Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 33: Annabelle Must Hate Me So Much Right Now
In a society of indifferent bystanders, no one was willing to help such a vulnerable person.
A large crowd had gathered around. Some cast an unconcerned glance before walking away, while others stood by, watching the scene as if it were a show. Some even took out their phones to take pictures.
But no one helped him up.
The man could only struggle desperately. Under the scorching sun, his movements grew slower and slower, as if he were running out of strength.
Annabelle Linton frowned, bought a bottle of water nearby, and went over to help the man up.
The man seemed stunned for a moment before using Annabelle’s support to get to his feet.
Annabelle helped him remove the mascot head, revealing a young man in his twenties.
Sweat poured from his head, and his face was beet red from the struggle.
"Thank you... HUFF... thank you..." the young man managed to say, his breathing ragged.
Annabelle offered a faint smile, took a tissue from her bag, and helped him wipe away the sweat. "It’s good to work hard, but you also need to take care of yourself. Standing out here for so long can give you heatstroke."
The young man nodded, touched.
Since his movements were restricted, Annabelle helped him drink some water as well.
Seeing that the spectacle was over, the crowd began to disperse in twos and threes.
Annabelle turned, and her smiling eyes met Leona Grant’s.
Those eyes were gentle and serene, as if brimming with an affection so profound one could drown in their depths and die a thousand deaths without regret.
Their eyes met.
Leona Grant stared at her, unblinking, his deep eyes filled with undisguised curiosity and scrutiny.
Beside him stood the beautifully smiling Vivian Yates, clinging affectionately to his arm.
She wore a white dress, looking like an angel newly fallen to the mortal realm. She, too, was staring intently at her.
’This woman... I haven’t seen her since I woke up.’
’Even though she hasn’t done anything yet, I already hate her.’
’No, I *hate* her.’
’Thinking of my tragic death in my last life makes my heart ache with anger.’ 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Annabelle’s hands at her sides clenched unconsciously. The faint smile on her face vanished, and a chill spread from her heart through her entire body.
After only a second’s pause, she turned and walked away to the left as if nothing had happened.
"Annabelle..."
Vivian’s delicate voice called out from behind her, but Annabelle kept walking as if she hadn’t heard a thing.
Vivian bit her lip and looked toward Leona Grant, her voice full of grievance as she called out to him, "Leona..."
Leona also acted as if he hadn’t heard, his gaze complex as he stared in the direction Annabelle had gone.
’She seems to really hate me...’
A vicious glint suddenly flashed through Vivian’s eyes.
’From the moment he spotted Annabelle, his eyes haven’t left her.’
’I’ve already looked into it. Once his parents visit tomorrow, they’ll get divorced. She’s about to be nothing more than a stranger to him, so what’s there for him to hold on to?’
’But he’s still looking at her now!’
"Leona, do you think Annabelle is still upset about what happened the other day?"
Vivian’s eyes grew red as she looked at him, looking as if she were on the verge of tears. "I swear, I didn’t do it on purpose. I never thought Annabelle would suddenly show up right as I fell, or that the timing would be so coincidental that it would make you misunderstand her... What am I going to do? Annabelle must hate me so much now..."
Leona lowered his gaze at her words.
’Hate?’
’She became completely disheartened with me because of that incident. How could she possibly like Vivian, who was at the center of it?’
’I’m afraid the very sight of the two of us together probably disgusts her now!’
