Return to the Day When My Pregnant Wife Jumped Off the Building-Chapter 305 Old Photos and Uncle_1
Chapter 305: Chapter 305 Old Photos and Uncle_1
"Young Master!"
Ye Feihua exclaimed, immediately taking an emergency kit out of a bag on the ground and carefully started to clean and treat the blood and wounds on Ye Jin’an’s hands.
Ye Jin’an remained still, letting her attend to him, his blood-red eyes staring straight ahead as if the person he most wanted to kill in his life was standing right behind Xiao Ming.
"Hello? Chun, are you still at the clubhouse? ... Alright, I’m in the garden’s rockery pavilion right now, send someone with a bottle of good wine... Oh, and chopsticks too, at least four sets."
After hanging up the phone, Xiao Ming put away his cellphone, while Ye Jin’an’s expression had become extremely strange.
"You little rascal, I’m here suffering and dramatic, and even if you don’t regard me as your uncle, you should at least have some normal human compassion, and yet you’re still thinking about drinking? What the hell is that about?"
"Because we haven’t finished eating, but you wasted the wine."
Xiao Ming spoke as if it was only natural, as if the tragedy Ye Jin’an had just described was nothing but meaningless chatter, certainly not comparable to a bottle of good wine.
Ye Jin’an, who had made such a big name for himself by his thirties, wasn’t only good at wooing women. After giving him a narrowed-eye look for a moment, he understood and asked, "Do you suspect that I want to use you as a pawn?"
"It’s not what I believe," Xiao Ming didn’t deny. "It is the fact."
"They are your own family!"
"I don’t know them, never met them, and never once received any favor from them."
A vein throbbed fiercely on Ye Jin’an’s forehead, and he violently pulled his hand back and reached into his neckline.
His hand wound was not small, Ye Feihua was sewing him up, so this sudden tug immediately widened the cut again.
Blood sprayed, staining his neck and chest red, blooming like a cluster of sudden plum blossoms, a shocking sight to see.
Then, he pulled out a palm-sized badge from inside his collar and threw it at Xiao Ming.
Xiao Ming caught it, only to realize it wasn’t a badge but a flat photo box made of red copper, emitting a dim glow under the light due to its old patina.
There was a clasp on the side of the box. He gently pried it open and saw two photographs.
Both photos were in black and white and slightly yellowed with age; one was obviously a family portrait.
In it, a middle-aged couple sat in the front holding a child each, with two young couples and a young girl standing behind them; the young girl was also holding the hand of a boy about four or five years old.
The other photo featured just the two people, the young girl and the little boy from the family portrait.
The girl looked about seventeen or eighteen, with braided pigtails, bright eyes, white teeth, and a radiant smile exuding vitality.
The little boy, however, wore a grumpy expression, apparently disliking how tightly the girl was holding him, but you could tell he was actually very happy.
Xiao Ming could no longer suppress his emotions. His fingers gently caressed the girl’s face in the photo, his nose tingling, and his eyes welling up with tears.
He had never seen his mother looking so young before.
He had asked about it before, and his mother had said they were too poor when she was young to afford photographs.
At the time, he had only felt regret, but now he understood just how painful it must have been for his mother to answer his questions.
A once happy family, a young lady of wealth and nobility, all gone in one night, forced to live in anonymity.
"I never considered the current Ye family as my family." Ye Jin’an’s voice sounded slightly tremulous, "These in the photo, they are my real family."
Xiao Ming exhaled and looked up, "Is this for me?"
"Wishful thinking!"
Ye Jin’an snatched the photo box back, wiped the blood off it on his clothes, put it back around his neck and stuffed it into his collar again, then patted it.
Fortunately, this time Ye Feihua was prepared and let go in time, preventing the wound from being torn open again.
"These two photos are all I have left. As for you, remember to give me some photos of Qing from the past thirty years, the ones without your dad in them."
Xiao Ming raised his eyebrows with a strange expression.
Ye Jin’an immediately noticed, snatched up a barbecue skewer, and tapped him on the forehead, laughing and scolding, "You little scamp, don’t let your mind wander! I just don’t think there’s a man in this world who is worthy of Qing, including Bai Yiran.
If it weren’t for Qing’s family..., your dad wouldn’t have gotten a taste of swan meat in his next lifetime!"
Xiao Ming pursed his lips and didn’t argue with him, just asked, "Are you very familiar with Bai Yiran?"
Ye Jin’an’s face showed undisguised disgust, "His grandfather was a retainer for the Ye Family, and he grew up in the Ye household. He’s an irritating guy.
That night, his grandfather and parents died, and I thought he had too, until I saw him again on the gambling ship.
The old bastard told me he was the only one who Escaped, which had me crying bitterly until I found you a month ago.
Hmph, if I see him again, I’m going to give him a good thrashing."
"You can’t beat him," Xiao Ming said calmly.
Ye Jin’an, taken aback, glared at him, "You little brat, I’m your uncle! Which way is your damned elbow bending?"
"He’s my teacher, and I owe all my skills to him, whereas you showed up intending to take over my assets. I believe the way my elbow is bending is perfectly fine."
Ye Jin’an was speechless, and with a wry smile, glanced at Ye Feihua.
Ye Feihua was bandaging his hand. Seeing the situation, she said to Xiao Li, "The documents in that bag there are for your husband. Could you fetch them, please?"
Xiao Li waited for Xiao Ming’s nod before going over and taking out a folder from the bag.
Xiao Ming took it, opened it, and was stunned at first glance. As he continued to look through it, his expression became more animated.
These documents were actually all stock transfer agreements for Wanhai Investment, with a total share amounting to 71%, which—excluding the portion on the stock market—was practically the same as acquiring the entire Wanhai.
"Let me repeat, I just wanted to test your mettle to see if you’re worthy of knowing the past," Ye Jin’an said grumpily. "These were meant for you all along.
Even if you lost to Guan Qingchang, and the company shares were taken over, including the 40% of Wanhai that Lu Lichun would transfer to Guan Ruiming, it would all end up in your hands eventually. Consider it an uncle’s welcoming gift to you.
Of course, in that case, I wouldn’t invite you for barbecue, and I might not even show up, just keeping a covert watch at most."
Xiao Ming believed his words since two of the agreements already bore Guan Ruiming’s signature—one for the 14% he already owned, and the other for the 40% he had yet to possess.
Most crucially, the buyer’s section in all the agreements was still blank. All he had to do was write down his name, and Wanhai would be his.
With Ye Jin’an vouching, he believed those shareholders selling their stocks wouldn’t dare renege.
At that moment, Lu Lichun walked into the pavilion, followed by several club servers carrying trays.
"Sir, here’s the wine you asked for."
Placing a bottle beside Xiao Ming, she said, "I also took the liberty of having the kitchen prepare a few dishes that you’ve ordered at my restaurant in the past.
Have a taste, and if they’re not to your liking, I can ask them to change."
Lu Lichun had not met Ye Jin’an before, but, with the discernment typical of a miss from an influential family, she could tell from his blood-stained yet dignified presence that he was no ordinary individual, so she spoke softly and submissively, a paragon of demureness.
"Just set them down," Xiao Ming said with a smile. "Also, to introduce, the person sitting across from me is surnamed Ye, Ye Jin’an."
He paused and then, with a slight sigh, continued, "He’s also my uncle."
Almost simultaneously, both Ye Jin’an and Lu Lichun’s eyes widened in surprise.
