Rise of The Strongest Monarch-Chapter 50: What Will Happen Now?
"Liam?" Airi calls out.
"Sorry I just got a little lost in my thoughts for a second there," I respond.
"I just want to make sure you are paying attention since Amelia asked what’s next," Airi says with a calm tone in her voice.
Honestly I didn’t know what to expect next myself since a lot happened today. It makes me wonder how hectic the days will get from here.
Airi took out that hybrid zierel completely this time so I’m sure that won’t sit well with the other ones like him.
"I’m listening so what are we going to do now?" I ask with a curious tone.
"I will finish clearing the remaining zierel around here while you two start to head out of the city," Airi answers, a smile forming on her face.
"Who said I am just going to tag along again?" Amelia questions.
"You could benefit from leaving the city as well," Airi answers without wasting a second.
"I definitely need a few days to get back my strength again," I speak up.
Airi turns back towards me, a smile still on her face.
"That is fine. I don’t want anything bad to happen to either of you," Airi responds with care in her voice.
I look towards Amelia and then back to Airi.
"That works for me, at least for now," I say softly.
After that I got up and went back to my room to get some rest while Airi goes over some stuff with Amelia. She’s probably going to try to win her over a bit more.
It feels nice to be back in my room.
I walk over to my bed to get some rest for awhile until I recover from everything.
The thought of leaving the city without Airi is kind of weird to think about. She saved my life from that hybrid so I don’t know what will happen if something similar occurs.
I also don’t really know what could be outside of the city at this point when the whole world is messed up.
There’s really no benefit to it... Especially if you think about it. Unless stronger people are out there waiting, that could be my only guess.
"You want to wipe out the zierel... Obviously you’d need to leave the city as well," She speaks up.
"I didn’t think about it like that for some reason," I reply quietly.
"Wiping out the hybrids outside of the city will give you a better chance at cleansing the world," She says with a serious tone.
Killing hybrids is going to take a lot more strength and speed than I currently have at the moment. I’ll have to figure out this power a bit faster than I’ve been.
As the final thought passes by I begin to doze off, everything disappears around me.
For the first time in awhile I don’t have any nightmares and wake up peacefully. The movement in my arm is the only thing I can notice right now.
"Your arm really is interesting to watch move around," A voice says softly.
I jump up as I realize that Amelia is sitting at the side of my bed hunched over.
"W-What the hell?!" I reply while catching my breath.
I don’t think I’ve been scared in quite some time so this definitely caught me off guard. I didn’t even notice her presence there which is the strangest part about it.
"I came in to check on you since we need to decide if we’re going to leave or not," Amelia says while standing up.
"I thought you didn’t know if you wanted to go in the first place," I respond while running a hand through my hair.
"Killing zierel in other parts of the world is definitely going to make a difference. I’d like to live in a world where I don’t have to deal with monsters all the time," Amelia says with a soft tone.
I stand up from my bed and look down at my arm.
"A world free from zierel is definitely the goal," I reply with a serious tone.
"What about the infection in your arm?" Amelia asks with curiosity in her voice.
"If I don’t find a way to deal with it, I’ll just need to die as well," I answer without any hesitation in my voice.
She walks out of my room after hearing my answer.
I use that as my opportunity to get some clothes on since I need to head out there afterwards. It takes a moment but I manage to find another outfit to wear.
Most of the outfits are similar to what I usually wear anyway.
But as I exit my room I can see Amelia waiting for me, she’s just leaning up against a wall with her arms crossed.
"If we’re going to be traveling together it is probably better off that I get to know you better," Amelia says with a casual tone.
"We’ll definitely have plenty of time to do that," I respond before walking past her.
Originally I didn’t want to have anyone by my side... Yet now I have Airi and Amelia who are by my side in this endeavor. Not something I want by any means.
People will die by my side.
That is just the way it goes and that is exactly why it is better for me to be alone.
We walk out into the main room where Airi is sitting down reading something, some sort of book. A lantern also sits at her side as she waits for the two of us.
The strange feeling of someone watching is also back... weird timing for that to return.
Regardless I take a seat across from Airi, ready to hear what she has to say. Amelia takes a seat right next to me.
Amelia originally said we have to give Airi our decision today. I don’t think I’m ready to decide on it yet, especially when I haven’t gotten a lot of rest.
