Retired for A Hundred Years: Re-Employment for the Apocalypse Bigshot!-Chapter 295 - 290: All Thanks to You…
Anhe Middle School.
Bai Xiaotang noticed that You Le had been skipping classes recently.
Even the class teacher came to her, hoping she could talk to You Le.
After all, she was one of You Le’s friends and somewhat more reliable than the other two in their group.
After school, Bai Xiaotang asked the driver, Lao Chen, to take her to You Le’s house to catch her.
As soon as she reached the entrance to the alley where her house was, Bai Xiaotang saw You Le sneaking out, wearing a hat and glasses.
Where was she going?
Bai Xiaotang asked the driver, Lao Chen, to stop the car and followed at a distance,
Lao Chen quickly turned off the engine when he saw this, "Miss, I’ll go instead..."
The disguised girl clearly had something going on, possibly something dangerous, but Bai Xiaotang was stubborn, and Uncle Chen couldn’t do much, especially when she looked so pitiful with her baby face, so he just sighed and said, "Miss, follow behind me. If anything looks wrong, run immediately."
"Uncle Chen is the best."
Luckily, it was winter, so Bai Xiaotang wore a down jacket over her school uniform, making her less conspicuous.
Uncle Chen was a retired soldier with strong investigative skills. He quickly went to a nearby convenience store and bought two hats, two pairs of toy glasses, and even got Bai Xiaotang a large bucket of popcorn to cover her face.
The two of them walked, not too close and not too far, behind You Le through three streets.
Although You Le was just a high school student, her keen senses almost caught Bai Xiaotang and Uncle Chen several times.
Fortunately, with Uncle Chen’s experience, they managed to avoid detection.
"Miss, you can’t go any further," Uncle Chen said with a serious look as he watched You Le enter a certain place.
Bai Xiaotang wasn’t completely stubborn and nodded obediently.
You Le had entered a bar where there had been an explosion previously.
The place was dilapidated, with only the outer walls reconstructed by the city office; the buildings inside had not been repaired.
Now it looked as desolate as a haunted house, and people nearby dared not approach, feeling it was unlucky.
Yet, You Le went alone, climbing over the wall into the yard.
She was truly bold.
The damaged walls inside the yard still bore the black ash from the explosion and fire.
There were shards of glass and broken bricks everywhere.
A place long uninhabited seemed eerie even during the day.
"I’m here. You can come out now!" You Le stood in the center of the yard, cautiously surveying her surroundings.
Her senses were highly alert, and she had already detected no less than five people hiding nearby.
As soon as she finished speaking, there was a soft sound of footsteps coming from behind the ruins.
A thin man emerged, wearing a mask that covered half his face, revealing only the other half.
He wore thick clothing covering even his neck.
You Le’s pupils constricted as she looked him over in surprise, asking, "Wang Qiming?"
He wasn’t dead?
He was on the victim list in the news back then.
"Long time no see, You Le..." His hoarse voice sounded like an old smoker’s, making one’s brows furrow.
Wang Qiming used to be a little chubby, ruthless, yet always wore a smile, known as a "smiling tiger."
But now, he was skinny and emaciated, his once-round face sunken, his skin dull, half of his hair turned white; he was just three years older than her, yet he had aged more than twenty years, exuding an aura of impending demise, as if he wouldn’t live much longer.
"How did you become like this?" You Le was shocked.
It had only been two months...
Wang Qiming looked at You Le with hatred; he blamed her for his condition. If she hadn’t been so skeptical and brought the police, he wouldn’t have nearly died in the explosion.
But his face and body were severely burned, and if not rescued, he would have died already.
Now, he lived to make the person in front of him suffer the same pain he endured.
"All thanks to you..."
You Le pressed her lips together, her gaze turning vicious as she looked at Wang Qiming, her fingers unconsciously reaching into her sleeve to grasp the hidden fruit knife.
"What do you plan to do?" You Le asked cautiously.
Wang Qiming’s gaunt face broke into a laugh, his hoarse voice filled with pleasure, "Last time you escaped, but not this time."
"Is that what you all plan?" You Le wasn’t afraid; she turned her gaze towards the dilapidated building behind him.
Because the presence there was even stronger.
"Clap, clap, clap..." The sound of applause suddenly rang from behind Wang Qiming.
Wang Qiming’s smiling face turned slightly cold as he turned to look at the person walking out from the building, suppressing the madness in his eyes, "Sir."
The person addressed as "Sir" turned out to be a sophisticated woman in her thirties, wearing a short brown down jacket on top, wide-leg black pants below, and heeled leather boots on her feet.
She wore sunglasses on her face, had permed wavy hair, and smiled faintly, her lips painted bright red.
She seemed to think highly of You Le, and after clapping, she even warned Wang Qiming, "Xiao Ming, Miss You is my guest; be courteous."
Wang Qiming had a hint of affection in his eyes and submissively lowered his head.
You Le watched the interaction between the two, becoming even more cautious of the woman in front of her.
"Who are you?"
The woman stopped three paces away from You Le, extended her right hand, and smiled, "Hello, You Le, my name is Wan Xiangye, but they all call me Mr. Ye. You can also call me Aunt Ye."
You Le slightly frowned, intuitively sensing this woman was very dangerous. Looking at her outstretched hand, she didn’t reach out and asked cautiously, "Do you know the cause of my parents’ death?"
Wan Xiangye withdrew her hand with a smile, "You know, I was actually classmates with your mom."
"Classmates?"
Wan Xiangye’s smile grew wider, "Yes, I was university classmates with your mom, we even shared a dorm room, and we were very close. After she returned to her hometown to marry and have a daughter, we contacted each other less frequently. However, I attended both your parents’ wedding and your full-month celebration. The gold locket you wore since childhood was my gift to celebrate your full month. I wonder if your mom ever mentioned me."
There was a note of nostalgia in Wan Xiangye’s voice, but the sunglasses on her face concealed her true emotions.
You Le found it hard to discern the truth from her words, and her wariness lessened slightly.
Suddenly, Fu Yuanxuan’s voice whispered in her ear, "Don’t be deceived by her. Ask her, what caused your parents’ death?"
You Le’s rationality kicked back in, and her gaze cleared considerably. She reined in her expression and asked, "What caused my parents’ death?"
Wan Xiangye looked at You Le, who closely resembled her dear friend Le Wuyou, and after a long pause, finally said, "Your parents’ deaths were not accidental, but rather intentional."
You Le’s expression became much more serious.
Wan Xiangye seemed to recall something, her voice carrying suppressed anger, "I was late back then. Many pieces of evidence had been dealt with, leaving no clear direction, but I still found out some things. Your father naturally awakened to his superpower before the accident..."
What?
