Chapter 38: Dominion

Rowan jolted upright as his pressure erupted, shaking the entire castle.

The bed shattered beneath him.

He landed lightly on the ground, reached for his sword, and exhaled slowly.

"...Looks like I slept a bit too long," Rowan muttered. "This is why I hate using skills that drain my energy."

He closed his eyes for a brief moment, steadying himself. The pallor that had drained from his lips was gone—color returning as his breathing evened out.

"My father... my mother... everyone here has already fallen unconscious," Rowan said quietly. "The pressure released by that demon and Fenrir is far too much for ordinary humans. If this continues any longer, they’ll die—simply because they can’t breathe."

His eyes opened.

In the next instant, he flew through the shattered window, descending calmly toward the battlefield below.

Valzaha looked up.

A wide grin split his face.

"Aha... so it’s you," he laughed. "A child with this much mana? Impressive. Truly impressive. It seems you watched your servant fight in your place."

His gaze shifted toward Fenrir.

"Don’t worry," Valzaha continued mockingly. "I’ll kill you too. But first..."

"...I’ll finish this."

Rowan didn’t respond.

Valzaha raised his sword and moved in for the killing strike—

Snap.

Space twisted.

Fenrir vanished from Valzaha’s reach and reappeared beside Rowan.

Valzaha’s eyes widened.

"...Instant teleportation?" he muttered. "Impossible. Even high-level demons require a delay."

Rowan placed a calm hand on Fenrir’s massive form.

"You’ve done enough," he said quietly. "Thank you—for protecting everyone while I slept."

A green glow surged from Rowan’s sword.

Mana poured out like a flood, wrapping around Fenrir. Wounds sealed. Shattered limbs reformed. Even the cracked divine core pulsed once—and restored itself.

Fenrir lowered its head.

"...Understood."

Rowan straightened and turned toward Valzaha.

"There’s no need for you to fight anymore," Rowan said. "I’ll take this demon somewhere else—somewhere we can go all out."

Valzaha scoffed.

"Are you ignoring me, brat?"

Rowan’s pressure surged.

"Silence," he said coldly. "After what you’ve done here, your punishment is death."

Blue light ignited within Rowan’s eyes.

His hair lifted slightly as the air itself began to tremble.

"Human kid," Valzaha sneered. "You dare speak to me like that? Almost no one does."

Dark pressure rolled off his body as he straightened.

"If you insist on serving someone," Valzaha continued, "then understand this—you are not the one who decides where we fight. I do."

His gaze flicked briefly toward the castle.

"I noticed it earlier. That divine beast—Fenrir—was protecting this place. This castle matters to you."

A cruel smile spread across his face.

"So I will destroy it. And when I kill you, I’ll make sure everyone you love inside dies with it."

Rowan slowly responded.

"You say you’ll defeat me?" he asked calmly. "Who decided that?"

He laughed softly.

"We fight here. Right now. Your opinion doesn’t matter."

His aura flared violently.

"I am absolute."

Rowan said.

Then he extended his sword toward Valzaha.

"Target," Rowan said calmly.

"Teleport."

Blue light snapped into existence.

Space bent around Valzaha’s leg, locking onto him even as he tried to move. He ran forward—

—and reality followed.

A flash.

The world vanished.

They reappeared in a vast, empty land. Endless sand stretched toward the horizon. No castle. No people. No walls to destroy.

Valzaha froze.

"...What?" he muttered.

Even while running... I was teleported?

And he brought himself too?

His eyes locked onto Rowan, disbelief creeping in.

What kind of mana is this...?

How powerful is this kid?

Rowan swiped his sword sideways once.

The air split silently, blue light tracing the blade.

He began walking toward Valzaha—slow, deliberate, unstoppable.

"Now then," Rowan said coldly, eyes glowing faintly blue.

"Prepare yourself."

"This is where your punishment begins."
