Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 128: I Don’t Want You to Find Just Any Man to Get Back at Me
"Oh." Annabelle Linton seemed unconcerned. "Now you can tell me what you really meant by that text message."
A slight smile touched Chase Lynch’s lips. "As for what it means," he said with calm elegance, "don’t you already know?"
Annabelle Linton narrowed her eyes. "You’re not the one who acquired the Linton Group, are you?"
"Heh."
Chase Lynch set down the knife and fork he was using to cut his steak and smiled warmly. "Just as you suspected. Your guess is correct. I know what you want, Annabelle Linton. I’d like to make a deal with you. I wonder if you’ll agree?"
Annabelle Linton watched him with an expressionless face, saying nothing. It was impossible to read her emotions.
Chase Lynch smiled again. "Be my girlfriend, and I’ll solve all your problems and help you get everything you want. Will you take this deal?"
At his words, Annabelle Linton’s expression didn’t so much as flicker.
Her expression cold, she grabbed her bag and stood. Without a second thought, she headed for the door and said without looking back, "Sorry, not interested. Find someone else."
A flicker of shock crossed Chase Lynch’s eyes. He stared in astonishment as Annabelle Linton coolly paid her bill and walked out of the restaurant.
Just as Annabelle Linton stepped out of the restaurant, she saw Leona Grant leaning against the fountain by the entrance, smoking a cigarette.
Tendrils of pale smoke swirled around his chiseled features, half-shrouding his face in shadow. A gentle breeze drifted by, softening the severe lines of his handsome face and lending him a surreal, dreamlike quality.
Annabelle Linton paused for a few seconds, then, as if she hadn’t seen him, walked straight past, circling around the other side of the fountain.
"Annabelle Linton."
Leona Grant’s tall figure appeared before her, blocking her path. He lowered his head, looking down at Annabelle Linton intently. "Annabelle Linton, there’s no need for this."
Annabelle Linton gave him a cold look, remaining silent.
Leona Grant pursed his lips and said in a deep voice, "Chase Lynch is a complicated man. You didn’t know him at all before, but now he’s actively pursuing you. He must have some ulterior motive. I don’t want you to use some random man just to get revenge on me. That’s incredibly irresponsible of you."
After their last awkward encounter, Leona Grant didn’t question Annabelle Linton directly this time.
Of course, he also hoped that she was doing it to get back at him.
’I’m going crazy.’
When Leona Grant realized what he was thinking, his heart was in turmoil.
Hearing this, a faint smile touched Annabelle Linton’s lips.
’Revenge?’
’Hilarious. Utterly absurd!’
It was as if Annabelle Linton had just heard the biggest joke in the world.
Her eyes filled with an unshakable mockery. Annabelle Linton skipped over the topic and let out a low laugh. "No one is ever simple, Young Master Grant. Are you? Is that Vivian Yates at your side so simple?"
"What does Vivian Yates have to do with this!" Leona Grant didn’t know what came over him, but hearing her call him Young Master Grant sent an inexplicable wave of anger through him.
The mockery in Annabelle Linton’s eyes deepened. "Fine, I was wrong. She’s the kindest person in the world, the most innocent of all. Happy now? If you are, then do me a favor and get out of my way."
That wasn’t what Leona Grant meant; he just didn’t want to drag other people into their arguments. ’Why does this woman have to misunderstand me again and again?!’
Frustrated, Leona Grant yelled at Annabelle Linton, "Annabelle Linton, why do you have to go against me time and time again! We were once husband and wife! No matter what happened between us or what our relationship is now, I don’t want you to suffer because of me! Do you understand that or not!"
