Rise of the rogue queen-Chapter 7 -
Chapter 7: Chapter 7
Caden's POV
She lunged forward, her claws aiming directly for my neck. I dodged her attack with ease, grabbing her arm and throwing her towards the cell wall.
"Not bad." I sneered. "But not good enough."
She snarled, grinding her teeth, running towards me with great speed. She clenched her fist ready for a blow which I already saw. But then, just a few seconds to the impact, she changed her attack.
Zephyrine dropped low, twisting her body. With a sharp snap of her leg, she kicked my knee from the side.
I was distracted for a moment, surprised by her new tactic. She didn't hesitate, giving me no time to recover as she slammed her shoulder into my chest, making me fall backwards.
For the first time in many decades, someone was able to land an attack on me, impressive.
"Didn't see that coming, huh?" her claws were at my throat. One quick slash – that was all it would take.
But her claws refused to move.
She pressed harder, willing them to cut through my flesh, yet they trembled against my skin, like a blunt blade.
Her confused expression made me chuckle. "Even your claws must've realized it. You can't kill me."
I raised my finger, controlling her body to rise. She struggled trying to take control of her body, "What do you think you are doing? Let me go this instant."
"If you dare lay a hand on her, I swear you won't leave to see the next day."
"Sleep."
"Roland!" she screamed loudly. "What have you done to him? Let me go, you monster."

"Don't worry, he's not dead. At least not yet."
"I swear I'll kill you."
I chuckled at the sound of that, I've heard it countless times and no one has been able to.
"You should worry more about the rogues you left."
She furrowed her brows. "What do you mean?"
"Killian is working with Bryan to have me killed." I said.
"Who really are you?" she asked.
I smirked, with a snap of my finger, a chair appeared, and I slumped into it, crossing my leg over each other. "Someone you don't want to know about."
"Is that why I was unable to kill you?"
I grinned, "That's because you are my mate, and you can't kill me."
I could feel her anger and just how much she wanted to slit my throat.
The sound of heavy footsteps resonated through the building. I grinned and muttered. "It's time."
"Someone is coming?" She said,
"If you want to save the remaining lives of your rogues, you will have to do as I say. Keep the idea of killing me for later, not like you can." I shrugged.
With a snap of my finger, I released my control over her body and awoke her assistant. She rushed to him, helping him up.
"The news about Alpha Killian's weakness is false right. It isn't his weakness, it's yours."
I smiled, "How clever. Ain't I lucky? I got a beautiful mate and a clever one at that."
"Enough with your taunts. What is really going on?"
"We are about to be dead. That's what's going on. Stop asking questions and prepare to fight."
She sat on the floor, her arms folded beneath her chest, her expression nonchalant.
"I bet handling them won't be a hard fit for someone like you, MATE. Use whatever you used to control my body on them; it's clear you don't need my help."
I sneered, "Too bad, I guess I'll have to deal with Bryan too. Someone won't get the chance to deal with her ex mate."
"You better not slow me down, and you stay out of my way. Bryan is mine."
I chuckled, "Whatever you say, princess."
"You better not think this is over. Once I'm done dealing with them, you are next." She suddenly turned to me giving me a fierce look. I raised my hands in the air, surrendering.
I noticed her assistant's absence and grinned. "You asked your second to run away? Isn't he supposed to protect you?"
"It's none of your business." She said,
The footsteps grew louder, the scent of wolves thick in the air. I could hear their hushed whispers. The fools thought they had the advantage.
Zephyrine tensed, her claws flexing at her sides, eyes locked onto the iron door that separated us from our uninvited guests.
I sighed. This will be fun.
The door burst open, and a group of wolves stormed in. Prepared, and oh-so-confident. Their leader, Gideon, stepped forward.
"Caden," he called with no form of authority. Not like I could blame them entirely, they have no idea who I am else they would be crumbling on their knees and begging for mercy.
Zephyrine let out a low growl, stepping forward. I caught her wrist before she could lunge.
"Easy, princess," I murmured. "Let them talk."
She yanked her arm away, glaring at me, but she didn't attack.
Gideon smirked. "She's obedient, huh? Never thought I'd see the Rogue Queen following orders."
Zephyrine's eyes turned red with rage. "I don't take orders," she hissed.
Gideon chuckled, then raised his hand. Instantly, the wolves behind him rushed forward.
Zephyrine moved first. She was faster than I'd expected.
She ducked beneath a wolf's blade, then spun, her claws slashing his gut open. Blood sprayed across the stone walls. Another came at her from the side, but she caught his wrist, twisted, and snapped it like a twig before driving her claws into his throat.
Gideon lunged at me, a silver dagger in his hand. I sighed, tilting my head just as the blade missed my cheek by inches.
"Pathetic," I muttered.
I raised my hand, and he froze mid-motion. His eyes widened in horror as his limbs stiffened against his will. With a flick of my wrist, I sent him crashing into the nearest wall. He gasped, blood trickling from his lips, but I wasn't done.
I clenched my fingers into a fist, and he screamed, his body twisting unnaturally, his bones snapping.
"Monster," he choked.
I grinned. "You're just figuring that out now?"
Across the room, Zephyrine fought so fiercely. Three wolves surrounded her, but she didn't hesitate. She dodged and weaved through them forcing them to attack each other. One tried to grab her from behind—mistake. She twisted sharply, grabbed his arm, and slammed her elbow into his ribs so hard I heard them crack. Causing him to crumple.
The last wolf standing charged at her with a sword. She sidestepped, then, in one calculated motion, she grabbed the blade by the hilt and yanked it free. Before he could react, she drove it straight through his chest.
The room went silent.
Only Gideon was left, still pinned by my power, his breath ragged.
Zephyrine stepped toward him, blood dripping from her claws. "Where's Bryan?"
Gideon spat at her feet. "You think he'd be stupid enough to come himself?"
Her eyes darkened.
"Wrong answer."
She slashed her claws across his throat. He gurgled, eyes wide with shock, before slumping to the ground.
She exhaled, then turned to me. "How many more?"
I tilted my head, listening. "A dozen, maybe more."
"Good. They asked for this." Zephyrine said wiping the blood off her face, then smirked. "If they lay a hand on my rogues. I'll break their bones each, one by on."
