Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss-Chapter 564 - 538: Dog Food and Playfulness
The long-lost people passionately embraced, while the director standing by found it awkward whether to speak or not, feeling superfluous by the minute!
Hey, could you spare a thought for the feelings of others? Did you think a glass of juice could bribe me into watching you forcefully show off your affection?!
Though it’s nice to see handsome men and beautiful women showing affection, the program still has to go on, especially when there’s a third party waiting for answers to psychological issues!
"Meiwei... how do you think the show should proceed?" the director was forced to ask.
It was unavoidable; the moment the handsome guy and pretty girl met, they were all over each other. If she didn’t intervene, they’d just keep at it, and the commercial break is only two minutes, not enough to chew each other’s faces off!
"Give me the rundown." Qian let go of Yu Minglang, her gaze lingering sweetly on him for a moment before turning to the director to review his notes during the broadcast for the first time. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"Did anyone call in today to curse a mistress?" Qian asked.
"Yes, line 5 is waiting. Apparently, her husband hooked up with some vixen, who’s now pregnant, and he’s pushing her to divorce. She called crying her heart out, and I had to console her for quite a while."
"Put that line 5 caller through and have her answer the previous listener’s question."
"This..." The director didn’t expect Qian to be this bold. Is this really okay?
Having a distressed mistress and an angry wife face-off on air could make the show a hit.
"All conflicts are based on opposing viewpoints, and our program is about exposing these conflicts. Trust me, it’ll be fine."
Yu Minglang, with one hand in his pocket, slightly tilted his head watching Qian.
She was wearing wide-legged 9/10 pants with fine high heels and a coffee-colored polka-dot blouse with rolled-up sleeves fastened into a five-point style, exuding a professional vibe.
But as Qian’s man, Yu Minglang could see it at a glance.
His fiancée was being mischievous; he was most enchanted by her straight-faced pranks—adventures that went unnoticed by others but that he alone understood.
"So how long should this call be put through?" the director asked Qian.
"Let this original partner curse for 5 minutes, then see if there are any other listeners cursing the mistress or the cheating husband. If not, pick another emotional listener from those waiting and put them through to keep cursing. After venting out their emotions, it’s something of a good deed for us."
"Pfft." Yu Minglang was amused by Qian.
She looked at him, raising an eyebrow—are you really not afraid of messing up the show and getting fired?
Qian shrugged; getting fired was fine, she didn’t even want to do this job anyway.
As per Qian’s instructions, the original partner’s call got through. Having listened to the program while waiting, she was exasperated—
How could the mistress dare to call the radio station and cry to the host? Is there no moral compass anymore?!
Although it wasn’t this mistress who stole her man, the tension between an original partner and a mistress has always been irreconcilable historically. Would you hold back from that?
So for the first time since its launch, the program witnessed an outburst of foul language, as the original partner lost control of her emotions, mixing dialects and shooting off like a machine gun.
"Do you ignore the law’s existence and demand others ignore you as well, you shameless... ××..."
She started cursing without pausing, delivering the insults like they were witty jingles—quite an art.
Qian sipped on the freshly squeezed juice he had bought, listening to the original partner curse for 5 minutes, then signaled the director to switch to the next!
The rest of the time, they put through people who vented one by one, as listeners calling in were definitely holding some grudges; Qian had the director select those emotionally volatile or whose families were destroyed by mistresses, and the atmosphere heated up nicely.
The originally sleepy audience suddenly perked up, wide-eyed to catch the unfolding theatrics.
Where else would you find such an interesting show that opens eyes and broadens horizons?
The rest of the time passed in a series of anti-mistress listener rants, and Qian even dispensed with commentary, elegantly crossing her legs, sipping juice, and exchanging glances through the glass with Yu Minglang.
Almost setting the air on fire through a layer of glass, the poor director was filtering the necessary calls while enduring an intense onslaught of public displays of affection, feeling thoroughly redundant.
Finally, as the show neared its end, the last caller was so engrossed in cursing the mistress, he forgot what question he wanted to ask.
"You young lady, how could you destroy someone else’s family at your age? No matter how flawed his wife is, she’s still the original partner! How dare you say such things on the radio? Think how heartbroken your parents would be hearing about this. If my own daughter acted like you, I—"
"Apologies, sir, but we are nearing the end of our program," Qian interrupted the last caller.
"What! Not allowed to speak anymore? The previous ones cursed for several minutes; I just got started!"
"We welcome your call next time. I understand your sentiments," Qian introduced a segment of music and cut off the call.
With beautiful music, she began her concluding remarks.
"To the listener who called earlier about an ultimatum, I don’t know if you’re still tuning in, or if you heard the suggestions given. I’m not going to make a judgment of right or wrong on your actions. I simply wish to say, your current sorrow is a knife to someone else’s heart. If you love that man, respect his current choice; if you don’t, respect your dignity as a woman. You have freedom of speech, but no one’s freedom should harm others. If you have wronged others, don’t be surprised by the world’s perception of you. Freedom comes with consequences, and I hope you fare well."
Qian delivered her ending speech smoothly, sending listeners on the other side of the radio into a frenzy.
Because of Yu Minglang’s sudden appearance, altering Qian’s thought process and sparking her playful side to create this role-reversal experience, it instantly boosted the show’s ratings—though that’s a story for another time.
For now, Qian didn’t care about the stir she might have caused. If the station manager told her not to come tomorrow, it would be ideal. Turning off the show, she stepped out of the broadcast room like a queen, extending her hand to Yu Minglang, who adeptly took her hand, pulling her into his embrace.
Damn it! More couple tormenting! The little figure in the director’s mind screamed again.
"Wang, I’m heading out first. Thanks for your hard work on today’s program. See you tomorrow." Qian bid farewell to the director, entwined with Yu Minglang as they walked out, never once letting go of each other’s hand.
As she organized the scripts, the director talked to herself, "This is exhausting. A glass of juice from them was overwhelmingly sweet... And how did this handsome guy even get in here?"
It’s such a mystery.
But she still was worried, wondering how to explain to the station manager why the program turned out like this...
