Revive Rome: Wait! Why not make the empress fall in love with me first?-Chapter 287 - 85 Lord of Filth
Chapter 287: Chapter 85 Lord of Filth
Bernried, facing Berg Village just across the lake, had now transformed into a literal hell on earth.
Endless bodies, endless ruins, and countless swarms of rats spread across the hills and fields, crossing streets and infiltrating houses.
Damn Frankish people! Become the sustenance for my subordinates!
Among the multitudes of marching rats, one inconspicuous rat was especially excited. Its bean-sized eyes fixated on what lay ahead, as the viewpoints of countless rats converged inside its Mind Body, resembling the compound eyes of a fly, capable of observing tens of thousands of scenes simultaneously.
Through the ability "Rat Rank III," the Spiritual Bodies of these rats were linked together, becoming a part of him that moved at his command.
On this planet, every living creature inherently possesses some amount of Extraordinary Power. For ordinary people, the best method to concentrate and absorb Extraordinary Power is by transforming Spirituality-rich Spiritual Material into Magic Potion—after all, the efficiency of plundering Extraordinary Power through slaughter and consumption is relatively low, and it tends to dissipate during the digestion process, unable to coalesce into Extraordinary Traits.
However, at this moment, with control over the Spiritual Bodies of tens of thousands of rats, he could opt for a more extensive predatory method—devouring all visible living beings.
Flesh consumed to the bone, leaving no remains.
Due to the massive and prolonged killing and feasting, every rat’s tiny plunders of Extraordinary Power continuously flowed into the network of Spiritual Bodies, accumulating to a considerable scale.
Of course, if given a choice, he would have preferred to devour Transcendents, like those dozen or so Knight Squires from the Wolf diplomatic corps. The Extraordinary Power contained within their bodies had allowed his rat swarm to triple in size.
Extraordinary Power could accelerate the natural reproductive cycle of rats, strengthen their physical qualities, or enhance the ability of their claws and teeth to carry plague and toxins. The strengthened rat swarm could then wreak havoc and plunder more efficiently.
Bernried was nearly utterly destroyed, and if there were any remaining creatures left undiscovered, they were ordinary people not worth the time to hunt. The rat’s bean-sized eyes swirled around, its pupils gradually turning a vivid red.
He would urge these rat swarms to move quickly to the next town to consume more Frankish people... before the Demigod of the Weisbach family noticed him.
The current limit of Magic Tide Level is Lv.10. This has its advantages and disadvantages.
The advantage is that Transcendents above Lv.10, like the Weisbach family’s Demigod, cannot naturally recover their Spirituality, making it inconvenient for them to take action against him.
The disadvantage, of course, is that for the same reason, he also cannot gather Extraordinary Power that matches his current level to achieve advancement.
Yet his "Rat Rank" ability cleverly bypasses the limitations of the Magic Tide—by feeding through the swarm of rats, he obtains a vast amount of low-level Extraordinary Power.
This Extraordinary Power, diffused throughout the network of the rat’s Spiritual Bodies, substitutes his personal Spirituality consumption, thereby not limiting his abilities due to the Magic Tide.
Once the scale of the rat swarm expands to a terrifying extent, he will integrate all the rats into his body, using the massive amount of low-level Extraordinary Power to catalyze a qualitative change, coalescing into high-level Extraordinary Power sufficient for him to break through the threshold of a Demigod.
Demigod...
Demigod!
Suddenly, the rat lowered its body, its gaze fixed intently on a figure in the distance.
Red-haired Otto smiled as he looked at it, his hands buried in the body of a rat that had not yet completely died.
The Weisbach family’s Demigod! When had he been discovered? The Transcendent within the rat wanted to shift locations but found that the Spiritual Body network of the rats had suddenly collapsed.
He could no longer teleport to other rat bodies!
Under an invisible will, countless rats ran towards him, their flesh gradually merging into his body, forming an upright humanoid monster composed of countless fused rats, its skin still speckled with black fur and tails.
"Lord of Filth." Red-haired Otto narrowed his eyes slightly, revealing a hint of wariness.
"Sealing Furnace Fire." The humanoid monster’s voice trembled, "What brings the esteemed Demigod Lord here?"
"You have harmed the interests of the Weisbach family," Red-haired Otto said indifferently.
"I will compensate," the humanoid monster said softly. "I have already eaten these Franks. Even if you kill me, you can’t bring them back to life."
"But if you are willing to spare me, your Weisbach family will gain the friendship of a newly ascended Demigod. Isn’t that a better deal than us both being injured here?"
"You are very rational," Red-haired Otto sneered. "However, in your organization, rational people are often more threatening."
"How does a future threat compare to the current one?" the humanoid monster said. "If you weaken your own Spirituality to kill me, what about the looming Wolf family? If the Weisbach cannot win this civil war, what’s the point of killing me prematurely?"
"The point is, I don’t trust you," Red-haired Otto’s voice suddenly turned icy. "Bloodthirsty, soul-stealing, poisoning the countryside, spreading plagues across cities—your bloodline exists to create disasters!"
"Ha ha ha ha!" The humanoid monster burst into laughter as if he had heard something ridiculous, guffawing while clutching his belly. "To think the renowned Sealing Furnace Fire would believe in such a thing as the original sin of bloodlines!"
"Wildfires turn to ash, and creatures turn to dust. How is your bloodline any better? Emperor once marched against Duke Henry the Lion. The innocent souls destroyed by your hands far exceed thousands of mine! I merely slaughter cities; you annihilate nations! What right do you have to criticize me!"
"I, Red-haired Otto, act purely upon the holy oath bestowed in front of His Majesty, fulfilling my duty without betraying my heart!" Red-haired Otto declared resolutely.
"What a statement about not betraying your heart!" The humanoid monster scoffed. "With a thick skin like that, you are indeed worthy of being the founder of the Weisbach family!"
"Further conversation is pointless," Red-haired Otto stated indifferently, seemingly losing interest in continuing the verbal exchange and dismissively waved his hand. "Lord Aske, I leave it to your people."
"Understood," Aske drew his sword and stepped forward.
"Who are you?" The humanoid monster immediately sensed something wrong. Huh, why isn’t Sealing Furnace Fire acting personally?
"The Azure Longsword Mercenary Corps!" Aske yelled loudly, "Everyone, attack!"
The Azure Longsword? What on earth! The humanoid monster was initially taken aback, then burst into great joy.
Could it be that Sealing Furnace Fire doesn’t want to be my enemy and thus sent these lower-level Transcendents to besiege me, just for show?
Once I kill these men, will Sealing Furnace Fire pretend to retreat, saying it was these mercenaries who couldn’t stop me, and he arrived too late?
The humanoid monster thought he understood the opponent’s intention and slowly revealed a bizarre smile.
The next second, that smile was blown apart by bullets.
The monster’s head suddenly exploded, turning into countless bats in the sky that nearly blocked out the sun, and ferociously attacked the people of The Azure Longsword.
These bats flapped their wings swiftly mid-air, suddenly losing the ability to fly—precisely speaking, the air beneath their wings was sucked dry. They fell like rain onto the ground and were soon drawn into a single point by an emerging Gravity Field Ball.
Sigrdrifa had already charged forward, taking advantage of the bats not yet regrouping. North Wind Axe traced an arc, brutally striking them.
Freeze!
All the bats were instantly turned into a clump of icy debris. Sigrdrifa caught the returning North Wind Axe with her right hand, while her left hand’s Power Armor palm was already pressing on the ice ball.
Palm-Thunder!
A massive voltage concentrated in her palm, instantly piercing through the entire ice ball. The part she pressed remained intact, while the other half of the ice ball exploded into countless tiny fragments, as if a shotgun had been fired point-blank.
"Be careful! Sigrdrifa!" Eleanor’s warning suddenly resounded.
Sigrdrifa sharply turned around and saw a clump of filthy blood hurtling towards her, violently enveloping her entire body.
