Retired for A Hundred Years: Re-Employment for the Apocalypse Bigshot!-Chapter 193: I Only Trust the Loyalty of the Dead
Huang Ying’s body stiffened, especially upon seeing the look in Lin Yuanyang’s eyes. Her expression changed momentarily, her features almost squashing together like a Bao Zi. That lack of aesthetic was thankfully hidden by the night, as Lin Yuanyang hadn’t turned on the light.
Lin Yuanyang rubbed his eyes, as though he saw himself, but upon a closer look, it was Ji Ning and the face-rubbing Huang Ying. His sleepy brain immediately woke up a little, with a hint of surprise in his voice, "Sister Ning, you’re back?"
Ji Ning nodded slightly.
"Have you eaten? I’ll go make dumplings for you."
Without waiting for Ji Ning to reply, he tried to wheel himself into the kitchen to make her a late-night snack.
Huang Ying’s features finally returned to place. She glanced at Ji Ning and teased, "You really are popular. Not even recovered, and already thinking about making you a midnight snack."
Ji Ning’s lips curled upwards as she looked at Huang Ying’s stature, cheerfully reminding, "So short, it’s not good to scare the little kids in the kitchen."
Huang Ying hurriedly adjusted her height again.
By the time Ji Ning finished her bath and came down, three plates of steaming dumplings were already set on the dining table.
Lin Yuanyang sat by the table waiting for her, with no sign of Huang Ying.
"Instructor Ying went back to sleep after cooking the dumplings."
Ji Ning nodded slightly, "Aren’t you going to sleep?"
Lin Yuanyang adjusted his glasses, "I’m not sleepy."
Ji Ning picked up a bowl and asked, "Aren’t you eating?"
Lin Yuanyang shook his head. Ji Ning didn’t press further, picking up dumplings and starting to eat.
She was really hungry, devouring almost a dumpling per bite, swiftly finishing off the three plates.
Lin Yuanyang watched her enjoy the food, not interrupting, and quietly waited for her to finish.
"Is there something you want?"
Ji Ning wiped her mouth and looked up to ask him.
Lin Yuanyang gathered his expression, sitting up straight, "Sister Ning, Sun Chengen is always vengeful. This time you made the Sun Family suffer a silent loss. He surely won’t let it go. Even if he can’t act against you directly, he will definitely target Sister Xiaotong in private."
"Hmm, they wouldn’t dare."
Lin Yuanyang still didn’t know about the 30 plus needles embedded in Sun Liguo’s body. If Sun Chengen dared to retaliate, she had plenty of ways to torment Sun Liguo.
An eye for an eye...
Seeing Ji Ning wasn’t taking it seriously, Lin Yuanyang immediately brought out the information he’d recently gathered for Ji Ning to see.
"These are some old documents about the Sun Family that I’ve come across recently. Take a look. Many incidents related to the Sun Family ended up unresolved."
Ji Ning initially glanced indifferently, but when she saw a certain photo, she suddenly paused, "Wait a minute."
Lin Yuanyang hit pause.
"Go back."
Lin Yuanyang slowly rewound until Ji Ning said, "Stop."
The page halted on a photo.
It was a photo of a family of three.
The parents were quite young, holding a baby less than two years old.
Lin Yuanyang was somewhat confused; wasn’t this just an ordinary family photo?
"Sister Ning, what’s wrong?"
"Do you know who this couple is?"
"Who?"
"They are You Le’s parents. I’ve seen this photo at her house."
Lin Yuanyang was taken aback, carefully examining the photo again, and upon recalling You Le’s appearance, she did resemble them somewhat.
You Le’s eyes were almost identical to her mother’s.
Lin Yuanyang scrutinized the case report again.
The case occurred ten years ago when the Sun Family was constructing the Sea City Seven Star Hotel, which resulted in a fatality, later left unresolved. The deceased in the case were You Le’s parents.
You Le’s father, as the person in charge of the whole project, was forced to jump from the unfinished hotel rooftop due to unpaid workers’ wages.
You Le’s mother fell ill upon hearing the news and committed suicide by overdosing a few days later in the hospital.
The content Lin Yuanyang found was merely a vague report, with no specific details written.
There seemed to be another side to the story.
Lin Yuanyang didn’t believe the Sun Family was innocent in the whole case, so You Le’s parents were probably used as scapegoats by the Sun Family.
"Sister Ning, you see, although all the responsibility was placed on You Le’s father in this case, to delve deeper, You Le’s father’s position wasn’t in charge of disbursing funds. As the company’s party B, if party A doesn’t pay, there’s no way for party B to pay their employees. And after this suicide, the Sun Family came out to allocate funds to pacify the workers by paying their wages. But I don’t believe they would be so kind. So, Sister Ning, you must be careful of the Sun Family."
Ji Ning nodded slightly.
Seeing Ji Ning listened this time, Lin Yuanyang felt relieved, now feeling a wave of fatigue, he yawned.
"Sister Ning, I’m going to sleep."
Ji Ning nodded again, "Send me the collected information."
***
High-end villa.
The urgent vibration of a phone shook the man in bed into a fiery rage.
Reaching out to feel, he finally pressed the answer key, with a low and oppressive tone, "Idiot! You better have something urgent, or I’ll send you to feed the mutant sharks in the ocean immediately."
"Sir, news from Hua Continent, there’s a development at Jiuming Mountain."
"What?"
The man’s eyes instantaneously opened wide as he sat up in bed.
His emerald-green pupils were dyed with a hint of astonishment, followed by delight: "Are you sure?"
"Positive."
"Hahaha... you’ve finally come!"
The man laughed out loud, quickly standing up from the bed, his well-built body radiating a sinister power from top to bottom.
A woman awakened on the bed glanced at him and whistled, "Sir, you were really something last night!"
The man, in a good mood, looked back at the blonde woman on the bed and smiled, "Darling, you were amazing too. Would you be willing to serve me forever?"
The woman beamed with joy.
Being noticed by this powerful man was definitely her luck, "I’m willing, Mr. Qiao. I’m willing to give you everything of mine. Even my life!"
The smile on the man’s face grew deeper as he leaned over, gently stroking the woman’s golden hair, his fingertips sliding along her beautiful face towards her neck.
The woman slightly raised her head, a look of enjoyment spread across her face, as docile as a little cat.
Suddenly, the same hand that caressed her the night before gripped her throat with immense force, so strong that she lost strength before she could open her eyes in astonishment.
The man continued to smile, touching the now lifeless face, and spoke gently as if to a lover, "I’m sorry, dear. I only trust the loyalty of the dead. May the Lord bless you to that beautiful place."
The man straightened up, casually throwing on clothes from nearby, lighting a cigarette as he exited the bedroom.
The attendant waiting outside came in immediately to skillfully handle the woman on the bed.
"Sir, did something good happen?" His ever-serving butler approached respectfully, ready to assist the man in dressing.
The man smiled, his emerald eyes sparkling like gems, "Charles, you really have an eye for things. Indeed, there is good news."
Charles didn’t interrupt him, as the man continued, "An old friend of mine has finally come! Do you think I should meet her?"
Without hesitation, Charles replied, "If this old friend has a pleasant relationship with you, sir, then such a meeting would be a delightful experience."
The man chuckled, saying nothing more. As Charles held up the nearby body-mirror, the man suddenly asked, "Do you think she will still recognize me?"
