Return of the King, Dominating the City-Chapter 1544 - 1529: Greatly Benefited
"What’s up, Qingcheng?" Song Yun asked quietly to the side.
"Why are you lowering your voice? Is it inconvenient? If it’s inconvenient, I’ll hang up."
"No, it’s convenient, go ahead, what is it?"
"Our sect’s business overseas got cut off. I was wondering if you have any influence there to help restore it; after all, it’s quite a bit of money every year," Hua Qingcheng said lazily.
"No problem, leave it to me. Without the sect, there wouldn’t be me now," Song Yun said gallantly. "Anything else?"
"That’s it. I heard you’re back in Sunan today, right?"
"Yeah, yeah, are you here too? Ah, it’s been such a long time, I think you must miss me too, but I’m really busy right now. Sigh, oh well, nothing’s more important than our friendship. I’ll come find you; tell me, is it Qitian or Hanting? Or somewhere else?" Song Yun said sympathetically.
"Get lost, I’m not in Sunan now. Hurry up and sort out the sect business, bye," Hua Qingcheng said peevishly and hung up abruptly, leaving Song Yun rather embarrassed.
Before long, Hua Qingcheng sent the necessary documents to Song Yun’s phone while he was bored playing mahjong with Li Yueyue, flipping through the materials.
Turns out Xia Tian, while on a mission overseas, got entangled by some guy named Richard who was adamant about getting involved with Xia Tian, but was rejected. Later, Richard discovered his family’s business ties with Xia Tian’s backers and threatened Xia Tian with business matters. Xia Tian refused to yield and broke one of Richard’s ribs.
Subsequently, Richard cut off the business ties, causing the sect to lose a substantial amount of money.
And it would have been fine if it were just that, but with the money gone, they could still look for new business partners. However, who would have imagined that Richard’s family, being so influential in the United States, made many people aware of the situation, thus hesitating to cooperate with the sect.
"Rockefeller Family..." Song Yun pondered for a moment and suddenly thought of someone.
Li Baoshi.
It appears that Li Baoshi’s family isn’t getting along with the Rockefeller Family at the moment. During the last credit crisis, Li Baoshi’s family withdrew from the Rockefeller Family and joined the Rothschild Family. It’s said that Li Baoshi’s family has some friction with the Rockefeller Family.
Hence, Song Yun planned to contact Li Baoshi later to see if there might be an opportunity for mutual collaboration.
As the mahjong game neared its end, Song Yun stood up, stretched lazily, and said, "Tomorrow, Xiao Hua is moving out, who wants to come with me?"
"I have to go to class!"
Li Yueyue said, "Just a few days till the holidays, and I’ve recently started a new research class. I want to get a scholarship, so I better not skip it!"
"I have to go to class too. If I flunk this semester, I’ll have to retake the year," Liu Ran said shyly.
"I have to go out tomorrow, so sorry, Senior Brother Song, I can’t make it either," Xiao Qing said, waving her hand.
"I’m free!"
Qingluan smiled and said, "It seems like I’m the only one without plans."
"Sister Qingluan, you better seize the opportunity," Li Yueyue winked playfully at Qingluan, while Liu Ran and Xiao Qing also showed expressions of encouragement.
Seeing this, Song Yun immediately knew that his three lady friends were creating an opportunity for him.
And so, the plan for the next day was settled, with Qingluan accompanying Song Yun to help Xiao Hua move.
The mahjong game didn’t last long after that, and Song Yun could tell that the ladies were merely waiting on him. Mahjong was just a pastime, a way to make time pass faster. Song Yun appreciated the kindness shown to him, and the unspoken understanding among friends was enough; no need to verbalize it.
Song Yun’s first night back home passed smoothly and uneventfully.
The morning was beautiful.
Bright sunshine and gentle breezes.
In Sunan during summertime, it was rare to enjoy such a refreshing morning.
All night long, Song Yun’s mind was filled with laughter from the women in the next room, making the night particularly tough for a man with raging hormones.
As a result, Song Yun woke up quite early the next day.
Breakfast was made by Xiao Qing, simple white rice porridge with a few nutritious dishes, plus Song Yun’s favorite youtiao, which Xiao Qing bought outside.
After breakfast, Li Yueyue and Liu Ran went to school, Xiao Qing went out for errands, and Song Yun drove his long-ignored A6, taking Qingluan to Xiao Hua’s home.
On the way, Song Yun gave Li Baoshi a call, knowing he had a habit of waking up early, which was why Song Yun chose to call him first thing in the morning.
On the other end, Li Baoshi was indeed up, having breakfast.
"You haven’t called me in ages," Li Baoshi chuckled. "Your performance in SH is quite impressive, Song Yun!"
"Of course it is," Song Yun replied with a smile. "What time did you drink till last night?"
"I didn’t drink last night. There was a meeting that lasted till dawn; I’m still energetic today. But, Song Yun, you rarely call me at this hour. Something’s up, right?" Li Baoshi inquired.
"Naturally," Song Yun said, "I wanted to ask you about the Rockefeller Family. How much do you know?"
"Hmm, I know quite a bit. What do you want to know exactly?" Li Baoshi asked.
"I don’t need anything specific. It’s just that someone I’m close to has a conflict with their family, cutting off business ties. Now, he wants to find new partners. Since you guys have issues with the Rockefeller Family, I thought you might be interested in a partnership. You see, if the Rockefeller Family had business ties with my friend, it’s likely because my friend can bring them benefits. If you can get these benefits into your hands, it would be a blow to the Rockefeller Family, right?" Song Yun explained.
"Oh, so your friend’s family wants to break away from the Rockefeller Family, and you want me to step in for collaboration, to prevent the Rockefeller Family’s retaliation. That’s the idea, isn’t it?" Li Baoshi asked.
"That’s the general idea, but let’s not be too blunt. You’d earn money too, wouldn’t you?" Song Yun replied.
"What type of business are they into?" Li Baoshi asked.
"Wine, mid to high-end market," Song Yun answered.
"Wine!!" Li Baoshi paused for a bit, then said, "My main business is jewelry, but wine is often called the ruby of drinks. I could venture into it, but I need to look at its scale to plan positioning. If it’s a small operation, I can throw some orders their way; that’ll keep them busy for a while. If it’s larger, I might think about collaborating to open a new market, maybe Europe and America, perhaps the inland market. Of course, if it’s the inland market, Song Yun, you could join in too. Wine’s profits are notably high; to put it simply, a bottle worth one US Dollar abroad costs at least a hundred yuan domestically. And for mid to high-end wines, profits are unbelievable—wine worth over a hundred US Dollars abroad can sell for tens of thousands here!"
"Let me check," Song Yun hadn’t expected that his casual comment would prompt Li Baoshi to discuss so many aspects. This is the difference with business people, and when they speak, they talk about the global market, the scale, and professionals like him inevitably have big visions.
"Alright, you can give me another call later. I’ll help you contact our family’s economic advisor to develop a plan," Li Baoshi said.
"Okay, no problem," Song Yun grinned. "Talking to you business folks always feels so enlightening, ha ha!"
