Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 309 - 307: Cui Hao Plans to Court Disaster Again
In the student council office, Sun Yufei was reporting the latest work progress to Xue Yang.
"President, all of our promotional materials can be finished today. I’ve already spoken with the owner of Qiangsheng, and we’ll pick them up the day before the sports meet starts."
"Alright, I’ll go with you then."
"You don’t have to. The owner of Qiangsheng said he’ll deliver them directly to us and help with the setup."
"Okay." Xue Yang wasn’t surprised that Su Guoqiang would do this. After all, the man was trying every possible way to earn his forgiveness.
Sun Yufei hesitated for a moment before saying, "President, did you know? The receptionist at Qiangsheng resigned."
Xue Yang didn’t have much of an impression of her. Hearing Sun Yufei’s words, he just grunted noncommittally and said nothing else.
Seeing this, Sun Yufei didn’t press the matter. She just said she was heading to class and left.
Xue Yang didn’t even notice her departure. His mind was elsewhere.
Today was Friday, and it had been half a month since Lin Xi’s last school break. That meant he had an entire day this Saturday to spend with her.
If he didn’t have so much on his plate, Xue Yang would have loved to go to Harlow School right now and wait for her to get out of class.
But that wasn’t possible yet. He still had too many things to deal with. There was a plethora of student council affairs, the fashion brand occasionally required his attention, and the game studio had also run into some minor problems lately.
Luckily, the issues weren’t major; they just needed his decisions to keep things running.
Although less than a year had passed since he started university, Xue Yang had experienced so much. He had gone from having nothing to being the student council president, the executive director of a fashion brand, and the owner of a game studio.
For anyone else, each of those titles was a form of capital worth showing off. Just mentioning any of them would instantly raise one’s social standing.
But Xue Yang knew it was far from enough.
His position as student council president was only useful within the school. His role as the fashion brand’s executive director was only temporary; he would return it to Si Wen after her college entrance exams.
As for the game studio...
Compared to a behemoth like *League of Legends*, it still had a long way to go. Fortunately, it was slowly improving. The number of players grew every day. Those who had initially looked down on their game were now singing a different tune after hearing about people finding their other halves in-game.
As for the game’s resident playboys and Casanovas, all they needed to do was register a few more accounts, manage their time slots, and they could carry different guys and girls up the ranks. They could even juggle several relationships at once.
Even Cui Hao had seen the light after his fallout with Bai Yueguang. The Summoner’s Rift is vast, so why die on one hill? Is playing support no longer satisfying? Has playing mid-laner lost its charm?
He decisively registered several new accounts, poured a good amount of money into them, and paraded around the Rift with a noble title, gaining a considerable number of fangirls. Now, he never lacked for girls to play with. Occasionally, when he hit a losing streak, he would beg Xue Yang to play a few rounds for him to turn the tide.
"This isn’t a sustainable path for you, you know," Xue Yang said.
"What do you mean, not sustainable? I’m not like you. You’ve already got a gorgeous, rich girlfriend. Of course, you wouldn’t be tempted by the other fish in the sea. I’m different. After all these years, not a single one has been willing to actually be with me."
Xue Yang mulled it over. It did seem to be true. Putting the past aside, ever since he’d known the guy, he’d often heard about him going on dates, but never with the same person twice.
"Have you ever tried to find the reason within yourself?"
"What the hell could be wrong with me? Isn’t it just that I’m not as handsome as you? We get along great when we’re chatting online, but it’s an instant bust the moment we meet in person. What can I do about it?"
Cui Hao wasn’t actually bad-looking. Xue Yang figured the problem was that his friend liked to use heavy beauty filters, just like some girls did. Plus, when he chatted online, he would talk about anything and everything. But, well, how to put it? Some topics that work online don’t always land the same way in person; it can come off as really cringey. When girls compared the real him to his heavily edited photos, the difference was too stark, and naturally, things never went any further.
"Have you shown Bai Yueguang your photo?"
"No."
"Cui Hao, listen to me. The online world is a mix of truth and lies, reality and fantasy. But if you’re just your true self, I believe that one day, you’ll find a girl who is just as real, and you’ll start a wonderful relationship."
"Really?"
"Of course."
After Xue Yang left, Cui Hao took out his phone and opened his chat with Bai Yueguang. The conversation was still stuck on her last message: *Can I see a photo of you? In exchange, I can show you mine.*
Cui Hao had replied, *I’m not very good-looking. I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed.*
She had written back, *I don’t mind. Just send it.*
After that, Cui Hao never replied. He hadn’t known how to. She had taken the initiative to suggest exchanging photos, but he had chickened out. From that point on, they had stopped talking. When they occasionally ran into each other online, Cui Hao didn’t dare invite her to his team. She seemed to understand and never said anything either.
If this continued, they probably had no future together.
Although Cui Hao had met many girls recently, grinding through games with Bai Yueguang was still the most fun. She never criticized his poor skills. Sometimes, when they lost, she would even comfort him. She would even carry him to victory. The other girls, however, would inevitably complain if he lost, saying things like, "So-and-so pro jungler is the best."
Cui Hao steeled his resolve, opened his photo album, and tried to find his most handsome picture to send her. However, he found flaws in every single one. These were the photos he used to be most confident in, but now, facing Bai Yueguang, he felt incredibly insecure.
Finally, his gaze landed on a devastatingly handsome photo. In the picture, the young man’s head was tilted slightly down. Although his full face wasn’t visible, that was precisely what made him look all the more charming. It was the kind of picture every girl would like. And boys, too.
Damn it, why do I have a photo of Xue Yang saved on my phone? 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Indeed, the photo was of Xue Yang. As for when he had saved it, only heaven knew.
As if possessed, Cui Hao sent the picture. By the time he realized what he had done, she had already replied.
"This is you, huh? You’re very handsome."
Judging by the speed of her response, she had been waiting for his reply. Cui Hao’s finger, which had been about to retract the message, tapped out a reply instead. "Sorry, I’ve been busy with the school’s spring sports meet and haven’t had time to get online. I only just saw your message."
It was a lame excuse. They had clearly run into each other in the game several times.
But in the face of such good looks, none of that seemed to matter.
