Rise of The Strongest Monarch-Chapter 37: The Hunt [1]
Everything goes silent as I begin to notice multiple sets of red eyes glowing in the dark around me. Each one of them is at a different height from one another.
I’m relying on pure swordsman ship from Airi right now... None of the power is being used at the moment. I don’t have a single clue how to actually use it but this sword is more than enough.
That much is clear to me after fighting off that other zierel. It isn’t very fast so maybe this will be the same for these ones.
I slash the sword towards the ground and some of the blood flings off of the blade.
There is definitely more of them than I expected but it is completely doable with the right amount of patience. Timing every attack is going to be the only way to win.
Stomp!! Stomp!!!!! Stomp!!!!!!
From my left one is charging towards me with full speed, already bringing its claws down towards me.
Clang!!!
I block it with just enough time for me to kick it away, but another one is rushing towards me from the right. Quickly I roll under its attack as it brushes past me.
Killing them off quickly is going to be the only way I actually succeed in this fight, otherwise I’ll end up dead. Fighting for too long will exhaust me... Like any normal human being.
I shift my gaze towards the two that already attacked me and realized that they are already gone. None of them are being quiet with their movement though.
Stomp!
Instinctively I turn around while swinging the blade towards the sound of the stomping.
Slice!!! Tumble!!
All I notice is blood hit my chest as something falls onto the floor next to me. It doesn’t take much for me to realize that I killed another one with a clean cut to the throat.
Immediately I begin to look all around me as the stomping comes at me from every direction.
"How will you get out of this one?" She asks.
I ignore her as I wait for them to get closer.
3, 2, 1.
Without wasting a single second I swing the sword around in a circle, hoping for the best possible outcome.
Thud! Tumble! Thud!!
Everything goes completely quiet as I begin to hear bodies dropping all around me. For a minute I feel like there could still be another one lurking but then nothing happens.
I fall to my knees as I realize that all of them are dead with different slashes through specific parts of them.
Blood and bodies of zierel all linger around me on the floor.
This is just one location that I didn’t even expect to be at... It isn’t that far away from the church either. This place is... What?
It is kind of hard to read anything when there isn’t a whole lot of light. I mostly relied on the sound of them to even get here in the first place.
I pull out a small match to ignite for a little bit of light. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Chirk! Chirk!
The match finally ignites and I use it to look around for any sort of sign to tell me where I’m at currently. After a few moments of looking around I notice a sign.
’Willow Street’.
Willow street is one of the locations I have to handle so I guess it works out that I’m here already. Killing the ones here wasn’t too bad.
I’m sure it won’t be easy to kill the others since they aren’t all on the same level. Airi told me not to underestimate any of them since they can change up real quick.
Zierel have a few unique variations but I don’t really know much about them, even Airi said that it is rare.
Most light bearers wipe them out without even realizing the variant because of how strong they are. One day I’ll reach that level where it doesn’t matter.
"Next! Next! Let’s go spill more blood!" She shouts with excitement.
Wriggle. Wriggle. Wriggle.
The feeling in my arm intensifies as I continue to listen to her excitement.
"Please let’s spill more blood!" She pleas with excitement.
I need to regardless of you wanting me to. There’s quite a lot of them that need to die in order for me to have a successful hunt here today.
The biggest target is the market district since that is said to have the most survivors potentially hiding around.
My match dies out and I stand up.
I don’t waste any time here and start to make my way down the street. Listening for anymore zierel.
It takes me a little while but I finally end up finding another location that Airi told me to head to. ’7th Street’. It is quite empty here with no sign of any zierel.
All of the buildings here seem to be abandoned as well, no sign of any life here.
I don’t think she’d send me somewhere if there isn’t a good reason for it. There has to be something here that I need to do or maybe someone I need to find.
Shuffle.
I finally just barely hear something moving around in one of the buildings. With that I start to scan the buildings for any sign of red eyes.
After a couple of minutes I finally notice something staring at me from the end of the street. The eyes aren’t red like the zierel I’ve seen up to this point.
A bright green staring at me like it is looking into my soul.
I did expect to run into some different types of zierel so this will definitely be an interesting day for me. I’ve already killed quite a few zierel... I’m not just getting lucky this time.
I’m also not relying on the infection this time around which is kind of nice. Killing them with this sword feels kind of good.
Shuffle. Shuffle.
It disappears before I can move towards it.
Where’d it just go?
