Richest Man: Divine-Grade Reconstruct System-Chapter 836 - 796: Please Don’t Come Back to Thank Me...
The girl is probably worried about whether I might return to the Celestial Realm and leave them behind.
That's likely what's making them so anxious.
However, thinking about it, Lin Yi understood and let it go.
If I were in his position, I would also fear that the newfound protector might just turn around and leave.
Gently rubbing the other's head, he then asked the other to lead the way.
However, along the way, Lin Yi did not mention where he had been, and the other party did not ask either.
In this manner, guided by Leng Yu, they reached the most central City Lord's Mansion, where Leng Yu had lived all her life.
It used to be the General's Mansion, where Leng Yu's family resided.
Leng Yu was particularly familiar with this place.
Although the Yan Soldiers had barged in and occupied it for a period, the flowers and plants, the basic settings remained unchanged.
During the three hours of Lin Yi's disappearance, after taking care of the elderly, women, and children on the other side, someone came and tidied up, preparing two simple rooms for Leng Yu and Lin Yi to stay in.
Since they were back here, since they were home, there was no need to stay in tents.
Following Leng Yu's steps, they arrived outside of a central master room, and as they pushed it open, Leng Yu spoke to Lin Yi:
"Young Master Lin, this used to be my father's residence. I just had someone quickly tidy it up. You can rest here tonight."
Stepping into the room, it appeared very spacious.
A large wooden bed was placed against the north wall, and in the middle was a round table with a wooden stool and a simple set of teacups and teapots.
On either side of the room, there was a desk and bookshelf, along with a rack for ancient artifacts.
Beside the desk, there was something resembling a coat rack.
Judging by its shape, Lin Yi guessed it might be used for holding Armor.
Whether or not those Yan Soldiers had looted the place was unclear, but now, aside from the bookshelf filled with books, the artifact shelf was mostly bare, with just a couple of lonely pieces left, while the rest were all gone.
Listening to Leng Yu's words, Lin Yi realized this was indeed where her father resided.
Thinking it seemed inappropriate to stay here, he suggested to Leng Yu:
"Since this is your father's room, it's not quite right for me to stay here. How about you prepare a guest room, and I'll stay there."
However, after saying this, Leng Yu quickly shook her head and refused:
"Young Master Lin. It's perfectly fine for you to stay in this room. After all, the lives of everyone in our army are owed to you. It would be improper for you to stay in a guest room, as my father's spirit wouldn't be at ease with that."
Hearing this, Lin Yi felt a chill down his spine and thought to himself:
"You're really trying to scare me here with your father's spirit not being at ease! I'm hesitant to stay because it's your father's room. If he came wandering around in the middle of the night, wouldn't that frighten the soul out of me?"
Of course, he could only gripe inwardly and couldn't say it out loud.
But seeing Leng Yu's firm stance and giving no room for argument, in the end, Lin Yi could only reluctantly agree to stay here.
Meanwhile, he pondered, as a fine young man of the 21st century, how could he believe in such strange occurrences? He considered himself a down-to-earth atheist.
Yet, the thought had barely arisen before he subconsciously denied it, thinking, "Atheist, huh? If I were truly one, how would I explain the system?"
Even though the system claimed to be a high-tech product developed by future humans, anything enabling time travel was bound to be fantastical, wasn't it?
Perhaps even the strangest stories dare not write it this way.
Seeing there was no avoiding it, Lin Yi settled in there.
Since everyone had already had dinner, Lin Yi decided to rest.
Standing by the door, he noticed Leng Yu hesitating, and couldn't help asking:
"Just say what's on your mind, no need to hesitate."
Upon hearing this, Leng Yu visibly shivered, glanced cautiously at Lin Yi, and noticed he was watching. She quickly lowered her head.
She shook her hands, saying it was nothing.
Afterward, she bowed slightly to Lin Yi, suggesting he rest early, then hurriedly made her way out to the backyard, seemingly fleeing.
Seeing this demeanor, Lin Yi shook his head, wondering what she was thinking. Ah, girls at this age are hard to read.
As Leng Yu was about to turn the corridor, Lin Yi's voice called out from behind:
"Oh, Xiao Yu, tomorrow I'll take you somewhere. Rest early tonight."
Completing this, he smiled and waved as Leng Yu turned back, hinting she could go. Then he turned into the room, shutting the door gently.
Inside, he examined the room again, clasped his hands, and bowed slightly towards the void, muttering:
"General Leng, whether or not your spirit is near, I've saved your daughter and subordinates.
For our friendship, rest assured in the afterlife without returning to thank me; I'm not petty…"
Fortunately, he muttered quietly, speaking to himself.
If anyone else had seen it, they might find it amazing, thinking he was a true Immortal.
Would an Immortal fear spirits?
Of course, Lin Yi's actions were just a spur of the moment.
After all this, he fetched two coils of mosquito incense from his space.
