girl next to him, both of them look confused.

Humans won’t understand the kind of trouble I just went through to save their lives... Then again the girl was also using some sort of light.

Maybe she isn’t completely human.

Liam also has something unique in that sword of his as well, maybe all hope isn’t lost for them yet. They might be capable of fighting back the zierel if they can get strong enough.

There’s only one thing off about him, the zierel infection along his arm.

I don’t even know how he is managing to keep it from turning him... That alone is quite the achievement.

After a couple of minutes I manage to recover enough strength to stand back up, allowing me to turn around to face them completely.

Time to go catch up with them a bit.

(Liam’s Perspective.)

I don’t really know what I just saw, but that guy did something insane. The light kept blinding me throughout most of the fight, yet he put down that Zierel.

That is the kind of strength I need to reach.

Getting strong enough to turn a zierel into ashes, that is the kind of strength that will be enough for me to wipe them out from the world.

"I’ll help you up," Amelia says while taking my arm over her shoulder.

I don’t get to say much before she lifts me up.

"This guy really is strong. I never got to see him fight in person before so this is definitely something to remember," I respond while keeping a calm tone.

Step. Step.

Zeno is finally standing before us with both of his hands in his pockets.

"I can’t believe you two were fighting that thing, it was a real pain in the ass," Zeno speaks with a casual tone.

"It took a lot of damage so I figured it couldn’t be that bad," I reply while looking closely at his face.

His right eye is bleeding a bit, but he doesn’t seem to be phased by it.

"The goliath back there was healing constantly from the damage. I think it has quite the feast here which is why I couldn’t kill it easily," Zeno says with more of a serious tone in his voice.

"Your eye is bleeding," Amelia chimes in.

He wipes the blood away from his eye before looking over at her.

"You were using light against it, something that I don’t ever see humans doing," Zeno says with a bit of interest in his voice.

"Yeah. I have light bearer blood in me apparently," Amelia replies with a laid back tone.

"Half Breed. I didn’t think any existed but maybe that’ll be good for you two," Zeno says with a smirk on his face.

I still don’t understand it but this guy just pisses me off for some reason... Even after helping us with this goliath as he calls it. Or maybe it is just an effect from the infection coursing through my body.

The feeling in my arm is returning as I feel it wriggling around in there.

"I’m just happy we got through this," Celeste says with relief.

Yeah, me too. I honestly didn’t think that a light bearer would show up in time to help with this.

Actually, I didn’t expect one to show up period since we are in a city far away from where everything was happening. I guess they must be lurking around as well.
