Early in the morning, Xue Yang woke up on time, while Lin Xi was still sleeping soundly. He gently tucked her in before leaving. A cold wind had howled last night, but now the sun was shining brightly. Nevertheless, the days were growing colder.

Just as Xue Yang entered the school grounds, Cui Hao caught him. "Xue Yang, my man, if you tell me you don’t have a beauty stashed away in your house, I’ll refuse to believe you."

Cui Hao sniffed around Xue Yang like a bloodhound. "You haven’t smelled it?"

"Smelled what?"

"Lately, you’ve had this subtle fragrance about you. And it seems your sense of style has improved, too."

Xue Yang lifted his arms, sniffing left and right. "I don’t smell anything. As for my style, haven’t I always dressed like this?"

Today, Xue Yang was wearing a shirt Lin Xi had bought for him, paired with slim-fit black trousers. Lin Xi had made a small alteration to the cuffs, making Xue Yang look tall, handsome, and radiant. He could give any popular young actor a run for his money.

No, that’s not right. Those popular actors couldn’t even compare to this guy’s flamboyant flair. Yes, that’s exactly how Cui Hao saw the new Xue Yang. The more handsome Xue Yang became, the more it made a rough guy like him feel utterly inadequate. He had an urge to mess up Xue Yang’s hair into a bird’s nest and scratch up his face.

"Haven’t you been pursuing a girl recently? How’s that going?"

Cui Hao’s face immediately fell. "That girl is too aloof. I find her very hard to pursue, so I added her roommate on QQ." As he spoke, he didn’t forget to pull out his phone and show it off to Xue Yang.

Xue Yang was speechless. Is this guy really not just switching targets?

"Heh heh, I was just thinking it would be great if her roommate could help me win her over. If not, well, developing something with the roommate wouldn’t be a bad backup plan. It’s called tactics. You’re too dull; you’d never get it."

"So am I."

Xue Yang rolled his eyes at him, deciding not to engage further.

"Hey, alright, I’ll talk! Don’t ignore me. It’s just... have you not been keeping up with the school news recently?"

"I don’t bother with that stuff. You know that."

"You don’t even read the school news. No wonder..." Cui Hao trailed off.

Xue Yang pressed him, "Just spit it out. What happened?"

Just then, a man and a woman approached them. The woman walked ahead while the man followed meekly behind.

"Ying Ying, I bought you breakfast. It won’t make you late for class if you eat first."

Chen Ying was about to refuse, but then she saw Xue Yang approaching. Her expression suddenly changed to a smile. She stopped and linked her arm with Zhang Caide’s.

Zhang Caide was instantly overwhelmed by the attention. Ever since that day in the library when Chen Ying agreed to be his girlfriend, he had been living in a dream. He would wake up early every day to buy her breakfast, but she had never once accepted. Zhang Caide figured she was just embarrassed, since they had spent so little time together. He planned to keep bringing her breakfast a few more times, hoping to build their relationship and, incidentally, declare to everyone that Chen Ying was his girlfriend. Today, he brought her breakfast as usual, but she had snapped at him and told him to stop. Zhang Caide had no idea what he had done wrong. He had finally won over his goddess but hadn’t even held her hand. If she slipped away now, what a devastating loss that would be. But the goddess was too aloof. If he kept getting the cold shoulder, he knew he’d get discouraged. As the top talent of the Law Department, Zhang Caide’s time was precious. Though still a student, he was already being sought after for legal cases. He had postponed several of them just to bring Chen Ying breakfast. If she refused again, he was considering ignoring her for a while. Who knew that she would now take his arm on her own initiative? It’s often said, ’A persistent suitor wears down the reluctant lady.’ That saying was certainly true. He just didn’t understand why that junior, Xue Yang, hadn’t succeeded after pursuing her for so long.

Zhang Caide simply assumed his own charm surpassed Xue Yang’s, which was why Chen Ying agreed to be his girlfriend. After all, Xue Yang was just a kid to them. Not every student admitted to Yanbei University is guaranteed a bright future. Ultimately, success depends on one’s own abilities.

Lost in thought, Zhang Caide looked up as Chen Ying came to a halt. He saw Xue Yang standing right in front of them. Xue Yang was so tall that Zhang Caide had to tilt his head up to see his face clearly. Xue Yang... was incredibly handsome. Even he, as a man, felt Chen Ying must have been blind to not accept Xue Yang’s pursuit.

Xue Yang’s reaction caught everyone off guard. He simply smiled and greeted them, "Hello, Senior Zhang, Senior Sister Chen."

Chen Ying was taken aback for a moment, then she made the introduction. "Xue Yang, let me introduce you. This is my boyfriend, Zhang Caide. He’s from the Law Department."

From beginning to end, Xue Yang showed no hint of sadness. His tone, his gestures—everything was perfectly normal. He was truly treating Chen Ying like any other senior.

Cui Hao stared, dumbfounded, at the interaction between the three. As soon as Xue Yang walked away, he quickly scrambled after him. "Seniors, I’m heading off too! Wish you two all the happiness!"

Chen Ying’s face was deathly pale. She couldn’t believe Xue Yang had actually wished her happiness with another man.
