Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 90: His Mind is Full of Her...
Leona Grant braced his arms on the railing, his face expressionless as he gazed at the dazzling, neon-lit cityscape of Lynton across the water. Inside, however, he was so agitated he felt like he might explode.
’He didn’t even know what was wrong with him. It was like he was obsessed, his mind constantly occupied with thoughts of Annabelle Linton.’
’He was always wondering how her injuries were, what exactly had been going on with her lately, whether she really wanted to divorce him... Her... Ugh.’
’In short, she was all he could think about...’
He had been the one taking care of her these past few days, so he knew the full extent of her injuries. But whenever he remembered that he was the one who’d inflicted them, he was once again at a loss for words.
Ever since she changed, he found himself drawn to her at every moment. This was especially true after he learned what she had endured for him—how she had nearly died several times. The knowledge only made him more frustrated.
Today, she’d told him she wouldn’t dwell on the past anymore, but only because she no longer cared.
Leona Grant was unbearably frustrated, yet he couldn’t find any way to vent.
’Annabelle Linton, what in the world have you done to me!’
Leona Grant took a harsh drag from his cigarette. Suddenly, his gaze landed on a couple not far away.
A young man grabbed a young woman’s arm, his face a mask of desperation. "Raine, I know I was wrong. Please forgive me, okay? Let’s start over. From now on, I’ll only ever love you. I’ll never leave you or abandon you again. I’ll marry you. Please don’t leave me, alright?"
The young woman’s expression was icy. "There’s no going back for us. From now on, if we see each other, let’s just act like strangers. Is there anything else?"
"Raine, I know I was wrong. I really do. I’m begging you, please don’t be like this with me, okay?"
The young man was so distraught he started to cry. "I’m sorry. I know I’ve done so many terrible things, and I know I hurt you. I’m not making any excuses for myself. I’m just begging you to give me one chance. Just one, that’s all I ask. I can’t live without you. I can’t lose you. Don’t go. Please stay, okay?"
"Don’t go?" The young woman’s voice was laced with nonchalance. "Caleb Collins, if I’m not mistaken, this is the fifteenth time you’ve given me this speech, isn’t it? You can’t forget me? Maybe if you cheat a few more times, you will. The only reason I agreed to see you today was so you’d stop bothering me for good. Don’t come looking for me again. I don’t love you anymore. Besides, I have a husband now. So do whatever you want, just leave me out of it. Got it?"
The young man’s expression crumbled. He pulled the woman into a desperate hug. "Please don’t lie to me like this, okay? I know I was wrong. Come back. Come back to me, please? Have you forgotten everything we had? We grew up together! You said you would only ever be my bride! You loved me so much, you said you couldn’t live without me! Why are you doing this to me now?
I know I wronged you before! I swear—I swear I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you! Please, just forgive me, okay?"
The young woman struggled desperately, but he only held on tighter. After a moment, she stopped fighting and said flatly, "I’m going to tell you this one last time. I’m married. I have a husband. Believe it or not."
"You’re lying! You’re lying to me! You said you would only ever marry me! You said you couldn’t leave me! Why? Why are you saying these things to hurt me?! Raine, please don’t do this. I’m begging you. I’m begging you, don’t go, please?"
Just as the young man finished speaking, a fist flew toward his face, knocking him to the ground.
Another tall, imposing man wrapped a possessive arm around the young woman. He looked down coldly at the man on the ground and said, "Sir, you’d better watch yourself. My wife isn’t someone just anyone can put their hands on. If there’s a next time, I’ll break your arm."
