Chapter 75: Chapter 75: She Was Now Absolutely Certain That This Bastard Was Here to Stir Up Trouble

The three of them gazed intently at Annabelle Linton, feeling a faint, bittersweet mix of admiration and relief.

She could have had a much easier life, yet she chose to build the one she wanted with her own two hands.

It was the first time they had seen someone her age who was so easily content, yet so responsible when it came to her life and her love.

Roxanne Jennings realized she was beginning to admire Annabelle Linton more and more.

Leona Grant was also stunned for a moment when he heard Annabelle Linton’s words.

Her optimism and bright disposition inspired a deep sense of admiration in him.

But that admiration soured the moment he heard her mention going abroad.

’Why did it have to be abroad?’

’And why a foreign country where she knew so many people?’

Speaking of acquaintances, the first person Leona Grant thought of was the one Ashley Grant had mentioned—the "Aaron" who had been Annabelle Linton’s roommate.

He had already investigated him. The young man’s name was Aaron Wyatt. He was an orphan, adopted at the age of five by a couple from Albion. His English name was Rainer.

They had met while working part-time jobs and had lived together abroad for four years.

The thought of this woman living with another man behind his back for four years ignited a raging inferno in his heart!

His face dark with fury, Leona Grant kicked open the partially closed door. "For the Grant Family’s sake? Divorcing me to guarantee you won’t be a bother? Annabelle Linton, what a truly selfless spirit!"

He glared coldly at Annabelle Linton, yanking her roughly up from the floor. "You keep saying this is for the Grant Family’s sake, but have you ever considered what people will say? That I divorced you the moment the Linton Family went bankrupt?

Will they say that I, Leona Grant, am a heartless, disloyal man? That the Grant Family has been surviving by leeching off the Linton Group all along? That the second the Linton Group collapsed, we kicked you—our now-useless burden—to the curb? Or will they say the Grant Family is a place that devours people whole, a place so awful that you’d rather be bankrupt and take on manual labor than remain as the Young Madam of the Grant Family?"

Annabelle Linton’s head swam as he flung her onto the sofa.

She glared at him, incensed. "Our marriage for the past two years has been no different from a divorce anyway! If you don’t say anything and I don’t say anything, how is anyone going to find out?"

Leona Grant scoffed. "Well, I hate to break it to you, but secrets have a way of getting out. I can’t allow any volatile element that might harm the Grant Family’s interests to fester. If word of this gets out and destabilizes the stock market, who’s going to take responsibility?

Or, if you think you can go on living like a hermit after we divorce, never leaving the house or interacting with a single soul, then fine! Let’s do it! As long as you don’t cuckold me or cause me any other losses, we can go get divorced right now!"

Annabelle Linton trembled with rage!

’On what grounds?’

’On what grounds?!’

’Why should she have to consider his interests even after they’re divorced?’

’If she couldn’t interact with anyone, how was she supposed to live abroad?’

Annabelle Linton was now absolutely certain: this bastard was here to cause trouble!

Patrick Grant glanced at his grandson’s shameless display, a flicker of amusement in his shrewd eyes.

"Even a short marriage creates a lasting bond. You’re a young couple; you shouldn’t jump to divorce every time you argue. Marriage is a lifelong commitment, and it involves both of you. As your elders, we can only offer advice on whether you should divorce or not. Ultimately, it’s up to the two of you. You should both think it over very carefully."

After he finished speaking, Patrick Grant stood up and headed for the door.

Annabelle Linton panicked when she saw Grandpa leaving.
