Return of the Legendary Runesmith-Chapter 195 - 194- Reunion
Chapter 195: Chapter 194- Reunion
Crash!
Annabelle tripped over an outgrown root and slammed face-first into the dirt, sliding a few meters before coming to a stop.
But she didn’t stay down.
She scrambled up, her face smeared with mud and her knees scraped, yet she kept running.
Not once did she wince. Not once did she look back.
Pain didn’t matter right now.
There was only one thing in her eyes—wild excitement mixed with trembling nerves.
H-her old man...
He remembered.
As impossible as it sounded, it was real.
He remembered everything.
The memories she thought only she carried.
The moments that shaped her.
The nights when they had no one but each other.
The days he carried her through the storm and gave her a reason to live again.
He remembered it all.
H-he...
"Ahh!! I want to see you!" she cried, almost breathless.
She pushed herself harder, weaving between trees, leaping over roots, and ignoring the branches that scratched her skin.
The forest around her stirred with her presence, startled by the whirlwind of a girl tearing through its heart.
Birds flew out of their nests. Small animals scurried into their burrows. The night itself seemed to pull back in fear of her rush.
"I’m coming! Just wait—don’t go anywhere!"
Her heart pounded like a drum, each beat screaming his name.
And in the darkness, she didn’t stop.
She couldn’t stop.
Because for the first time in so long, she wasn’t running away from the past.
She was running towards it.
....
"...So, you remember it all, huh?"
Ruby’s voice was gentle, almost a whisper, and a soft smile curved her lips as she stood before Adrian.
He had just told her the truth—he remembered everything.
The past.
His connection to Annabelle.
All of it.
He hadn’t gone into the details, but the way Ruby quietly absorbed the news, it was clear—Bella had told her about those days long ago.
She already knew.
"I’m sorry," Adrian said, his gaze dropping. "Maybe I should’ve thought this through. My impulsive choice might... put a rift between you two."
He meant it.
Because when Annabelle found out—when she realized he was her old man... and that Ruby had known before her—there was no doubt.
She would be furious.
He could’ve taken a smarter route.
Planned it all more carefully.
Found a way to keep the truth hidden, just a little longer.
But after reliving all those memories—those quiet mornings, those shared silences, those days when the world was cruel but they still had each other—
He couldn’t wait.
Ruby shook her head, "I have seen her staring at the window for hours, saying nothing...waiting and lonely. She is my friend...like a sister. But I was never able to fill that void in her heart."
With a nod, she added, "You did the right thing. She needed you...And I am happy to see that you are equally desperate."
Adrian was feeling conflicted until now, but after hearing her words, he felt better.
Ruby helped him take out the suit as she asked, "Did you tell her where you are?"
He hummed, "I sent her the location, or who knows how long she would have searched for me."
Ruby chuckled, "I can hardly imagine how wildly she was rushing toward us."
Annabelle has been searching for Adrian for the past so many years. Even a single word from him lit up her day.
And now, she could finally see him again.
Adrian stepped away from the suit before turning toward Ruby.
He smiled warmly at the woman as he said, "Thank you, Ruby...if not for your help I would have never met the lost part of me."
Ruby’s heart fluttered at the sight. However, before she could say something, they heard it.
Sensed the person rushing toward them.
Far from them, a huge gust of dry soil erupted, and at an astonishing pace, something was coming towards them.
Adrian turned towards the person, a smile adorning his face as he waited.
And not so long after,
*DHAK*
He was hugged.
He staggered a few steps back and held the girl in his arms.
With her arms and legs completely clasped around his body, Annabelle hugged him as close as possible.
Adrian patted her back gently as he felt her shoulders trembling.
Ruby smiled at the sight. This was the first time she had seen Annabelle crying. And fortunately, those tears weren’t out of grief.
"Sorry for being late...I kept you waiting." He softly whispered.
Annabelle didn’t speak for a long time.
She first slowly parted her face from his shoulder, looking at him with her eyes watery as she said, "You were so close to me yet...I never recognized you."
Adrian shook his head, "It’s not your fault. I had no recollection of our past...so naturally, you couldn’t have recognised me."
Annabelle hugged him again, but this time there was a faint smile on her face.
They remained in each other’s embrace for some time before Adrian finally put her down and asked, "Where were you?"
Annabelle informed him, "Near Valmoran capital." freewebnoveℓ.com
Adrian and Ruby were shocked.
"Anna...you traveled from there on foot?"
Annabelle nodded, a smile blooming on her face, "When I heard he had regained his memories, my mind went blank and I just rushed here."
Ruby shook her head in defeat while Adrian looked at her body.
There were a few injuries, cuts and dirt marks. Undoubtedly, the journey had been rough.
"Hey..." She called out, gathering his attention to her face again, as he heard her saying, "I missed you."
Adrian sighed, his concern overwritten by warmth as he nodded, "I missed you too. Now let’s look at your injuries while we talk.
Annabelle agreed. Until she could stay by side, it won’t matter.
And that would be the case from now on.
She isn’t going let him go~
