Rise of The Strongest Monarch-Chapter 43: He’s Back
My sword begins to connect with the flesh of the zierel as I start to hear students shouting behind me. Almost like it is surprising for them to see others fighting against the monsters.
It isn’t enough to mess me up in any sort of way, but I do notice that they aren’t very fast either.
Slash!!! Slice!!!
The girl and I both continue to wipe out the zierel that are currently in the courtyard, keeping the students safe for as long as possible.
It only takes a couple of minutes for us both to deal with the current zierel around us.
"I think that’s all of them for now," The girl says while hunching over.
She looks a bit tired.
"It is probably smart to take a breather for a few moments while we can," I respond.
My sword disappears once again and I take a seat next to the tree in the center of the courtyard; students are still staring intently at us.
"It would also help if I knew your name," I speak with a bit of exhaustion in my voice.
"Amelia," She replies quietly.
"I’m Liam. Nice to meet you Amelia," I say genuinely.
"Now we just need to get through this," She replies with a casual tone.
The chatter near the steps picks up once again, mostly them wondering about who we are. But someone is also making their way over here at the same time.
I lift my head up to see that Tess is walking over here with the usual cold expression on her face. The one she had before I came along in the first place.
After a moment or two she ends up in front of me.
"Liam you came back," She says softly.
"I heard the explosion so I came to help," I respond with a calm tone.
"Are you planning to leave after everything is done?" Tess asks with sadness in her voice.
"There’s a lot I need to accomplish... So yes," I answer.
Stomp!!! Stomp!!!!! Stomp!!!!!!!
Loud footsteps interrupt the moment as I turn to see even more zierel are inside of the courtyard.
These things aren’t getting the hint with all the dead bodies around us... how annoying it is to deal with them like this. I enjoy killing them but I don’t want to keep people in fear here.
None of them have attempted to help against the zierel which tells me that they aren’t ready to fight in the slightest. It also means I would have wasted my time here for nothing.
Sitting around in classrooms for what?
"Tess do you know how the explosion occured?" I ask while standing up.
"No one really knows. We were all in the middle of class when it happened and the teachers ran off to figure it out," Tess answers, unsure of anything.
"Is that what you saw?" I question with a serious tone.
She suddenly seems to go pale as she stares back at me.
"I forgot you know about my power... I might’ve seen someone cause it. It is one of the teachers who did this," Tess answers as her hands shake a bit.
A teach being involved in this doesn’t surprise me much since not everyone in this world is bound to be pure. Others will seek out ways to get stronger with the worst possible methods.
This could be some sort of sacrifice to appeal to the stronger zierel that are watching this unfold.
I look slightly over my shoulder to notice that the zierel aren’t even moving towards us right now.
That’s even stranger... why wouldn’t they be moving at all? We aren’t even attacking yet so what is going on all of a sudden?
"Did you happen to see which teacher is behind it?" I ask with a curious, yet serious tone.
"Miss....Rose," She answers.
Without thinking I push Tess out of the way as my sword clashes against a blade that I just barely saw coming.
It takes a second but then I begin to notice a figure standing before me, holding a sword of their own. It is firmly pressing against mine as I start to realize who is here.
Her long black hair, the lewd dress, and the black veins around her chest. Miss Rose is standing before me with red completely overtaking the color of her eyes.
Zierel really do give off a demon like appearance when it comes down to the eyes, huh. Black like tendrils are wrapped all around her arms and down her legs.
Some black veins are even up her neck and slightly showing in the right side of her face.
"Did you lose against your infection or something? This seems a bit out of character for you miss rose," I say while pushing harder against her sword.
Instead of speaking she sends one of the tendrils out from her arm that tries to pierce me, luckily I manage to dodge it while quick lifting my sword up again.
"The infection won the fight, no use in trying to talk to her," Amelia chimes in.
"So she’s a hybrid?" I question with confusion.
"No. She’s a lost cause," Amelia answers without hesitation.
Clang!!! Clang!!!
I suddenly find myself blocking against her attacks as she rushes me relentlessly, her sword hitting against mine with more force each time.
Still it isn’t a problem to block against it for the time being but I need to take care of her before someone gets hurt.
With a swift motion I parry her next attack and swing my sword across her chest.
The blade does cut through her skin pretty easily and even forces her to take a few steps back as a combination of red and black blood drips onto the ground.
This makes me wonder if you are planning to do the same thing to me or not. To turn me into a mindless monster who is incapable of making their own decisions anymore.
I don’t want to end up like her.
