Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 219 - 217 Wherever You Say to Go, I’ll Follow
It wasn’t a sudden visit by some pop superstar to Hui City, was it? But there didn’t seem to be any cameras around. Some people wanted to approach but were quickly deterred by the seven Little Fairies, each with her own bodyguard. Their imposing presence was so ridiculously cool that it made those who wanted to pass by involuntarily take a detour.
Luckily, the internet wasn’t too developed yet. Otherwise, this scene would have been known to everyone in just a few minutes.
However, for people like Lin Xi and her friends, any unauthorized media coverage of their activities was strictly forbidden. Even the slightest hint of a story would be swiftly erased behind the scenes.
Xue Yang approached the front desk. "Hello, a table for fifteen."
The bodyguards had followed them all this way, and after their hard work, Xue Yang naturally wouldn’t forget them.
"Ah, yes, of course."
The buffet receptionist was a young girl, about eighteen or nineteen years old. She wore a professional uniform, complete with a ribbon tied in a bow at her chest, and her hair was tied up meticulously. She had an appearance that mixed naivety with a touch of maturity—a look that, generally speaking, men found appealing.
When she saw Xue Yang walk in with a group of fairies, she froze for several seconds.
Although she had worked here for less than half a year, she had seen all sorts of people. It wasn’t uncommon for men to bring their mistresses.
But this was the first time she had seen someone bring seven Little Fairies at once.
These were *real* fairies. They were a far cry from the so-called "fairies" on the internet, the ones who owed their looks to heavy photo editing.
If she hadn’t been born in this age of technology, she would have every reason to believe that the Seven Fairies of legend had descended to the mortal realm.
Still in a daze, the receptionist got them checked in, and the lobby manager quickly led the large group inside. These were major clients; they had to be served well.
"The seafood here is the freshest, brought over the same day it’s caught from the nearby sea. Please, give it a try."
"It does look quite good."
"Yeah, I just wonder how it’ll taste."
The lobby manager led them to a private room. As for the seven bodyguards, they went to find food on their own. To avoid scaring the other patrons, Xue Yang had them take off their sunglasses, which made them look much more normal.
"It’s not peak season for seafood, so some varieties aren’t available," Xue Yang explained. "If you came in August or September, you’d experience a true seafood feast. But no worries, seafood is just one part of what Hui City offers. Our other dishes are also delicious. We’re a bit pressed for time tonight, so we’ll make do for now. Tomorrow, I’ll take you to try one of our local farm stays."
"A farm stay? What’s that?"
These young women were all from wealthy families, accustomed to either exquisite Western cuisine or nutritional meals specially prepared by their family nutritionists.
To put it simply, while Auntie Shen might have looked like an ordinary nanny, she actually held not only a chef’s certificate but also a nutritionist license, among a whole host of other qualifications. Moreover, she was a graduate of a renowned foreign university. In short, even if Auntie Shen were to leave Lin Xi’s household, she would be a hot commodity, highly sought after by major corporations.
"It’s a new kind of tourism," Xue Yang elaborated, "a way for people to escape the hectic city and get back to nature for some physical and mental relaxation. They’re usually based out of a farmer’s own home, set in beautiful natural or pastoral landscapes. The air is fresh, the environment is relaxing—it’s perfect for relieving stress."
Si Wen chimed in, "It sounds similar to the guesthouse we visited before."
Before the New Year, she had taken them to a guesthouse in Kou City.
"It is similar," Xue Yang said. "But every place has different customs, so the experience varies. You’ll see tomorrow."
"The way you describe it, I want to go right now," Guan Yutong said with interest.
The others also looked on with anticipation. They had come here for two reasons: one was to experience setting off fireworks themselves, and the other was to see the local culture of another city.
"Aren’t you all tired?"
"Not at all!"
Xue Yang glanced at Lin Xi. She was sitting quietly beside him, currently locked in a struggle with a giant mantis shrimp. She seemed to be trying to peel the whole thing in one piece, but her clumsy technique was making a mess of it. In her haste, a faint blush colored her pretty face, making her look incredibly cute.
Xue Yang patted her small head. Lin Xi immediately looked up, blinked, and said, "Wherever you go, I’ll follow."
Although, right now, she’d much rather drag Xue Yang off to a private place to make up for all the kisses they’d missed out on. But there was no rush.
"Alright then, I’ll go make the arrangements."
Xue Yang stepped outside the buffet restaurant to call the farm stay and book rooms.
The restaurant and the KTV were only one floor apart. Standing outside, he could see the KTV below and even faintly hear the awful caterwauling coming from inside.
"Today I watch the snow drifting in the cold night..."
"With a heart grown cold, I drift far away..."
"Chasing through the storm, I lose your trace in the fog..."
"Across the vast sky and sea, it’s just you and me..."
...
Every time he heard someone butcher this song, Xue Yang had the urge to rush over and snatch the microphone away. If you’re tone-deaf, you shouldn’t be torturing people with it.
However, that was just a fleeting thought. People came to KTV to let off steam, so of course, they would sing however they pleased.
...
The party was getting more and more boring. After sitting in the KTV for a while, He Jiake grew restless. She slipped out under the pretext of going to the restroom and stood in the hallway to get some fresh air.
Isn’t that Xue Yang? Strange, didn’t he go home to sleep? Why is he here?
He Jiake was a little confused. From where she stood, it looked as if his eyes met hers.
For no reason at all, her heart began to pound violently. She pressed a hand to her chest, waiting for its frantic rhythm to slow to a normal beat.
This Xue Yang... he seems to have some kind of magic. Just one look from him can provoke such a strong reaction in me. How could I have gone through three years of high school with him and never noticed?
She couldn’t even remember if she had exchanged more than three sentences with him in all those three years. She racked her brain but came up with nothing. Aside from answering teachers’ questions in class, he had spent all his time studying.
"Since I’ve seen him, it would be rude not to say hello," He Jiake muttered to herself. She straightened her clothes and started walking upstairs.
Xue Yang finished booking the rooms at the farm stay, then made another call home.
"Yeah, I won’t be back tonight, or tomorrow night."
"Okay, just be safe out there," Zhong Hailan said from the other end. "Your dad and I are about to leave for work. Oh, right, your flight is on the eighth, isn’t it?"
"Yes. I can get a ride to the airport myself that day. You and Dad don’t need to take time off to see me off."
