Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 382 - 380: Well Done, Reward You with a Chicken Leg
Xue Yang was still unaware of this matter; he and Lin Xi had just arrived at the outdoor barbecue venue.
Wu Xiaoya’s efficiency was increasingly impressive. In just two hours, she had organized everything perfectly and even decorated the venue, giving it a festive vibe. The July weather was hot, but cooling systems had been set up, and a refreshing breeze washed over them the moment they stepped inside. All in all, it was quite well done; Wu Xiaoya’s skills were clearly becoming more professional.
"Boss, Madam, you’re here?" Seeing Xue Yang and Lin Xi arrive, Wu Xiaoya immediately dropped what she was doing and ran over.
Looking at Lin Xi, Wu Xiaoya was once again stunned. Although Lin Xi wore the same clothes and her hairstyle was unchanged, the impression she gave off had somehow transformed with the passing of time. It was different from her breathtaking beauty during the day. Standing under the setting sun, she seemed bathed in a golden radiance, as graceful as poetry. The evening glow on her smiling face made her even more captivating, like a goddess stepping out of a classical painting, inspiring a deep sense of longing in all who saw her.
Seriously, with a girlfriend like this, who would even look at another woman?
The others had the same reaction as Wu Xiaoya. Those who had never even seen a photo of Lin Xi were completely dumbstruck.
Oh my god, it was like they were seeing a fairy descend from the heavens.
"Not bad," Xue Yang said. "You’ve made the place look quite presentable. You get another chicken leg as a reward."
"Thank you, Boss! Boss, can I have one more? They have salt-baked chicken legs, and they look so fragrant. They must be even more amazing when grilled." As she spoke of the salt-baked chicken, Wu Xiaoya subconsciously swallowed.
Xue Yang raised his eyebrows slightly. Salt-baked chicken legs? Looks like there’s someone from my hometown on the team.
He didn’t refuse her outright. Instead, he said, "Your boss’s wife loves to snack on chicken legs, and she especially likes the salt-baked ones."
She turned to Lin Xi with a look of anticipation. "Madam, may I have one more?"
"Of course. We’ll eat together later."
Lin Xi’s smile was like a blooming flower, one that could melt hearts and irresistibly draw people closer.
"Madam, you’re so kind! Boss, even as a woman, I’m a little jealous. How did you find such an amazing girlfriend?"
Xue Yang arched an eyebrow, acknowledging her good taste.
"Boss, Madam, why don’t you two go rest over there for a bit? I’m about to take some people to pick up the milk tea. The others are on their way, and we can start soon."
Xue Yang nodded and led Lin Xi toward the air-conditioned lounge. The moment they stepped inside, the oppressive heat from outdoors instantly vanished.
"Indeed, this is a place fit for humans."
You really shouldn’t get too pampered. Once you get used to something, it becomes a habit. Take me, for example. I’m so used to air conditioning now that I feel completely out of sorts without it.
Although Lin Xi was also hot, she kept a constant smile on her face as she found a trash can to throw away her empty milk tea cup. It was her first time at a barbecue like this, and she was visibly intrigued.
"Xue Yang, I’m going to go outside and see how they do the barbecue."
"Be careful."
"I’m not a three-year-old. Besides, Auntie Shen has made barbecue for me before. I’m just curious if what you all eat is the same as what I’ve had."
"Go ahead."
Lin Xi skipped out of the lounge, visibly overjoyed. She was happy she could finally be a part of Xue Yang’s life, no longer just the pitiful little girl who could only wait at home for him to return. Most importantly, the fact that Xue Yang brought her to meet people from his company proved that he truly held a place in his heart. Isn’t that what they say? When a man brings you into his circle, it means your place in his heart is unshakable. This thought made Lin Xi even more cheerful.
When the others saw the boss’s wife come out to have a look, they all tensed up.
"Don’t be nervous," Lin Xi said. "I’m just curious how to barbecue. I’ve only ever had the kind Auntie Shen makes; I’ve never tried any other kind."
Auntie Shen? So the boss’s wife grew up in someone else’s home? How pitiful.
Lin Xi was beautiful, and now that everyone assumed she’d had a difficult childhood, they felt great sympathy for her. They immediately began to enthusiastically explain everything to her, even teaching her how to grill.
Sitting in the lounge, Xue Yang had a clear view of everything happening outside. He watched Lin Xi chat with everyone and then try her hand at grilling, clearly having a blast and fitting in even better than he, the boss, did. Looks like I underestimated Xiao Naimao’s social skills. She blended in with everyone so quickly. He had been worried that bringing her to a company event would make her uncomfortable, but he now saw there was no need for that.
Half an hour later, Wu Xiaoya returned with her team and the milk tea. She brought a cup in for Xue Yang.
"Boss, I heard you bought the milk tea shop."
"Mhm."
It wasn’t a secret, and Xue Yang had no intention of hiding it. The milk tea shop would remain open, and it needed customers.
"So, will the milk tea shop stay open?"
Xue Yang looked up at her. "What are you getting at?"
Wu Xiaoya chuckled and pointed at the cup on the table. "Boss, this new flavor is delicious."
"Your boss’s wife is the owner of the milk tea shop. If you want it to stay open, you can ask her."
"Other guys give flowers or jewelry when they’re dating, but you give a whole milk tea shop. That’s so you, Boss. I’ll just leave this here. I’m going to find the Madam now." She’d asked the boss about two things today, and both times he told her to ask the Madam. Wu Xiaoya got the message: winning over the Madam was the same as winning over the boss. And how hard could it be to win her over? She’s so friendly and approachable. If I just ask nicely, I’m sure she’ll agree. The boss usually seems so dense, but he’s actually very thoughtful. Telling me to ask the Madam more often... isn’t that just a roundabout way of telling me to take good care of her? So concerned, yet so subtle about it... The boss might not be clueless, but he’s certainly the quietly sly type.
Wu Xiaoya found Lin Xi in the crowd and ran over with a cup of milk tea.
"Madam, have some milk tea."
Lin Xi was feeling parched, so when Wu Xiaoya handed her the drink, she said gratefully, "Thank you, I was just getting thirsty."
"We’re the ones who should be thanking you, Madam. The boss said this milk tea is your treat for all of us."
Lin Xi blinked in surprise. "Xue Yang said that?"
"He did. The boss said the milk tea shop belongs to you, Madam, so it’s only natural that the drinks are a treat from you, right?"
Hearing this, everyone else raised their cups to thank her. "Thanks for the milk tea, Madam!"
That Xue Yang... he was the one who bought the shop, and it was his idea to buy the drinks, yet he gave all the credit to me.
Just as Lin Xi was about to speak, Wu Xiaoya leaned in and asked, "Madam, this milk tea shop of yours will stay open, right?"
"Huh? Yes, it will. Why do you ask?" Lin Xi asked, puzzled.
"Oh, nothing. I was just asking. As long as it’s staying open, that’s great! Thank you, Madam."
