Rejected: A love story-Chapter 26: Trending Scandal

The school group chat was going crazy. Someone had hashtagged it #collegewarsister and it was spreading like fire. More students kept resharing the clip, adding their own reactions. Before long it hit other platforms too and the video was already climbing into the thousands then hundreds of thousands. Within an hour it crossed a million.

Because of how wild everything got, Fiona and Catherine were both summoned to the Dean’s office. Catherine pretended to be calm but inside she was shaking with fear and excitement. Fiona just had this tired look, like she couldn’t believe her life was turning into online drama.

Meanwhile, at the office, Nathan had just arrived from his meeting with one of the school board members. He stepped into the reception area and paused. Something was off. Almost everyone was staring into their phones like zombies. People who normally greeted him didn’t even look up.

He cleared his throat once, no one moved, he cleared it again, louder.

This time heads jerked up and everybody instantly straightened like they’d been caught gossiping about the wrong person.

"Good afternoon, sir," they all muttered, acting like nothing was happening.

Nathan didn’t say anything yet but his brows pulled together. The energy in the building felt off. Even the receptionist kept glancing at her phone like she wanted to hide it under the desk.

His executive assistant Alex walked quickly to him, holding out a tablet.

"Sir... I think you should see this."

Nathan took it, still frowning.

"What now?"

The assistant didn’t answer, he just opened the viral video.

The second Nathan saw Fiona’s face on the screen, his whole body went still.

Catherine tried to defend herself the moment they entered the Dean’s office. She pointed at Fiona like she was pointing at a stain on the wall.

"She ran from home. She’s Nathan’s mistress. I’m not lying sir. Everyone is already talking about it"

The Dean rubbed his forehead. He didn’t even know who to believe but he knew one thing for sure

the school did not want trouble connected to Nathan. The name alone already brought pressure.

Fiona stood there calm, her arms folded, not even trying to justify anything.

"I don’t regret slapping her" Fiona said quietly. "She deserved it"

Catherine gasped. "You see? She’s violent, she—"

Before she could finish, the door burst open so hard the Dean almost jumped out of his seat.

Nathan walked in, everything about him was cold, his eyes, his presence.

The Dean immediately stood. "Mr Nathan sir good afternoon"

Nathan didn’t even reply

He just turned his head slowly and stared at Catherine.

"So you’re Catherine" his voice was cold. "Bold enough to call my girlfriend a mistress and a slut"

Catherine froze, for a second she actually forgot how to breathe.

Why was it Fiona he was defending. Why was everything turning upside down for her.

She forced herself to speak, trying not to be intimated. "Isn’t that what she is" she said, her voice rude, her eyes rolling at Fiona who stayed quiet.

Nathan didn’t move, he only faced the Dean.

"I want her expelled. With immediate effect" he said to the Dean like he was ordering someone to clear trash off his property.

The Dean panicked. "She was just about to apologise sir let’s not escalate this please"

Catherine snapped her head at the Dean.

Apologise? To him?

Even if he has money who is he to command her life.

She stood up angrily. "Expel who? You must be out of your mind. Even if you have millions who do you think you are to just expel me"

Nathan looked at her like she was a noise he didn’t care for. Then he faced the Dean again.

"Do as you’re told" he said and walked out the office.

Fiona swallowed softly. "Can I go now?" she asked. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

The Dean nodded quickly and she stepped out.

Catherine stood there shaking in anger and confusion.

"She doesn’t get to leave, what are you doing sir"!

The Dean just sat back down, exhausted.

"Catherine you need to apologise to your sister and make Mr Nathan forgive you. If you cannot do that within two days you will be expelled"

"Two days?" Catherine said like she didn’t hear well.

"Yes. Two days. Or don’t bother coming back here. I tried to help you but you didn’t help yourself. "

Outside, the students stared through the hallway windows. They had seen Nathan walk into the Dean’s office and Fiona walking out calmly right after.

Some even deleted their earlier comments out of fear.

"Wait... so Fiona is his girlfriend?"

"No wonder he came himself"

"Catherine is finished"
