Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 347 - 345: Lin Xi Gets Angry
Xiang Xiaolong patted Wang Yiran on the back, not knowing how to comfort him. He had originally planned to confess to Si Wen over the broadcast while Wang Yiran was making his own confession. But now that Xue Yang had beaten him to it, any further broadcast confessions would just be a clumsy imitation, making him a laughingstock.
It was a stroke of luck that Xue Yang had gone first. After all, there was a huge difference between singing a song yourself and just playing a recording. In comparison, they seemed more like clowns.
The girl in the broadcast room was still processing what had just transpired. From the moment Xue Yang entered, to him singing, to Lin Xi arriving, to the two of them embracing, and finally to them leaving hand in hand, it all played out before she could react.
Was I... just force-fed a dose of public affection? But why... do I not hate it?
She had always been allergic to such displays. What could be the reason?
Could it be true love? Come on, what century is this? How could true love possibly exist! Still, that boy was seriously handsome, like a celebrity. No, more like a Prince greeting his Princess. He didn’t look out of place next to the Young Miss at all. They were a match made in heaven. So how could anyone find a display of affection like that annoying?
* * *
In the classroom, the homeroom teacher made a few brief announcements and left. The graduation speeches had already been given before the college entrance exams. Now that the tests were over, there was no need to be long-winded. Any more would have been overbearing.
As soon as the homeroom teacher left, the classroom erupted with excitement again.
"Why did the broadcast stop? I wanted to hear the Young Miss’s voice again."
"I know, right? I never expected the Young Miss to have such an adorable side. It completely shattered my image of her."
When Lin Xi first arrived at the school, she had been very rebellious. Her favorite pastime was doing the exact opposite of whatever the teachers instructed. Her grades were a complete mess. But after disappearing for a semester during her senior year, she returned like a completely different person. She no longer defied the teachers, and her grades skyrocketed. Although she remained aloof with her classmates, everyone could feel her becoming more down-to-earth.
Other princesses might fall from grace to become commoners, but she was a heavenly princess who had suddenly become approachable. Nevertheless, she remained an untouchable figure.
Yet, just a moment ago, everyone had heard another side of her: soft, cute, and shy. That was a side reserved only for the one she loved. Although they hadn’t seen her expression as she spoke, they could all imagine how tender and sweet she must have looked. The boys fantasized that if she were to call out their name, they would try to pluck the stars from the sky for her.
While most were still captivated by the memory of Lin Xi’s voice, a few had already begun planning their summer vacation. Finally free from a life buried in books, they were all eager to relax.
"Hey, now that the college entrance exam is over, shouldn’t we organize a graduation party?"
"Yeah, great idea! We can use my family’s yacht."
"My family has a manor. A party there wouldn’t be bad either."
"Or we could go abroad! Let’s take a spontaneous graduation trip."
"..."
Suggestions for the graduation party flew back and forth.
Si Wen remained silent. She picked up her phone, opened WeChat, and tapped on her chat window with Xue Xing. The last messages were from their previous conversation. Xue Yang’s broadcast had given her an idea; there were some things she shouldn’t overthink. It was just a game, after all. What was past was past.
Some of the boys who had been lost in Lin Xi’s voice gradually joined the discussion. Only Si Wen hadn’t said a single word from beginning to end.
The class president walked over to her desk. "Si Wen, we’re all discussing where to hold the graduation party. Do you have any suggestions?"
"I don’t have any. I’m not going anyway."
We’ve already graduated. Who even goes to a graduation party?
Her one sentence made everyone’s expression change.
"And don’t expect Lin Xi to go either," Si Wen added. "She dislikes that kind of atmosphere even more than I do."
"Did Lin Xi tell you she wasn’t going? Or are you just making decisions for her now!"
It was Peng Zihui again. Having just been shot down by Si Wen, she was now eagerly asking for more trouble.
Si Wen lifted her gaze to her. "Peng Zihui, I’ll say it again. Get out."
"Si Wen, if I don’t rip your mouth to shreds today, then my last name isn’t Peng!"
Peng Zihui could no longer hold back. She charged at Si Wen, her hands reaching for her face.
"Zihui, calm down!"
"Zihui, stop!"
"Zihui..."
Everyone scrambled to break up the fight. Some tried to pull Peng Zihui back while others shielded Si Wen, preventing Peng Zihui from getting to her.
Si Wen simply sat in her chair, not even knitting her brow. She leaned back, watching Peng Zihui as if she were a clown.
Peng Zihui suddenly flew into a rage. "Si Wen, drop dead!"
"Get out!"
Suddenly, a clear, cold voice cut through the chaos from the doorway. Instantly, the classroom fell silent.
The voice belonged to none other than Lin Xi. She was standing at the classroom door, her expression blank and her hands hanging naturally at her sides, looking like a celestial fairy. If the voice hadn’t been so unmistakably hers, no one would have believed Lin Xi capable of saying such a thing. Though she was usually aloof, she had never spoken a harsh word to any of them.
Standing beside her was an incredibly handsome boy whose expression was just as cold as hers. As they stood there together, they looked like a golden boy and a jade girl from a fairytale.
In that moment, the boys in the class understood the gap between themselves and him. No wonder the Young Miss would swoon over him like that. It’s all because he’s just that good-looking.
The girls’ gazes, however, were fixed on Xue Yang. His videos had circulated widely at Harlow, so almost everyone knew of him. But seeing him in person, they finally understood what "photos don’t do him justice" truly meant. He was far more handsome in person.
Peng Zihui, who had been bursting with fury, deflated like a punctured balloon the moment Lin Xi appeared. She might not have been afraid of Si Wen, or even anyone else for that matter, but when faced with Lin Xi, fear was her only option.
"I’m sorry, Young Miss! I’ll get out right now!"
Peng Zihui didn’t dare utter another word, fleeing the classroom as if for her life. Upon seeing this, the other students quickly dispersed, leaving only Xue Yang, Lin Xi, and Si Wen behind.
"Not bad," Si Wen remarked. "So you do get angry after all."
In Si Wen’s memory, Lin Xi never got angry. Even when people badmouthed her right to her face, she would just walk past them without a change in expression. Yet today, on the last day of their senior year, she had finally seen her lose her temper.
"See? Three years of high school weren’t for nothing." Lin Xi walked over to Si Wen and checked her over carefully. "Si Wen, are you alright?"
"I’m fine. What could possibly be wrong?"
"That Peng Zihui went too far," Lin Xi said. "She was just using this to settle a personal score."
