Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 359 - 357: Remember to Go Home
After asking the question, Lin Xi’s heart leaped into her throat. I’m so afraid Dad will break his promise again. He’s done it plenty of times before, hasn’t he? Even though I’m used to it, I still hope he’ll keep his word this time.
"Mhm."
Hearing this response, Lin Xi was stunned for a moment before she was overcome with joy. "Thank you, Dad. Dad, I love you!"
This time, it was Lin Zhenhai’s turn to be stunned. How long had it been since he had heard his daughter say those words? He clearly remembered when she was little, Lin Xi loved to tell him in her sweet, childish voice, "Dad, I love you. Dad, when I grow up, I’ll definitely take good care of you..." As Lin Xi grew older and more rebellious, he thought he would never hear that sentence again. He couldn’t believe he was hearing it now.
"Remember to come home," he said.
Lin Xi’s eyes curved into crescents. "I will, Dad. I’ll come home often."
After hanging up, Lin Xi started packing her things. What should I bring? Skincare products are a must. A change of clothes is secondary, since Xue Yang has a room almost full of my clothes anyway. Her gaze drifted toward the cabinet dedicated to her lingerie. Maybe I should just bring all of these.
"Young Miss, let me help you pack," Auntie Shen said from behind her. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Lin Xi smiled sweetly. "Okay."
Seeing the Young Miss regain her usual radiance made Auntie Shen genuinely happy. Nothing was more important than her happiness. With Auntie Shen’s help, Lin Xi’s things were packed in no time.
Xue Yang was already waiting at the villa’s entrance. He sat in the driver’s seat with his hands resting on the steering wheel. He had come to this spot many times before. Whenever the pressure became too much, he would drive here, feeling as though just being near Lin Xi could make his stress dissipate. It had always worked, which was one of the reasons he loved coming here.
More than an hour had passed since he sent the message. Lin Xi hadn’t replied or come out of the villa. All he could do was wait patiently.
He occasionally looked up at the sky. It was clear and cloudless, with a few birds streaking past, leaving trails of cheerful chirps. Xue Yang smiled slightly. It seems even the birds know something good is happening today.
Just as he was thinking this, Lin Xi’s sweet voice called out from the villa. "Xue Yang~"
Xue Yang glanced over and saw a sky-blue figure dart out from inside. His body moved before his mind could catch up. In the next instant, he had pushed open the car door and was striding toward the elf-like girl with his arms wide open.
"Xue Yang! I missed you so much!"
Lin Xi rushed toward him and expertly leaped into his arms. Her legs wrapped tightly around his waist and her arms circled his neck, her soft body pressing against his. Xue Yang instinctively supported her, his hands cupping her pert bottom. The two embraced at the villa entrance as if no one else in the world existed.
This time, they could finally embrace without hiding.
Auntie Shen and Uncle He stood a short distance away, each holding two suitcases, careful not to interrupt the young couple.
"The Young Miss is finally smiling again," Uncle He said, his voice full of emotion. "Lately, even though she’s been at the villa, her heart has been somewhere else entirely. She was like a soulless husk. It was painful to see."
Besides the two suitcases, Auntie Shen was also holding another bag. Hearing Uncle He’s words, she said, "That’s right. The Young Miss has had it rough. I hope Xue Yang doesn’t let her down."
Uncle He scoffed. "Our Young Miss is such a wonderful girl. If he dares to let her down, I’ll be the first to give him a piece of my mind."
...
The young couple held each other for a long time before finally letting go.
"By the way, I made you some soup." With that, Lin Xi darted back toward the villa, took a bag from Auntie Shen, and ran back to Xue Yang.
She was wearing a sapphire-blue, knee-length dress with a matching pair of crystal princess shoes. Her long hair was tied up in a high ponytail with a sapphire-blue ribbon, tied into a playful bow. She looked mysterious and dreamy, like a true elf who had descended to the mortal realm.
Lin Xi and Xue Yang sat on a bench by the road. She took a pink thermos from the bag and opened it. The thermos had four stacking compartments. Each layer held a different dish, with the chicken soup at the very bottom. As soon as she opened it, a delicious aroma wafted out, and Xue Yang’s appetite was instantly stirred.
It was lunchtime, and Xue Yang was starving. He had skipped breakfast, coming over to pick up Lin Xi right after waking up.
Lin Xi handed Xue Yang a pair of chopsticks. "I knew you’d be hungry. Go on, eat."
Xue Yang gently patted Lin Xi’s soft hair. My girl is always so thoughtful. How could I not love her?
Xue Yang took the chopsticks with both hands. "Thank you," he said.
"Don’t thank me. You’re my boyfriend, aren’t you? It would break my heart if you starved."
Xue Yang picked up a piece of fish and put it in his mouth. The meat was fresh and firm without the slightest hint of a fishy taste. It was simply the best fish he had ever eaten.
"This fish..."
Lin Xi watched him with shining eyes, waiting expectantly for his verdict.
"You didn’t catch this fish yourself, did you?" Xue Yang asked. He remembered her mentioning that she had been going fishing every day to pass the time.
"I did! I fished for ages before I finally got a bite. This was the very first one, so I saved it for you. Do you notice anything else about it?" Lin Xi’s eyes shimmered with anticipation as she looked at him.
Xue Yang finished off the rest of the fish with his chopsticks.
The sparkle in Lin Xi’s eyes began to dim. Can’t he tell? I practiced for so long...
"Your cooking skills are pretty good," Xue Yang said suddenly from above her.
Lin Xi’s eyes instantly lit up again. "Really?"
"Of course. When have I ever lied to you?"
Lin Xi’s eyes curved into crescents. "I practiced for so long. I think I’ve finally learned about a third of Auntie Shen’s skills."
"It’s excellent," Xue Yang praised sincerely. "This is the most delicious meal I’ve had in a long time."
"Hee hee."
Suddenly, Lin Xi felt that all the hardship and waiting she had endured recently didn’t seem like such a big deal anymore. It was all worth it.
Xue Yang was ravenous, so he polished off all the food in short order, right down to the last drop of the delicious chicken soup.
Seeing Xue Yang devour the food as if he were a refugee, a comment Si Wen once made popped into Lin Xi’s head: "Your boyfriend eats like a starving ghost." It was precisely because of that remark that she had resolved to learn how to cook. Before, when she hadn’t seen it with her own eyes, it didn’t seem so bad. But now, witnessing it firsthand, Lin Xi felt her heart ache for him.
"You haven’t cooked for yourself in a long time, have you?"
While cleaning up the containers, Xue Yang replied, "I’ve been too busy. I usually just order takeout whenever I’m hungry." From the tone of his voice, it was clear he hadn’t quite had his fill.
