RISE OF EROS-Chapter 676 - 575
While Andrew, his wives, and friends frolicked in Cannes Palace, chatting and drinking tea, the continent burned beneath a sky heavy with tension, every corner filled with the echo of hurried footsteps and shouts of command.
The hunt for the Purgatory members and the traitor dragon Carcom had turned the realms into a vast chessboard where every piece, both divine and mortal, moved with relentless purpose.
Kael, the demigod of the Four Winds, led his subordinates from the floating sanctuary in the Horizon of Mists. His blazing eyes scanned vast maps illuminated by the glow of eternal torches.
"Reports from our scouts confirm that members of Purgatory have been spotted in the ports of Tripia. Their goal seems to be to sow chaos at sea. If we manage to intercept them, we might be able to stop their advance," said one of his most loyal subordinates.
Under her command, her warrior followers imbued with the blessing of the storm wind marched as one, setting up ambushes and sealing strategic routes. Caravans of supplies and weapons moved with maximum efficiency while the pleasant wind emanating from Kael infused protection in their hearts.
In the north, among the dense forests of Sylvanis, Lyria observed the landscape from an elevated tree platform. Her presence was a rustle of leaves and a caress of a cool breeze. The demigoddess known as the Guardian of the Dawn moved her people with calculated grace, whispering strategies to them as one shared secrets with the trees.
"The dragon Carcom seeks refuge in these lands. If Purgatory ventures here as well, we will not let them desecrate the forest. Set traps in the clearings and secure our escape routes," she said with authority.
Her allies, centaurs, elves, and enchanted beasts, spread out like shadows, knowing every tree and path. Lyria was confident that her bond with nature would be enough to detect the intruders before they could act.
In the mountains of Brakar, Draneg, the demigod known as the Boneweaver, summoned his undead. The energy around him was a storm of darkness. His fierce gaze flashed with the gleam of a promise of victory.
"We do not seek hiding places or hide in the shadows like rats. The shadows are our domain, and we will march into the heart of the conflict and crush Purgatory and that winged traitor," Draneg said determinedly.
His followers, hardened by years of battle, roared their approval. They moved in well-trained columns, carrying heavy weapons forged from metals blessed by the gods. Draneg led from the front, knowing that his very presence inspired both fear and respect.
Asha, the Crimson Tempest, from her throne of blood overlooking the scorching desert of Mir-Al’Sar, summoned her generals to prepare their forces. "Our spies report that Purgatory plans a direct attack on the dragons. Prepare to sabotage their operations at the right time," the demigoddess said.
Her followers, masters of disguise and infiltration, operated without a trace. Their movements were so calculated that they had already wreaked havoc when their enemies noticed their presence.
Theron, the Shadowwalker demigod, whose existence was as fleeting as a breath said, "Evil cannot prevail. We will find the members of Purgatory and the traitor Carcom. They will have no place to hide."
Theron organized patrols and sent emissaries to nearby towns and villages, searching for clues. Every step he took radiated hope, instilling courage in the hearts of even the most fearful peasants.
As the demigods mobilized their forces, Crhono, the primordial dragon, soared above the clouds alongside his offspring. Under his leadership, the lesser dragons patrolled the skies with constant vigilance.
"Watch from above. Not even a whisper of the wind must escape our ears," the ancient dragon said seriously. His expression was unlike any these Dragons had seen over the centuries, thus demonstrating the seriousness of the situation.
The dragons monitored the movements of the demigods, looking for patterns that might betray their plans. Although their presence in the skies was imposing, it also made them targets for Purgatorio, who had already begun plotting their next move.
In a realm of shimmering clouds, Samanuel, the supreme angel, organized his legions. Each of his angels carried holy weapons and resolute hearts.
"We must not allow chaos to spread. Dragons and demigods are key players, but our duty is to preserve divine order," Samanuel said, trying to raise the spirits of the few angels, but everyone knew that it was just a way to seek Andrew’s goodwill, rather than protecting the balance.
The wings of his troops crossed the skies, carrying messages and reinforcing defenses where necessary. Samanuel maintained a delicate balance between intervention and neutrality, knowing that one wrong move could tip the balance catastrophically.
Meanwhile, Purgatorio’s leaders and members did not remain idle. In the ports of Tripia, they organized raids to destabilize the sea routes. Pirate captains and mercenaries hired by Purgatorio spread terror on the seas, attacking ships allied to the demigods and dragons.
In the duchy of Cannes, the streets vibrated with rumors of an impending insurrection. Agents of Purgatory infiltrated the city, fomenting unrest and weakening local defenses. Damon, the ruler of the duchy, was increasingly isolated, caught between internal threat and the possibility of a direct attack.
The entire continent was on the brink of a monumental showdown. Each faction, from the demigods to the dragons to the members of Purgatory, moved their pieces with a mix of precision and desperation. Amidst this web of intrigue, the traitor dragon Carcom continued his erratic flight, avoiding his pursuers while plotting his own plan.
Tensions were growing, and echoes of power and chaos resonated in every corner of the continent, foreshadowing the outbreak of a war that would forever change the fate of all.
Zaros, Lugia, and the other demigods in Cannes immediately noticed the anomaly. While spreading rumors were giving Damon a hard time, they could not fool the demigod experts.
In Cannes, nothing escapes Zaros’ gaze, and although Lugia had that same ability, Zaros has observed this city for centuries, so he knew who was not from this place or who was acting strangely.
It was for this reason that he quickly understood that there were external forces trying to cause chaos in order to attack somewhere else, but he did not know the real attackers and was sure that their objective was Andrew.
He quickly told Lugia and they marched towards Cannes Palace. They did not know where the enemies came from, but they were sure of their objective, so they had to prepare.
The gunpowder could be smelled in the air and even Andrew, who is relatively isolated from the situation, felt that something was happening and the arrival of not only Zaros and Lugia, but many demigods confirmed his feeling.
Despite the tension that could be felt, there was no movement during the day, however, that tranquility was brutally interrupted by the arrival of the Purgatory organization.
Under the cover of night, Purgatorio unleashed its first attack on Cannes, marking the start of a bloody campaign that would test the resolve of its defenders: Zaros, Lugia, and Lucian.

It all began with rumors. Traders traveling from the interior spoke of sacked cities and missing caravans. Though the tales seemed exaggerated, fear began to seep through the citizens.
Cannes had not known war in decades, and its defenses were more ceremonial than practical. This, for Purgatorio, presented a perfect opportunity.
In the early morning of a warm summer, the first signs of attack emerged in the harbor. Merchant ships were set ablaze, and plumes of dark smoke rose against the reddish sky of dawn.
The screams of the guards awakened the city, and within minutes, confusion reigned. A contingent of Purgatorio soldiers, led by hooded figures, began to advance toward the heart of Cannes, spreading terror in their wake.
Zaros, as Cannes’ military leader, was the first to react. Though aware of his army’s limitations, he did not allow despair to take hold of his subordinates.
His voice, firm as steel, echoed through the main square as he organized the defenses. Known for his strategic mind and temper under pressure, Zaros divided his forces into three detachments: one to reinforce the walls, another to evacuate the citizens, and a third to directly confront the invaders.
"Fear is the tool of the weak," proclaimed Zaros, looking down from above, as his men looked back at him with renewed hope. "Today we do not just defend Cannes, we defend the dignity and future of our people."
Everyone knew the founder of this duchy, but few knew he was still alive, and seeing Zaros on high commanding the troops ignited their spirits and morale, causing the city to tremble with euphoria.
As the soldiers of Purgatory advanced, a female figure emerged on the horizon, slipping through the rubble with supernatural agility. Lugia, the dragon with melee combat skills considered legendary, and that night was no exception.
